Here are a couple of other suggestions.   If the date you are looking for is something like a birthday, go to the Search window and type in Birthday + Smart Tag as your search criteria.  This will bring up all photos that Elements has Smart Tagged with Birthday.  (You also need to click on the Grid arrow button at the left in order to be able to work with those photos.)   You can also use the Timeline (Ctrl+L) to quickly scroll to the months that you are looking for.   That should make it easier to find a particular date.   If you are intending to group all the photos of a particular (significant) date, you might also create an Album for them when you find them in the grid. ... It's not clear to me why you are unable to browse to the new location of your files.  Please explain in more detail what is happening.  How did you move the catalog from the old computer to the new one?  The best way to do this is to backup the catalog on the old computer and restore it on the new one.  You can probably still do this.  See this article for details. ... Since the same problem occurs in both 2024 and 2025, I doubt whether resetting the tool will have any effect. Here are a few other suggestions:   Have you tried increasing the size of the selection cursor?  (What part of the image are you trying to protect?) Although it is probably not a factor, another thing I would try is to have the Layers panel open in the workspace rather than the Styles panel which is currently open. In Edit>Preferences>Performance, change the current setting of the Use Graphic Processor for improved performance box Under Preferences>Display and Cursor, adjust the cursor Under Windows>Settings, make changes to the mouse pointer speed etc. Also, make sure that your graphics card drive is up to date.     ... You can never have too many backups!!    The auto backup that is created when you close the program (according to the schedule that you set in Preferences) only protects the catalog itself, not the media files.  The backup is fairly small and I believe it rotates on a 3 file cycle.  IOW, older automatic backups are deleted when the newer ones are created.  The purpose of this backup is to resolve issues that (rarely) occur when the catalog becomes corrupt and won't open.  The backup is then supposed to automatically kick in.   Personally, I don't use this automatic backup (primarily because I can be opening and closing the Organizer many times a day and it would become an annoyance).  Copy-and-pasting the catalog folder to another drive is my preferred way of backing up my catalog (along with synching copies of my media files among several different drives).  If this is what you do, I have a small tip that saves some time.  Compress/zip the catalog folder before copying it to another drive.  Then unzip the file when it has been copied.  In my experience, even with zipping and unzipping the folder, this can be much faster than copying the folder itself, particularly with a large catalog.  The reason for this is that the catalog folder contains thousands of .very small text files.  These take exponentially longer to read and write to a hard drive than a single (zipped) file of the same size as all the small ones.  The compression also slightly reduces the total size of the files being transferred. ... @RedSanders, I am in the same situation as you.  Over the years, I have been OCD about naming family and friends in my photos.  I couldn't begin to calculate how much time I have devoted to my catalog which now numbers almost 300k media files.  And over the years, facial recognition in Elements has improved quantifiably, both with respect to recognition and performance.  Probably 7 or 8 years ago, I felt that I could manually tag photos with names faster than using the FR tool.  Now, there is no question that Elements can do the job faster than I can.   It's interesting that you mention scanning your prints.  Over the weekend, I pledged to my daughter that I would start doing the same with my thousands of photos that were taken before the digital age.    Since it was first created, the Organizer has been my favorite piece of software.  So, I am happy to share my knowledge of the program with anyone who needs it. ... I believe this is by design.  AFAIK, Elements only records video GPS data in the Organizer's database file, not in the file itself.  The use of metadata in video files is even less standardized than image files.  So, it would not be surprising for this to be the case.  You may want to ask over in the Premiere Elements forum.  You may get a more definitive answer over there. ... I'm not sure that anything has changed in the past several years with respect to inkjet printers, other than that some higher end printers will use a greater number of inks.  Yours is not what I would call a high end printer.  (I have the ET-3850.)  It has only 3 ink cartridges plus black.  I would therefore not be worrying too much about rendering intent and similar complexities of color management.  You are unlikely to see any difference no matter which setting you choose.     Elements does not handle the CMYK color space so you can ignore that as a factor.  The printer will be converting Elements colors to work with the color cartridges that it has.   The  most important factor for your printing is to make sure that the color profile used by your printer is designed for the paper you are using.  You are likely to get the best results using Epson paper.  If you are not doing that, then you should see if the manufacturer of your paper has a color profile that can be downloaded and used with your printer.   You should also make sure which device (the printer or your computer) is managing color.  You need to check the settings in both the printer driver and in Elements.  And you may also get different output if you use the Organizer or the Editor to print.  Although similar, they use different print engines.   In short, getting the result you want is most often a case of trial and error.   I would also say that it is best for the printer to handle the color management, not Elements.   And if you want to see whether Elements 2025 is worth it for you, you can download a 7-day free trial here. ...
