You use to be able to literally make a new layer and just use the gradient tool as if you were placing marks with the brush tool, as many times as you chose, by default. I could place 100 gradient lines on a single layer in about 10 seconds. It use to be as simple as that. I'm not sure why people make out a more convoluted thing to be simpler and more intuitive just because they are use to it. It literally use to be the simplest way, prior to this. Just as simple point of fact... all of these "answers" are more convoluted than using the gradient tool like a simple brush tool as many time as you wanted to, on a layer, regardless of whether or not we have found a way to make it function as asked. I guess I don't use gradients much but I need to today and here I am trying to sort through this nonsense. Yes, it has changed. Because here I am reading instead of working. 100% verified.

Oh sorry I just somehow missed... I'm stupid blind. Anyway, I found out sometimes even this method doesn't work with smart materials. We have to save the mesh+height+normal view as 2D view. The problem that normal gamma is wicked (shifted) so need to adjust in PS.

Hi @eva_7601,
Thanks for reaching out. I checked and found that you have an active monthly subscription to Adobe Photoshop which is why you have been charged. The subscription was canceled on Feb 16, 2025 and will continue till March 15, 2025.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Same problem, went through various Adobe support teams. Nobody was able to help or to propose solutions that a quick Google search didn't already proposed. This kind of support is honestly embarassing if you think how much this software cost.

Thanks so much! Had this issue for days and this hack actually fixed it. It's INSANE that photoshop constantly has these problems and the only sollustion is to go into the software and create random text files or edit existing text files. Beyond frustrating.

I thought the same thing and even told the rep I was speaking with on the phone that as I went through the drop-down menu while he was on the phone and he said and I quote "that's an adobe question". I am using a Mac. I did download the printer driver from Canon and had the rep walk me through it because when I initially downloaded it, the paper types through the Quality & media menu in the print dialog box were very limited (no choice of paper type, etc). I am also wondering why I do not have an Adobe RGB option in the drop down menu pic above? And, thank you for your help.

Which exact application are you trying to use to open your 3D model and what format is it (e.g. fbx, obj..etc).
Photoshop does not open 3D models. 3D was discontinued from Photoshop and v22.2 is the last version that worked with 3D. You mention Adobe Substance 3D but that is a group of applications. Which one are you using, or do you mean the Adobe Substance 3D Viewer Beta? If so, I can open a model created in Blender, exported as fbx, in that Beta viewer. Dave

Obviously proofing from sRGB to sRGB doesn't make any sense. I have done it only to demonstrate that there is something wrong with the current implementation when a GPU is used. If I can't trust a conversion that is 1:1 there are probably issues with any other profile conversion, so this bug should be addressed by Adobe.

In older versions (e.g. v13) the two were labelled 'Tile Generator' and 'Tile Generator Color'. They are now labelled 'Tile Generator Grayscale' and 'Tile Generator Color'. They are the same nodes, the additional label is just for clarity. Dave

I found how to get to it. Click one Photoshop>preferences> click the box to enable developer mode. It'll add that in the drop-down list from save a copy. Keep in mind that this is only for websites/online use, not for printing. This setting switches it to RBG.

Same here! I'm using Factor A, and it will show the glyphs in the panel, and it worked up until yesterday. Now it's stuck ON the glyphs and won't let me change back to the standard characters. The bugs Adobe has been having the last few years is really starting to annoy me, I'm going to go till the end of my subscription and cancel coz I've had enough of it not working properly anymore. I've tried resetting the preferences, reinstalling photoshop, updating photoshop, restarting the computer and nothing has fixed it.

You are running a barely minimal spec. Your GPU is integrated which means it uses shared system RAM rather than having its own dedicated RAM. That RAM is only 8GB which is the bare minimum and therefore is lessened further by the need to share between system memory and GPU memory.
As an immediate step though, your RAM driver is 42 months old, so start by looking for the most recent driver for the Intel IRIS XE Graphics site, either from your PC manufacturer or from Intel.

That wasn't what anyone said - it was just mentioned in passing as a possible cause (hacker-modified code). Which isn't entirely unreasonable, given the extremely high volume of pirated copies being offered on the internet, to unsuspecting buyers.
But the general consensus is that this is most likely the GPU driver. If not that, then possibly an overheating/malfunctioning hardware component.
The bottom line is in any case that a modern application cannot cause a BSOD. That's prevented by sandboxes and insulating layers. What the application can do, is trigger a BSOD by making specific calls that expose latent problems.

If you lose your preferences in minor dot updates, something's wrong, like not having full administrator privileges in your user account.
With a major whole-number version update, preferences do not carry over, they never have. There is an option to migrate preferences, but I don't recommend it because of the high risk of accumulated errors carrying over as well.
As for actions, brushes, anything that can be saved out - save out and keep it in a safe place. Then it can always be easily reloaded.
