Except it didn't in previous version you could fill with a gradient without having to go through the appearance panel. It's really annoying when things are changed randomly for no apparent reason and a way you've been working for ages is suddenly not working anymore.

Great but it needs to be fixed soon. It's really frustrating and annoying. The linking/placing feature didn't need to be messed with. It always found the links required if I had to relink and everything was in the same folder it would just relink everything automatically now i have to do an extra step instead of just opening the file and finding the link in a specific folder. In previous versions if you were missing a link you could relinking at opening and if all the other missing links were in that folder it would find them and open it. Now i have to open it ignore it and then relink. sorry but this update wasn't needed at all.

I see we are still missing the replace all feature in Illustrator 2025 (illustrator v29.0) This is causing a huge issue with time in prepress work. I also have the issue now of having to relink individual placed files one at a time instead of being able to do it seuquentially. I select two images to replace it used to be I would replace one and the window would open to replace the second now it doesn't even do that. It stops after replacing one image.       Both these features really need to be fixed.

Replace all and searching for missing links isn't the same thing at all. If I'm using a template that has 20 links of one file and want to replace all of them at the same time because I have to run another sheet of a different design I now have to relink each image separately. This isn't acceptable in a prepress environment as press sheets are often set up this way. The new feature is useless to me and is costing significant time. It also doesn't help the if I select 4 images to link it will no longer automatically link one then pop up the menu to select the next. It will place one then just stop. This is becoming useless.

Can we please have this back. Clearly it's an incredibly useful feature, especially when doing prepress. Even if it's through the link feature, which to be honest, is less useful, but would at least make it usable.

Agreed I had to workaround today. Save out for CC legacy and open in Illustrator 27.9 as it's still there. Still a pain.

at least there is a workaround for finding the other image links in the same folder by using the links palette. When opening the file and it's searching hit ignore. Then in the link palette relink one and check the "search for missing links" it's less convenient but at least it works. The replace all there isn't much unless you start giving everything the same file name and having them in a bunch of different folders. Not convenient.

Yes I see that feature in the links palette and that works fine. However, the replace all feature is very useful when setting up press sheets in prepress. If I have 50 links ganged up of file Link 1 and I need to replace them all with a different version ie Link 2, I now have to manual select each one and replace that 50 times. With the replace all feature I can just hide the original link 1 then when it asks to relink I can click replace all and relink all 50 at once.

Updated to the current illustrator 28.5 and I am now missing the replace all when I open a file and have to replace links. Also when I do replace the link it doesn't find all the missing links that are in the same folder. It used to update automatically when missing files were in the same folder. This is very frustrating when doing press sheets with multiple files and I've used this feature frequently as I've had to use the same file as a template and update multiple images it was an easy way to change out artwork from one image to another.

okay fun but is the why when I go to replace links in my file the "replace all" feature has disappeared and when I do relink, it doesn't find all the linked files in the same folder like it used to? I have to relink each one or use the links palette? WHile this new fearture is helpful when the file is already open not very useful when opening a file.

May have a temporary solution. I noticed on the ellipses in Creative Cloud there is a selection for opeing Intel which appears to have fixed the problem for now. Trying to remember to open this every time may be an issue. At least it seems to be working with the files I had issues with. Hopefully in the next update it will be fixed for the M1.

I keep getting this message when I try to place a PDF into illustrator or relink it. Even if the file is already created all of a sudden it won't place the PDF. An Unkown error is detected. I'm using a new IMAC Apple M1 16gb of ram. this is not happening on either of the other intel systems. We need to be able to place the PDF's for certain templates and printing templates and it's increasingly frustrating I keep getting this error on a brand new machine while it works on older machines. We are using the same settings and doesn't seem to be a file name issue it's not every time but certain files. One instance it was the 2nd, 4th and 5th page of a document but the rest were fine. Same image will place into indesign no problem.

Thanks for this. I checked and it seemed to be set right. It was doing it to each document. Restarted my system it was still doing it. I opened Illustrator 2019 and that was right then went back to 2020 and it was working right again. Not sure what it was. Thanks for this though, something I hadn't thought of and will keep watch in future.

It's not happening in any other program and when I type quotation marks in the Find/replace field they come out right. I've tried changing fonts and changing my keyboard settings, Can-Eng and US english. Nothing works.
It's typing fine in Indesign and Photoshop but not in illustrator.
