There is no shortcut to show the transparency of a PNG. If there is transparency it should be shown default. But sometimes the Preview can go wrong when it is calculated by the Graphics card.  If that is the case you can try to switch between the GPU and the CPU Preview and see if that helps. Yes, there are some inconsistencies with scaling threaded text boxes. Scaling with the bounding box does not work, it only scales the boxes but not the content. Scaling with the Scale tool works in previous versions like 2023/24 but not in 2025. Scaling using the Transform panel gives strange results in 2023/24 but works correct in 2025.   ... View more

The Preferences > Appearance of Black does influence the Options for Black on RGB and Grayscale Devices. Printers, images and monitor screens. It does not change the values in a PDF or Illustrator file. A 100% black ink (which always reflects some light) is never as dark as an RGB black (which means the absence of light). The preferences settings are just for display and export to image purposes. If you want a darker black in your PDF, use the suggestions for rich black as mentioned in the other replies. ... The PDF always has the images embedded, but it is strange that embedding them in Illustrator does not work. Placing instead of dragging is always recommended (and I speak from experience). You can try to install a previous version (see Other versions).
