Are you using Super Resolution in Lightroom Classic V 14.4? If so, there is an acknowledged bug that will lock up PS when a Super Resolution file is sent to PS.

Same experience here. Win 11, PS 26.8, LrC 14.4. Edit in PS brings up PS, but PS is frozen. I started from LrC with an image that had been De-noised, Raw Details and Super Resolution. A file from LrC that has only Super Resolution gives the same result. My files are 45MP High Efficiency* from the Nikon Z 9. A file that has not been Super Resolutioned opens fine in PS.

Please copy and post your system info: Menu -> Help -> System Info The first thing I would do in this situation is to reset the Lightroom classic Preferences.

I have never seen that. My system is similar to yours, except I use hard drives for data. I use Lightroom Desktop a lot for doing photo sharing web pages. I also use a separate 2TB NVME drive solely for my Lightroom Classic catalog and previews. Please post your system info: Help - System Info Also, post the full task manager screen shot of when this is happening.

Is it possible that your computer has also enableb the GPU function of the 14700K? Lightroom Classic and Photoshop do not work well with two GPUs active In my i7-14700K system, I'm using the Asus Dark Hero motherboard. That MB detects my RTX 3070ti and disables the on board GPU. I have seen some post in this forum that some MBs do not disable the on board video. You can check in Windows Device manager to see if you have two GPUs running.

The essential concept to keep in mind is that your photos are not in the Lightroom Classic catalog. The catalog contains all the information it knows about your images, camera metadata, processing instructions, etc, etc, etc. I find it very useful to create folders and file names in this format: 2025-05-26-Memorial Day Service, the files have the same name with a sequence number. That system includes both the date and keywords in the folder and file names. Easy to search for in Lightroom Classic and the computer operating system. Backing up your catalog is just a important as backing up your photos. Catalog tips: Locate the catalog on your very fastest drive as @Rob_Cullen said, you only need ONE catalog. Any more than that is just a source of confusion when you are trying to find specific images. Especially when you eventually may get hundreds of thousands referenced in the catalog. (The only time I ever used more than one catalog was when I was working on images that were not mine. I was doing image processing and wedding album design for another pro photographer and didn't want his work mixed with mine).

What is drive H: in your system? Is that a mapping to the NAS? If so, LrC does not like the catalog on a NAS.

This does not show that you have relocated the Lightroom Classic Catalog folder as @johnellis suggested. Have you done that? You need to move the entire folder containing the Catalog and Previews Folder and their associated files to another place on your fastest drive (probably the internal). Be sure the catalog is backed up first.

I suggest you check the conection between your computer and the NAS. It might be breaking down. Can you always see the NAS in your file manager (Finder in Mac or Windows File Explorer). Test some LARGE file transfers from the NAS to the computer outside Lightroom Classic as at test.

What is your purpose in "rebuilding" your catalog? If you just want to "tune it up", you can use the menu item "Optimize Catalog". If you want to pare it down, you can do that by deleting files or folders you don't want from within the Library module. How many photos have been imported into your present catalog? How many of them have you processed (made changes to)? If you start a new catalog and reimport the images that are in your current catalog, you will loose all the edits and work you have done in the existing catalog unless you created XMP files for those images that were processed.

In this case, the new drive was probably assigned the same drive ID as the old one. As long as that and the folder name is the same, you are back in business.

I does matter greatly where the LrC catlog is located on your computer. Not just the Catalog File, but also the previews, which must be co-located with the catalog. The very best LrC performance is achieved when the folder containing the catalog and previews is located on the very fastest drive on the machine. Typically that is the internal SSD. Note: Attempting to use the catalog from a location in some cloud storage will result in disaster, recuring catalog corruption.

This definitely sounds like a hardware problem. Some of the possiblities are: 1. Defective cable to the external drive. 2 Defective USB-C/Thunderbolt connector on the Mac. Some of the San Disk Pro SSDs were defective, but yours does not seem to be one of those. Don't discount the possiblilty of the connector/port on the Mac being bad. Out of my three last MacBook Pros, two had bad USB-C connectors. Those were relativly new machines. You don't mention having a backup drive. Do you? It's probably time to upgrade your photo external drive to 4TB and get another (preferably different brand) for your photo backup. You should also backup the LrC catalog everytime the app closes to a totally different drive than where the catalog is located.

