Thank you for the suggestions. I looked at the blend mode on the Bevel and Emboss. Looks like that's where the problem is. I have another method of creating skin texture that I prefer to use so I'm not going to pursue this. I really appreciate your comments. Thanks so much !!!

I was recently helping a friend set up a new laptop. She will be getting Photoshop and Lightroom in the near future. She downloaded the Adobe Creative Cloud app and I went over the details with her. When we looked at the current plans it appeared that the Photoshop/Lightroom 20GB plan for $9.99 a month is no longer available. However when we looked at purchasing Lightroom ONLY it looks like the combination plan IS still available for $9.99 per month. She won't need more than 20GB of storage. Is the $9.99 monthly plan still available? Thanks for your reply. By @donp30872227 Are you confused about the difference between Lightroom and Lightroom Classic? It sounds like you are. Using Lightroom (not Lightroom Classic) with just 20GB of cloud storage seems like a poor choice, any reasonable sized photo collection will need more than 20GB of cloud storage. The opposite is true for Lightroom Classic, the 20GB can't get filled up by Lightroom Classic because files uploaded via LrC are smart previews and do not count towards your 20GB. So the plan with Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop and 20GB is the one you want, but I think you want to use Lightroom Classic and not Lightroom with that 20GB. It's called the Photography Plan and it costs $9.99 US Dollars per month. See the link above from @DClark064

I must be blessed, because none of the Windows 11 computers I own and/or use with CC2024 programs have this problem. Since that's the case, I'm not sure that Webveiw2 is the ultimate culprit here. I would suggest looking for other commonalities in conjunction with this issue. Same/similar hardware, other software that could be interacting, plugins, etc.

An interesting technique that I have used myself (in another image editor). A bit awkward to see the destructive editing, though. It's a shame there is no method to isolate the red channel non-destructively in Photoshop and/or reuse layer masks non-destructively (instancing of layer masks such as in After Effects). Or assign adjustment layers to layer masks only (without clipping mask work-arounds). Or combine multiple layer masks non-destructively. Photoshop is showing its age. Its core hasn't received any changes for ages now. Would be nice if the development team would address those shortcomings. *edit* at least the gradient tool finally got an update. I've been using gradients like that for over 15 years now since I switched away from Photoshop to an alternative for my own personal work.

I found out how to change the Replace Tool cursor color and opacity in Photoshop 25.1.0. Go to the "gear" icon in the tool bar. In the pull down menu it offers many different cursor colors and opacity. Hope this helps everyone. Thanks

I retouch quite a few exterior images of buildings and hotels. I use Lightroom for my initial handling of a file. Most of the time Lightroom's perspective correction is great however my problem is the way it makes the corrections. It always "squeezes" the bottom of the image rather than "expanding" the top of the building. I wish we had a way to choose how the correction is made. Lightroom forces me to crop a lot of the image out using this method and usually the crop is too tight to use. I have to manually correct the perspective in Photoshop which is not a big deal but if Lightroom would do it, my workflow would take less time when dealing with many files. If anyone has found a workaround for this please let me know. Maybe that option will be available in future updates. Fingers crossed ! Thanks so much for your input.

CS6 used a different method for lighting effects. It was changed later (I can't remember the exact version) to use the, now deprecated, 3D engine.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
Does turning on »Deactivate Native Canvas« (Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Thanks for the update.
If you aren't familiar with it, I strongly recommend exploring the Camera Raw Filter. If you are looking to "Defog" an image I think you'll find the Dehaze slider particularly powerful.
Be sure to turn your layer(s) into a Smart Object before applying a filter. That way you apply these changes non-destructively and can easily change them later.

After contacting Asus (my motherboard manufacturer) I talked to tech support and learned that the SATA ports that I am using for DVD's on my motherboard are disabled when an M.2 SSD is plugged into a particular port on the motherboard. They share functionality !! I was unaware of this. I moved my M.2 drive to another port and both of my DVD players work perfectly. It did indicate this in the manual but I misread it when searching for the cause of my problem. Thank you ASUS. Now back to work. Thanks for your suggestions.

I have since found some related posts here and tried the recommended action of removing my Settings Folder from Photoshop CC 2022. A new folder was built when I opened PS again with all new settings as expected. My workspaces and actions were missing but I went back to the previous Settings folder and added them to the new folder. I've tried several sky replacements with the new setup. Fingers crossed, so far it's working. Thanks to those who previously posted their information. BTW, resetting everything can be a real pain in the rear so everyone be sure to BACK UP all of your actions and work spaces. Save and Save often!!

Thank you all for your replies. Yes, I did inadvertently open Lightroom CC Cloud instead of my Lightroom Classic. I had quite a few updates from Adobe today and I failed to notice that I opened the wrong version of Lightroom. I'm aware of the cloud version and prefer to use the Classic version on my computer. I feel a little stupid but sometimes when "improvements" are made in software they aren't always the best thing. Again, many thanks for the replies.
