I used Topaz Photo AI to process 30 tifs using the standalone version. I was then going to use my saved action that adds a watermark and copyright and make a jpg., and it stopped before saving and offered a PSD. I tried to save instead as JPG and this was not a choice, only jpeg2000. I decided to use save as on the tiff before the actions, and zip file was highlighted, something I never use, and saved as LZW as I have always for decades. But it made no difference, so I saved as the jpf. This shows in Bridge but when I go to load for a site such as Bugguide, it shows an empty box, so is useless. Saving with no compression and trying again doesn't work either, so what kind of tiff can this be that can't be saved as a jpg? Still waiting for topaz response.

I add the data such as description, typing manually or pasting into the description box of IPTC core in the metadata panel. Keywords, I select from a long tree list I've created over the years for Families, Orders etc. I have some saved templates for locations that I have used a lot. This is affecting descriptions, I did use the exported metadata text file to search for correspoding file numbers and pasting each individual back.

I shoot a lot of Arthropods, research to find out what they are and add genus or species to the description. Coming back later to process, I found that a number have (Multiple values) in the description. This normally occurs when more than one image are selected and have different values, but this is happening with single selection. I called Adobe tech for help and he told me it is because there is no description, never was. I said no, then it would be blank. I really got nowhere, as he attributed the problem to me and not to Bridge, saying there never was data there. I then showed him a page where I had extracted the metadata of over a thousand recent shots and correlating the number showed the metadata, INCLUDING THE DESCRIPTION, that had been there. So finally he admitted he was clueless and said he would take it to a higher level to developers. Meanwhile, after all the time I spent to get the right names, I either have to research again, as I can't remember, or correlate the numbers individually with the database on another computer. In decades of using Bridge this never happened before.

So I had to call Adobe tech help as when I try to open it, all I got was a spinning circle. Whether from my computer or the cloud, same thing. I really don't like to use it, as an earlier version allows 2 or more windows to be open, but won't run macro actions now. So after trying a bunch of things that were unsuccessful, he finally had me reinstall Bridge. The problem still occurred after one brief moment where it opened but then wouldn't again. Tried some other stuff and did a control-alt-shift and reset, losing all my preferences. So it was working for awhile and I did what I needed and next time I tried to use it, I had to reset again. It didn't help, and I went back to the earlier Bridge and got a lot of work done, adding data, making tiffs, rating, weeding out stuff etc. but then today, I wanted to copy some of the description data to the file name, as this is the way I always organize my files, by subject name followed by a unique number. But when I went to a single image's description field, it said multiple values, so I can't copy it. I try going from a version of Bridge 12, back to the latest 13, and spincircle, won't open. Trying to reset didn't work. So now I can't use either, and work ended till I can call Adobe again. So sick of this extortionist monopoly that keeps worsening products while charging a monthly fee.

I am paying monthly for this monopolisitic program, that doesn't improve and gets worse. I have been using Bridge to store data for all my shots since Photoshop 3.1, and Bridge is ruined. It has been months since one can no longer have 2 Bridge Windows open, see thumbnails of more modern cameras such as the Nikon Z9. Free programs such as Nikon Studio, Resolve, and Windows Media can play these videos, and Nikon Studio has the data, and now I can't even add metadata to any videos. So I can't see them, I can't have a description, or keywords or any relevant data and have to keep going to other programs to see what each is, back and forth. How can it be legal to charge a subscription fee for something one is essentially wedded to, because of decades of use and storing and keeping track of data, and then render it almost useless while promoting Lightroom which I don't like, never will. I could see videos play and have data with CS6 and earlier. They keep "upgrading" when it is actually a downgrade. "Techinicans" are being paid to deliver garbage, but if one stops paying, then decades of earlier work will no longer be accessible. This is extortion and I think reporting to state's Attorney General, as in similar outrageous situations is necessary again. For a while it was some videos that wouldn't accept metadata. Now in the last seveal days not one will. And I was fooled because in a Bridge before some of the last updates, it honestly won't let one even enter data into the boxes. Now I thought it was actually working, as I typed data in, and it's there when I leave, but when I come back to the fields, they are all empty. Unbelievable waster of time.