More information please: Mac or PC? Exact versions of Lightroom Classic and the operating system. Did you get any type of error message during the attempted export? What is the drive configuration on your computer? One internal, multiple internals, externals? Are you trying to export to a cloud service?

My system for handling that is to import the main photos that you haven't processed in Lr Mobile (photos taken with my Nikon). In my case, during import, I create a folder like "2025-08-09-Oxford Graduation". Once the import is finished, I go to the folder designated for Lr Mobile synced photos and drag all the Lr photos of that event into the main "2025-08-09-Oxford Graduation" folder. Will that work for you?

Have you considered the possiblity of a corrupt catalog? I had recent experince with LrC acting like that. My catalog had been corrupted by bad ram in a newly built Win11 computer. Try creating a new catalog. If that works, imports some photos to check it out. It might be possible to import the old catalog into the new one. I have never had to try that, though. Are you saying that you haven't been able to use LrC for eight months? I'm concerned that since you say the problem has been going on for a long time, that your backups might be corrupt, too.

Have you tried resetting LrC preferences? It's a good idea to try that when LrC starts doing strange things. Also, I wonder if a "Synchronize Folder" would help. Like you, I'm a long time user, but moving image files between folders is not in my usual workflow. I did try your steps, but did not have the issue. Win11, LrC V14.3.1.

In the video, are you cycling from one image to the next? If that's what you are doing, the image with colored stripes is corrupted. File corruption can happen in a number of ways: Defective memory card Defective memory card reader Defective cable between the reader/camera and the computer Defective USB port Defective drive where the image is located. If that is the only image showing corruption, you should be alert to future corruption issues. Immediate actions would be to try different card reader, cable and USB serial port on the MB. In my experience (not necessarily representative) with MacBook Pros over the years has been that two out of the last three MBPs I have had experienced failed USB ports.

The name changes have been confusing over the years. I don't see anything in the "Classic" term meaning that it will be phased out. Only Adobe knows their long term plans and they will never say until it happens. It's very confusing when, especially in online forums, people do not use the proper name for an application. That always leads to many wrong assumtions and comments. It's important also to know and say what the version of the app you are talking about and the operationg system version, too.

From your post, it's not possible to see if those files in the recycle bin are image files. Are they? If so, the suffix should be .jpg or the suffix for your camera's raw files. The procedure for "Remove Photo" in Lightroom Classic will give you two choices: "Delete from Disk" or "Remove from Lightroom Classic". The Remove from Lightroom choice will not put the file in the recycle bin, but Delete from Disk will. I see no reason at all to Remove from Lightroom Classic if you are going to keep the files on the drive. There is no penalty at all to Lightroom Classic to keep all your files that you have in the catalog. Culling is different matter. Picking the photos you definitely do not want to keep can be marked with the X, sorted and all those rejects Deleted from Disk which will also Remove from Lightroom Catalog.

This process is slightly different going to PS from Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. From Lightroom, Edit in Photoshop will open the file in PS. Make adjustments, then "Save". Then when back in Lightroom, Choose Edit in Photoshop -> Open as Layers. That will open the file that PS created, with layers intact. Any Lightroom adjustments you made after the file came back from PS will be lost. If you do not choose "Open as Layers" the latest version of the image in Lightroom will be opened in PS as a new file, loosing the layers. The process is similar in Lightroom Classic, but the choice is to "Edit in Photoshop" -> "Edit Original"

I worked on it some without acceptable results. There does not seem to be enough data other than red to neutralize the color cast. I bet some with better skills than me will come up with something passable. Consider making it just black and white. It will look fine that way.

Here are the system requirements for Photoshop Elements. If you scroll down the page, you will find where to check on earlier versions. A Google search suggests that Photoshop Elements might not install on the Surface which has an ARM processor. This is a link to an Adobe document that discusses app compatibility with the ARM machines. Windows programs need to be "Installed" and generally, there is no way to transfer one Win program to another computer without having the original media with the installable file.

This thread is almost two years old. There are quite a few solutions mentioned if you read all the replies. Are you working in Pro mode? Is you exposure set to "0". I just tested it on my iPhone 14 pro max. No issue and have never had the problem.
