Create an Illustrator file at 4600 X 2000 px and export it at 72 ppi. That will give you the exact pixel dimensions. A pixel does not have a fixed size. For historical reasons Illustrator defines a pixel as 1/72th of an inch. The same 4600 X 2000 px file can be smaller and larger depending on the amount of ppi you specify. At 72 ppi it will print as 126,8 cm X 70,56 cm At 300 ppi it will print as 38,95 X 16,93 cm

Export it at 72 ppi. Your file is at 300 ppi Look at the links panel and you will see the Dimensions in pixels But when it is scaled 24 % you will get the W and H you see in the Transform panel

If the artboard size and X Y coordinates don't contain fractions, it should export OK. Did you check the Use Artboards checkbox when exporting to jpeg?

Change your units to pixels. Check if the postions of the artboards do contain X Y values with fractional values. These should be full pixel values. This is an example of an artboard that can give you an additional pixel:

But that only works if there is transparency used in the Illustrator file. No transparency > no flattening > no outlines.

Monika's suggestion was to use CS6 if the client wants CS6 files. Then you don't have to worry about avoiding new features and backsaving to an older file format. CS6 and CC can be installed on the same machine.

That seems to work fine. And if you want you can always convert a shape to a Live Shape. I would save a copy of the original preferences as well as the modified one, so you can always swap the prefs.

Reading your response again. What I call transparency is the blending of objects when the top one has an opacity other than 100%. Or when a soft dropshadow blends with background objects. Or when a blend mode is applied. Clipping paths are different.

The actual vector information is not the same. In an EPS file transparency is flattened (because PostScript does not support transparency). That results in new objects, possibly some rasterized. PDF and AI can keep the actual vector information.

But even when you choose "Embed" I would not worry about the layers, linked or embedded it's the same content.

If you just Place the file as a link into another document, you will never see the layers.

Another way to solve the font issue: to have the same fonts installed on your computer as were used during the creation of the pdf.

Stefan, I don't think you can solve the problem of non embedded fonts on your side, the client who made the pdf has to take care of that. If you cannot ask the client to make a proper pdf, then i am afraid that the thickening of the fonts after outlining is something you have to live with. But the higher the resolution of the printer, the less visible the thickening becomes.

Don't convert text to outlines. When you convert text to outlines, the hinting information is lost resulting in variable thickness.

Now I understand, we are talking about different things. A corner widget is the thing you use to make round corners. But the behaviour you are talking about has changed in the latest version. So maybe it is time for a feature request.

Louise, I am afraid that is how it's designed. With Bounding box on; corner widgets. With Bounding box off : corner widgets with the Direct Selection Tool, but even without the DST you can manipulate them in the Transform panel. If you like to see a different behaviour, you can do a feature request. http://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

You do not need to have the bounding box enabled to see the corner widgets. Just select the object (or a single corner anchor point) with the direct selection tool.