This is so incredibly tedious. I found a video of adapting a squirrel with fur sticking out to a different background and followed along with mine. Initial selection of object was good. don't need nearly the detail of hirs, as I just want to rid the outline. I create the mask and refine it as following him, and then have a color background on another layer and reverse, following where he puts that below, and then dreating a duplicate layer and using blending mode lighten on one and darken on the other. He is removing darker fringe while I am doing the opposite, so choose the lighter one. It seems he quickly goes around the squirrel and it looks better (though I can see he didn't get all the longer hairs sticking out. I on the other hand have to go all around the image a 2nd time more carefully after putting in the background with a different shade of green as the outline is much worse, and it has to be very precise or it dips into the subject. And then after maybe an hour of that and I want to make the background less solid, I find I can't lighten or darken parts of it, I get the circle with a slash, and nor can I paint lighter or darker shades or green. Is it because solid color layer is unalterable and I have to do something all over again?

6 1/2 hours since I first started trying to do this simple thing. I've watched 4 or 5 videos that went way beyond what I wanted to do, started in different places with 2 layers, or something so that I had to go to another video to try to get to that point. Not as involved as refining hair, changing the luminoisty of a replaced sky. I went to the most basic lesson of creating a mask and I don't need to add a kitten from another image. In all I get to the point of modifying the mask and I'm not in the same place, and can't proceed. I made an adjustment layer, color balance, when I wiped out the previous attempts and started over. I created a selection around the objects and inversed and created a color layer and changed that using color from another image that was closer to what I wanted. The masking tutorial went on about why white instead of black, but when I tried to follow this also I didn't see the results and now see that my original layer is gone. It's not listed as deleted in the history so I just don't know shy I can't do something that is so much simpler than all these videos going into so much more. I have a wider outline than before and still haven't gotten to the stage of reducing it by refining the mask. I don't get the painting with black, I start and the lighter outline widens. What am I doing wrong?

I used a simple background of one color. I want to adjust the color. I used object selection to choose the subjects, which did a very good job and then I inverse, but when I adjust the color there is a thin lighter color adjacent to them. How do I avoid that outline?

That didn't last long. Files are back to having wrong description until description is clicked. Especially wasteful when files haven't had the subject added to the file name. Don't know what the videos are with no thumbnail and now still can't tell by just clicking the thumb, or moving through with the arrow. I currently have at not bigger that 1000meg. Very few are bigger.

Weeks have passed and they still haven't fixed this. Gone from having videos where I would have to go to other programs to see what's on them, and adding the descriptions, to where descriptions won't tell me, only showing the name of the previous selected item, unless I reclick the new item. Maybe I just need to call Adobe to rollback to an earlier less worse version.

I was thrilled to see all these later Nikon video thumbs appear and did several folders and was going to save so many hours of having to use NX Studio, LR or WinMedia to go back and forth on the files. then I went to the store and came back and thought, what happened to all those thumbnails. I think we need to clamour for Bridge to fix this. All those other programs can do it, why not Bridge?

Either I didn't look carefully enough or something changed. I went out to the store and returned and then was going through folders that I had purged caches on after setting the software parameter. None of the later files have thumbnails and can't be played. I tried going through and purging some again but nothing changed. I thought I was going to save hundreds of hours by not havng to go to NX studio or LR to see, play and things are the same as before. I see now on the GoPro thread that likewise it worked briefly and then they all reverted back again to no thumbs. What a letdown.

The 1st link did not help as that already worked for the older videos. but the 2nd link about the gopro showing only thumbnails and making the change and clearing the cache worked to my amazement. Adobe phone technicians had told me there was no solution and you have proved them wrong. Great help to something I've been dealing with ever since creating higher res videos. Thanks!. Now I just need to delete the LR catalog taking up so much space on the C drive.

I say filling up needlessly because it is a 2T drive and now has no room, while I have an internal 16T drive with nothing on it, and the only reason I used LR was to see the videos that Bridge wouldn't show, but the 2nd of the 2 links on the next answere solved that problem.

