Hi, I've updated to the latest version (Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.2.0 20241207.r.140 bc85906 arm64) And I still have issues with these shortcuts. None of the solutions mentioned here work. (deleting or changing the layer boundary thing, etc...) Furthermore, changing shortcuts seems to be disfunctional overall. For example: deleting the shortcuts for next or previous brush doesn't work. It shows as deleted but in practice the shortcut is still active. (I work on mac with French Azerty keyboard by the way) Any help would be much appreciated

Great, they released the 25.12.1 update and STILL haven't fixed the issue with the legacy healing tool. I guess it's just to force us to use 26 (which is buggy, by the way).

If you check "layers" when saving the PSD, then your layers should be preserved, its easy to miss though, far better if the default was to save WITH layers.
I hope this helps neil barstow, colourmanagement net :: adobe forum volunteer google me "neil barstow colourmanagement" for lots of free articles on colour management [please only use the blue reply button at the top of the page, this maintains the original thread title and chronological order of posts]

Ok so Paste in place has worked, but I didn't need to do this previously. If anyone knows why this started happnening it would be intersting to know the reason, and may be of some inspiration for future projects in fact.

You can check your time machine disk for it also. If you're on a mac that is, and have time machine backing up your work. Sounds like you saved it in the wrong format. If you have an earlier version saved as a psd maybe you can retrieve it.

if you dont have the new photoshop, you can probably get away with using liquify with a large brush. and possibly puppet warp.

There are many ways to do this but here's the easy way: LAYER>NEW FILL LAYER. (pick the color you want). Change mode to "color" On the layer palette, make sure fill layer is set to "color" mode (or multiply) then adjust the mask transparancy or color as needed.

what sample size are you using? I have mine set to 5x5 average, sample all layers, and turned off the sample ring. Maybe change your setting and see if that works better. I have my cursors set to precise also. if that doesnt work, also check your ram usage and graphics processor settings. history states and cache levels. (in your preferences).

I normally delete them, once the focus stack is done. Once in a while I need to tweak something and need the layer, as Dianer mentioned.

Legacy Compositing wasn't in 2017 - actually it was, but there wasn't a new compositing. Have you thought of updating?

On my PC the "Use Graphics Processor" is selected but not the "Legacy Composting". I think somehow the Preference file was corrupted. Resting it has taken care of the problem. Thanks for your help!

thank you Ged, they figured out it was between the graphics processor and the legacy composting. when I turned them both on, the problem went away. Previously I only had the legacy composting on and the processor off. The other guy at work only had the graphics processor on and the composting off. so when we turned both the processor and the composting on, it solved the problem.

as bob suggests, the best way is..replace the whole face from another photo. There is too much missing detail in her face. you can take a new pic with your phone then in photoshop, strip it in keeping her original hair line that is against the tree and his shirt. then just color correct it to match. we call that the "Frankenstein ". I do it all the time.. lol.

Up and down is the output, left and right the input. So moving the black slider up gives you a higher maximum black point and moving the white slider down is a lower max white. So both maximums are closer to grey. Moving the sliders sideways toward the middle affects where black and white start. Anything to the left of black is set to black, anything to the right of white is white.
