3/4/25 using 26.3.0 and I just started having this problem about a month into working on one document. I have the preferences set to fill with placeholder text. Nothing works. I've got a lot of text layers. My document is 2.33 GB. I shouldn't be having memory issues though. I've got 48 gb of ram, 12 gb of Vram, and 2 tb of storage space. I've got my memory usage set to let photoshop use 70%. I haven't had a single issue until today, and I've been working on this one document for over a month. If I double click the icon for a text layer in the layers panel, the text in the document becomes active. If I start changing the text or typing, photoshop reverts to myriad pro. If I select the text tool first, then reselect the proper font and THEN start typing, it shows the correct font. Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

Me too, Super frustrating. Used Potatoshop for 20 years and never had this. For me, it goes: • I type something in a text box. • I copy paste that text box somewhere else. • When I go to overwrite that text, it defaults back to Myriad. • Thus, I manually have to change the font back each and every time. No plugins, nothing weird. 26.3.0.

Well, I'm glad that it's fixed for the font you were using, but it still doesn't work for all of them. The issue persists as of 26.3.0 for me with the Daveau font I gave an example of several posts up.

@michael_kay_ I suggest you upgrade Photoshop to the latest version 25.9. The preference is available in the version. If you want to stay with 25.7, follow the instruction I posted previously. The copy is below.
---
Photoshop 24.7 or later calculates the default font size based on document resolution and zoom factor.
To disable this feature and return to the legacy behavior, set "DefaultFontSize 0" in PSUserConfig.txt.
Please read:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/enable-optional-extensions-photoshop-cc.html#defaultfontsize
Then, scroll up to the top of page to see how you can set up PSUserConfig.txt file.

This issue has most likely been fixed in recent Photoshop releases. Try the latest 25.0. It has many new features and bug fixes. I hope you like it, but if you don't like it, you can go back to 24.0 either by keeping old version when installing 25.0 (advanced option) or by selecting "Other versions" in the three dots icon menu at the end of the application line in All apps tab in Creative Cloud Desktop in case the installer deleted the 24.0 when installing 25.0.
If you still see the issue with Photoshop 25.0, please let me know the font name that has the issue.

@Lital2252941669o3 – Good to know, thanks for the update. I made some minor cosmetic updates to the code, so make sure that you are using the latest version (it wasn't worth renaming as a 1.1 version). Please mark the replies that helped as a correct answer to show that this has been resolved.

@Nikky26171419b5y2 Since you have so many layers in a group, let's make sure none of the layers are locked. Select a group in Layers panel. Open the context menu (hamburger menu) and select "Lock All Layers in Group..." (Don't use keyboard shortcut Cmd+/) You will see a dialog. Make sure none of the checkboxes are checked. Click OK. This will unlock all layers in the group. Then try Cmd+T.

@Clifton29496545tr9w
The reason for the text appearing a vertical line is you are setting the horizontal scaling to 0%. Set it to 100% will fix the issue.
When you experience something like this while dealing with text editing in Photoshop, and you don't know how to fix it, a good command to remember is "Reset Character" command in the context menu (hamburger menu) of the Character panel. Select the type layer in the Layers panel, and execute the command. It will reset the settings for the characters default for the layer. Go from there.

When I enter, it just goes into oblivion on the right it doesn't make any linebreaks,
By @danielb94023111
First: if you are on Windows, you have an alphabetic Enter to start a new paragraph as well as a numeric Enter. On a Mac, you have Return to start a new paragraph and a numeric Enter. (You tagged Mac, Windows, and iPadOS.) Use the alphabetic Enter/Return to start a new paragraph, not the numeric Enter, as it does not do the same thing in most Adobe applications.
In addition to leading that was mentioned, it could also be space above or below a paragraph since it happens when you press Enter (assuming the alphabetic Enter/Return).
Select your text with the Type tool and open the Character and Paragraph panels (Window menu). Do you see a very high leading or paragraph spacing? If not, show a screen shot with those panels and your selected text.

@shaver80 Yes, if you paste Simplified Chinese characters when Ps UI is set to English, the font used for Chinese characters is Kozuka Gothic. There is currently no way to change it other than setting the UI to Simplified Chinese. You mentioned "If I paste first and then change the font, I also see boxes." When this happens, select a glyph appeared as a box. What is the font name appeared in the font menu in the tool options bar? Do you still see Kozuka or you see the proprietary font name?

Well, I agree to your view that usually hebrew fonts work quite well when it comes to diacritics. However this one does not with the version of PS used but it did work with an earlier version (and does work with Libre writer). Hence it is not that this font does not work at all and it might be an issue with the font but may be an issue of rendering this font. As this font is a font from Masterfont it is not any hobbyist font but from one of the largest hebrew font companies. Furthermore Koren Siddur is a rather legendary font for printing siddurim (usually with diacritics). However I did contact the shop which has sold the font to me. If this might bring any further information I will be glad to share. Thank you very much so far for your help. Greeting JB