So besides the fact that I can no longer use Control N to open a 2nd or 3rd Window of Bridge and compare directory contents, here is another setback. I go through all my day folders and add descriptions, which are mainly species names. I also add keywords and other data. When I have updated many folders with such information and weeded sufficiently, I renumber the files according to my system and then add the description to the file name. So this new Bridge has the feature that if I Bridge search, for example, all the files, that have 'bald', it will find all the Bald Eagles and I apply the name to the batch. However, unlike before, on the next search, if I go to find all the ones that have 'Kestrel' amd then highlight the result to rename, they all show they have Bald Eagle in the description. The correct name won't appear, unless I go to an individual file and click in the description name, then it goes away and can be replaced. Then I must verify, in this instance that 243 found files have the correct description before batch renaming. Each time I do a new search, the selected files show the description of the previous, and sometimes doesn't change to the correct one immediately when I click the description. Since Bridge no longer shows thumbs of videos, I had to use 2 or 3 other programs just to verify the subject matter in the first place. These techs just keep ways of finding additional hours of time to what was once a smooth operation back with CS6. Example, Geese, not Hawks in picture.

I don't actually use LR for keeping track of anything. I use Bridge and physically store all images according to their related subject matter. I used it because Bridge stopped the ability to see thumbnails of and play my video files, so all I have from the camera is a bunch of icons. In my workflow, after weeding the raw camera files and adding metadata in Bridge, I rename files 1st with my numbering system and later adding the description to the file name before permanently residing the files on their final location which may be a species or family folder (most are nature related) . So I started with the catalog defaulting on the C drive which has used up a lot of HD space needlessly. I since read that it is recommended on a drive with more room. I just want to clarify the location of this before deleting it and starting over. One possible concern is an email from the "LR Queen" about someone who lost so many photos by doing something or other. This probably doesn't apply since I am not relying on the LR images for anything except to see what is on the videos, and I know where I've put everything but I want to be sure I am clear before taking such an action. The other thing I am wondering about is that I originally had all my videos on external drive R where I may have started looking at some in LR. But I got an internal drive H and copied everything there, and that is where I do everything. But what is strange is that while I am working with those videos and I know I am on the I drive, I sometime hear the R drive clattering away like a lot of activity and even if I close all windows and try to safely remove it, it says its in use and won't allow. could that be related?

It seemed best when it was CS6 and videos had thumbnails and playable among many other things. but it seems with this subscription service, there are people whose jobs depend on continually making changes as a reason for being employed, as well as an excuse to pay for a subscription that need no update. Each update it seems I lose something and add to my workflow time. One of the most useful things was to have a Bridge Window open and press control N and get a new window. I could have multiple Bridges open and compare file folder contents. Now that isn't working, and I want to compare files in one drive and directory with another which may have an older version with camera numbers - NOT renumbered according to my sysem. It would be easy to compare thumbnails or RAW files, which Windows File Explorer does not show. (While it does show video thumbnails - which Bridge doesn't). Such an unbelievable mess.

I use Bridge to organize my files, but since having to pay for a subscription, it no longer reads my video files. So Lightroom Classic 12 can. But now I played several videos, rated in Bridge and then an empty white box appeared while playing a video which just stopped. It is caused by/related to LR, as I could no longer do anything there and using task manager closed it and the box disappeared. Then I went back to LR and the same thing happened again. Only now Task Manager doesn't show LR so it can't be closed. I played the file to completion in Windows media, but now it looks like I'll have to reboot.

I have a day folder with about 185 images and videos and LR only imports one video. I removed the folder and tried again several times but it only imports this one. I had previously used camera raw crops and usually LR will say there are already previews but here it says no.

OK, I see that it was top label I had to check, thanks. It took me 3 hours to apply names and keywords going back and forth from LR and Bridge for about 100 videos without thumbs. Next batch should be a little less time.

I am trying to figure a shorter way to take advantage of the fact that LR shows video thumbnails and Bridge doesn't. by applying names and keywords in LR where I can see the thumbs, could group and copy going by the file names. But unlike Bridge I don't see the file names under the thumbs, just star ratings. Can I get the names to show there, so I don't have to go to each image to see its name. Also I see some have the wrong keyword, in a search for those with falcon as keyword but it won't let me correct it.

also, I just realized,all my cropping, keyword, description, location data etc is all added when the file names are those the camera gives. When I am all done and ready to start making tiffs or extract data, I renumber and rename according to my own system, using Bridge's rename facility. Will Lightroom recognize the images with all the changes applied when the name is changed?
