Similar thread to this one........ Lightroom Mobile and MyPassport Wireless Pro I think you can only import from the Camera Roll in LrM, so if you get the images from the drive to the Camera Roll, that's an option. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to direct sync to the drive though as I don't think LrM (and the Cloud that it syncs to) will sync to the WD file system. Here's an interesting article and comments: Accessory review: Western Digital My Passport Wireless Pro: Digital Photography Review Also the ability sync to Creative Cloud account isn't the same Cloud where Adobe stores all the photos from LrM. Maybe the Adobe tech guys can feedback more?

Yes Darren, to sync Collections from Desktop you'll need a CC Subscription. You can use Lightroom Mobile free independently but won't be able to sync photo back to the Desktop. I think you can only save jpegs to the Camera Roll.

Hi, If you want to share a single image, you should get the option of 'Maximum Available' that presumably accesses the original res file that is on Adobe's Server. From a Shared Collection Link however you can't allow the recipient to download original res files. Yet.

From what I have read Bruce, I think that's correct. I'm not even sure that the Smart Previews always remain on your Phone unless they are cached. I think sometlimes just thumbnails reside and the Smarts (or Originals, if you have those in the Cloud) are synced back to the device as required.

Yes Bruce, Smart Previews are synced to the Cloud and then to LR Mobile. Photos uploaded through LR Mobile and LR Web will sync back via the Cloud to LR Desktop as Full Resultion.

Hi Stefan, Would the Catalog clash possibly be happening when signing in and/or syncing (within both LR Desktop and LR Mobile) is done after photos are taken on the mobile device? Thus the Catalogs can't be merged? If this is the case then when LR Mobile is first opened Adobe should have a warning that if you have CC and intending to Sync with the Desktop, do it now, before taking photos. Obviously don't sync and delete your photos. You may get someone on this user-to-user forum to help you but it may be best to try direct help from Adobe, try these forums: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/categories/photoshop_family_lightroom_mobile https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/categories/photoshop_family_photoshop_lightroom

Hi, Any Photos uploaded to the 'Cloud' are not part of your 20GB Creative Cloud account. The limit isn't clearly specified. Collectiions synced from LR Desktop will only upload Smart Previews to the Cloud and although fine to edit in LR Mobile and LR Web, this won't allow you to download the High Res to the Camera Roll for use in other Application. From LR Mobile, you can share/save images to the Camera Roll or Share Collectiions to Social Media or Privately via a link. Photos uploaded from LR Mobile and LR Web will be Full Resolution and sync back to LR Desktop under 'From LR Mobile'.

Hi, From the Originals in the Cloud aspect, If you have a CC account then technically you could upload your Originals to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and they would sync back (the Originals) to LR Desktop and (Smart Previews to) any Mobile devices you may have. Edits made on any device will sync if they are all signed in. It is not guaranteed as a back up solution but hopefully this will come, therefore it's best to test it and have your Originals additionally backed up elsewhere. The photos appear under 'From LR Mobile' in LR Desktop. Note: Syncs from LR Desktop to the Cloud only upload Smart Previews. Maybe give it a try but there are others more knowledgeable than me to give you guidance on how to use Lightroom. Unsure myself what happens when if you sync collections up then upload the Originals to through the Web Browser. I know it overwrites the Smart Previews in the Cloud but unsure if it syncs a duplicate of the Original back (Which you don't want). Theresa, can you give any insight oh this?

Hi Phil, Log in to http://lightroom.adobe.com and see if your Synced Collections with the Smart Previews from LR Desktop are there. If they are not, then the issue is the sync from the Desktop. If they are there it's something to do with the sync to the iPad.

Hi Andrea, Are the photos in a Collection as previous advice from Akash at Adobe has been "Try creating a new collection and add the same set of images and see if they Sync up" Seems like there maybe some kind of intermittent bug if Collections aren't used. You may have to get one of the Techs to have a look, try one of the Mobile forums: Lightroom for mobile & Apple TV This has more Adobe employee interaction: Photoshop Family Customer Community

Hi Mike, Unfortunately the Desktop App would have only synced Smart Previews up to the Cloud (by the way, presumably these photos didn't start their life on a mobile device before getting to LR Desktop? - As it's strange why the iPad versions synced back from the Cloud to the iPad are larger). Did you get the two versions option (download original and latest) when downloading from Adobe Photoshop Lightroom ?

If you log in to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and upload your originals to the relevant location it replaces the Smart Previews in the Cloud, as it knows they are the same, but I'm guessing it doesn't honour the edits then? Is it worth a test on one at least?

Out of interest Charlie, is the syncing clever enough to realise there is already a High Res on the Desktop computer and not sync it back? Or regardless will it just sync back a duplicate to the 'From LR Mobile' folder?

Hi, your best bet would probably be to upload the high res you need in the cloud to the relevant collections through Adobe Photoshop Lightroom this should overwrite the Smarts with the Originals. Maybe test it on one first (I guess also that it will also sync the high res back to the From LR Mobile Folder in LR Desktop?)

Hi, I think the Mobile App and the Desktop App work in different ways. On the Desktop it just points to folders on your HD whereas iOS does not have this folder structure. So yes, it is duping it, however this means you can delete ones that are imported into LrM from the Camera Roll (wait for confirmation on this - or do a test of one that is backed up elsewhere). Assuming you have CC account and are signed in, then what I believe should happen is that once connected to wifi (depending on your settings) LrM should sync to the Cloud and download the hi res to Lr Desktop and Optimise storage on the IPad (like Smart Previews for viewing). if you haven't signed in (or have a different Adobe ID ) on the Lr Mobile I would make sure you photos are backed up elsewhere whilst you test it as there are many cases of sync issues caused by Catalog conflict. If you don't have a CC acc then you should still be able to delete from the Camera Roll but photos will stay at Full Res within the App and they is no sync to the desktop (see other threads on here for discussion and requests for a solution to this).

Hi, Can't help on the hardware front unfortunately. When photos are imported into Lightroom Mobile it will sync the Full Resolution up to the Cloud (you can set 3G or Wifi) then will sync the Full Res again down to Lightroom Desktop when logged in. Once up in the Cloud, the files on your Mobile Device I believe will be optimised to reduce the space they take up. On Apple iOS at least the photos are locked in the app. I don't know if on Android you can access the file system but assume it is like iOS. Thus they won't copy to an external disk as it doesn't really work like the Desktop version. Also it can't sync over a local network. This has been requested though. For other requests and more info go to the two Lightroom Mobile forums (the user to user one like this and the photoshop family one that is read by Adobe).

I have nowhere near that many images but Lightroom Mobile and Web are pretty good for Sharing my family photos. Jusr Click Share and it gives you a Web Link for that Collection that others can view and download. The only problem is that oniy Smart Previews are synced from the desktop app. Their should be a way of sharing the whole catalog though with a limited number of people as long as they have an Adobe ID, with the option of read only.
