If you have a clip selected in a bin in the Project panel or visible in the Source monitor, and a track selected in the Track Targets for video/audio, then hitting the period key is the keyboard shortcut for putting that clip on that track right where the playhead is sitting.   Neil ... View more

If you're finding previously used settings are not retained for some saving methods consider File > Save Selection As... you'd need to highlight the section or all the audio before using this feature. I use it all the time and have the keyboard shortcuts on my muscle memory.   Save Selection As... always seems to retain the last used settings. ... View more
