 This is one of the most annoying pop-ups in Photoshop ever! I have the latest version [v 26.4.1] andd still it disrupts my work as it pops up suggesting that I should update Photoshop! Docking the options bar definitely works. BUT.... When you dock it and then open a drop down in the options bar (tool options at the far left is the obvious example) the drop down is hidden by any palettes you have there. Rendering the drop down useless. Unless you take the time to move the pallette, make your selection, and then move the pallette back. Which you don't want to be doing multiple times a day.  This seems like an obvious UI bug but so does the overlapping of elements on the options bar when not docked.  This is one of the most annoying pop-ups in Photoshop ever! I have the latest version [v 26.4.1] andd still it disrupts my work as it pops up suggesting that I should update Photoshop! My experience is if you select two consecutive layers and use Command-E the layers will merge and take the name of the top layer, but that if you select just one layer and use Command-E that layer will be merged into the one below and take the name of the bottom layer.  Also if I am not mistaken, it's not just the name that is retained but also the history of the layer for the purposes of the history brush. In the above example using the history brush in the first instance will enable brushing to history of the top layer and in the second example you wil be able to brush to the history of the bottom layer. ... I just became aware of this issue today, while attempting to assist an Art Director with this issue. The Art Director is using a Mac Pro (2019) with 384GB RAM, running 14.4 (Build 23E224) with a pair of Dell 1920x1080 monitors. Any dialog box opening in Photoshop triggered the issue, whether an open/save dialog box, a plugin settings pallet, or what have you. To work around this, the Art Director is CTRL clicking on the Dock icon for Photoshop, and selecting "Show All Windows", which then reveals the hidden dialog box, so it can be responded to. I am wondering if there is some obscure key combination, either in MacOS, or in Adobe applications, that would toggle a condition of hiding secondary windows. I have confirmed that this is not due to any settings in Accessibility>Keyboard. All options under that panel are Off. As most, if not all, of the people experiencing this issue seem to have laptops, I thought it would be pertinent to notify the discussion that this is not a purely laptop dependent issue. ... I agree, this was a silly feature, or at least the way it was implemented is very juvenile. I honestly can't think of a single scenario where I need to share SO urgently that I need a permanent floating blue button accessible at all times. Yes, Adobe, I saw your very dodgy response suggesting we just change the color of it. That is not a solution and frankly that kind of blatantly dodgy suggestion is frankly annoying. A floating button like that should never be placed in this type of UI. I literally have to minimize the window to see the Accept button in certain scenarios, and it also blocks other tools depending on my layout. It was an online course that I took a few years ago, and course itself had been recorded a good five years or six years before I took it, which is why the techniques they were teaching were so out of date. I found it on websiite called, Udemey.. The course was called something to the effect of, "Digital Painting with Photoshop," but I can no longer recall the actual title. I know Udemy has since taken it down, because the last time I tried to look it up it was no longer available. Hopefully they. have a newer version of it by now. I opened PS 25.5 today and the Verification window ran as if it were the first time running since an update, even though I ran the update last week. The version is still 25.5 and out of curiosity, I tested the Liquify tool, and other than the cursor starting off a bit erratic when the Liquify window opens, it settles within a second and the tool is working fine now.
