Hi there,   Thanks for getting back to me. I re-downloaded version 28.7.5 of 2025 Illustrator and I haven't experienced the issue since. Potentially something with the latest version?    I did also try new Beta version and same issue - I took some screenshots when it was happening but note, it was happening on 2025 too. Unfortunately, I lost a lot of work when the bug occured so I'm hestitant to replicate again. Image 1 shows how the image has disappeared - You can still see a line of what the image was at the top. Image 2 shows when I'm in Outline View (command + Y) and can see that the image sillhouette is there and I can select it but when I leave Outline View the image is still gone/empty. The link on the link panel also showed as empty - Sorry I didn't get a screenshot. Please let me know what you think could be the issue! ... View more

Although, for us users, in practice it makes no difference whether the problem is in PS or AI, I understand that for Adobe, it makes sense to know exactly which application the problem is in. I believed it was in Illustrator because the problem appears in both the current version of PS and in the latest versions of PS Beta. Hendy,   1) I believe this answer from Bobby may give a glimpse of what is needed to ensure clear text (and other artwork) and how print based advice can go against it, https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/pixelated-linked-files-after-exporting-for-screens/m-p/14503451#M401887   2) PNG24 gives you a full set of colours, just like JPEG, where as PNG8 gives you a limited set of 256 colours, the same as GIF, just as Monika said. It's 2025 and the bug still here. I'm using Illustrator v29.3.1 (64 bit).   Why is so hard to fix such a simple bug?   The "Export for screens" is ignoring the "Smooth Edges" setting in the JPG. This used to work a few versions ago. This is not a DPI or file size/resolution! Illustrator is not applying the correct algorithym to smooth the edges of the images! ... View more
