Thanks for the tip. I followed the instructions as described in your link. However, the problem persists. I find it strange that even after deleting the previews and clearing the cache, (raw) b&w pictures still immediately appear in b&w, as if some preview still resides somewhere. Or is this supposed to work like this nowadays? I remember that LrC didn't show this behaviour long time ago.

What do you mean specifically with mismatched? I always have many many many files with "metadata file needs to be updated". I'm not sure why, since I have the habit of saving the metadata on my whole project (i.e. root folder) when I'm done with the project.

No, these are off. I know Face Detection and Address Lookup have been causing short lags in the past, so I check whether they I turned off whenever the issue appears.

I tried multiple settings before (see original post). Right now it is configured at 2048px/High. The resolution of my main display is 1920x1200px and Scale (Windows setting) is set to 125%.

Does someone have any more ideas? Is there a way to see which files are being read, or what Lightroom is doing? It feels as if LrC keeps indexing these hard disks ... Read speed is ~15MB/s on the saturated disks (first J: then K:), and write speed is ~1MB/s on my S: drive (where the catalog is stored). Every week I loose hours of time struggling with these issues in LrC.

Thanks for your quick reply. I don't import my pictures, I synchronize a parent folder. But, as I stated in my post: "All previews are rendered before checking at 1:1.". I.e. after synchronizing I render all previews at 1:1.

Hi, My previews are initially soft (low resolution, slightly compressed) when I preview them in loupe at "fit". Until I zoom in to 100% (goes pretty quickly, ~1s), and return to "fit". From then on the preview is high resolution as it should be. Just waiting does not generate the high resolution preview. All previews are rendered before checking at 1:1. I tried different preview catalog settings, different resolutions, different qualities. This does not seem to have any influence on the previews. The previews were always discarded before changing settings and rendering them again. In attachment: a preview before zooming, and one after zooming. I hope someone knows what's going on, as I'm wasting my time zooming in and out again on nearly every image. My system: Windows 11 23H2, i7 14700KF, 64GB, RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, catalog and pictures are on m.2 SSD. Windows and all drivers are up to date.

And the problem's back again ... It's been working fine now for a while, and now the issue is back again. My customer tells me they left some comments. No badge shows on the collection icon. No badges whatsoever are shown on the cells, and when sorting by Last Comment Time, the photos appear in a seemingly random order. Something interesting to know: this collection had been shared before, customer selected (liked) some photos, and I made it private again (never stopped syncing). The customer asks me to select some additional photos, so I make it public again. They made some comments, and now we're here. Oh, and of course everything works fine in Lr. Is this a cheap trick to get us to move to the far inferior Lr? no badges in LrC

This behaviour has been annoying me to for a very long time. The disappointment with v14 has finally brought me to report/contribute on this topic. I do a lot of folder management in LrC. Sadly, this doesn't go very smoothly. As reported by the OP, every time I create a new folder + include selected photos, the folder tree collapses. I need to reopen the folder tree and scroll to the right folder. Furthermore, most of the time some seemingly random folders seem to have been expanded. If you need to move/organize a complete shoot, this get annoying pretty quickly. Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Lightroom Classic 14.0.1 Catalog is on a 4x4 m.2 SSD nVidia RTX4060 Ti 16GB studio drivers Futhermore, this folder management seems to trigger another bug. I'm not sure that moving files to other folders is the cause, but it seems related. This bug just kicked in again right now after doing some folder management. LrC is really starting to test my patience.

Hi Sameer, Thanks for your reaction. As stated in my original post, the catalog is not on this HDD: "There's nog catalog, caches, or anything else LrC related stored on this disk. " The catalog is stored on a PCI 4x4 m.2 SSD.

Symptoms in LrC (14.0.1):
LrC boots very slowly, takes a very long time to close (process stays active in Task Manager).
Library actions take a long time: flags and other labels appear with a long delay (10s?), folders stay greyed out after a folder action.
Other actions take a long time as well: save metadata, paste settings in develop, opening the export window, ...
Symptom in Windows (11 Pro 23H2):
Disk J (WD HDD): is continuously 100% saturated: 100% Active time, 5-15MB/s read speed. See attachment.
This has been happening for quite some time. At any given moment this problem seems to return. I know how to solve it (temporarily) but it always seems to come back after a while.
It always seems to return to the J: HDD
The way I fix it (temporarily) is to sync metadata on the J disk. This takes a couple of hours, but after the process has finished, the HDD returns to a normal idle state (0% active time).
The J disk is in my LrC library, it's a disk where I move files to when I'm done processing them.
There's nog catalog, caches, or anything else LrC related stored on this disk. Only photos (168k) and xmp files.
I'm able to fix it, but it keeps returning. Every time this happens I can't work properly for several hours. That's a problem as I'm a full time photographer.

Where do I find this file, "TranslatedStrings*.txt"? When I search in explorer I can only find this as part of the XRiteColorChecker plugin, and this file doesn't contain the "ToggleObjectAware" string. Something like this should be possible to fix in a next minor update, isn't it?

With the "old" GeForce Experience I had the same behaviour: the popup appeared, but the crop was reset. Now I use the updated version of GeForce Experience: NVIDIA App, version 10.01.1.256. I guess the crop not being reset anymore coincided with the Nvidia update.

I found the culprit: Nvidia Overlay had a shortcut for CTRL + ALT + R. I disabled this shortcut and now I can reset my crop again 🙂 Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Yes, language setting is en. I reset my preferences using the SHIFT + ALT keys at startup. Settings have been succesfully reset. But: the problem persists. CTRL + ALT + R still doesn't reset the crop. I also disabled all plugins. No fix.

Lightroom Classic 13.4 Windows 11 In develop the keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + R does not reset the crop. When using the menu (Settings > Reset Crop), the reset occurs as expected.

CTRL + ALT + O works in Loupe, but never in Develop. Sadly, I'm a Develop/keyboard kind of guy, so there's no useful workaround for me.

Hi,
Since the Lightroom Classic 13.4 update I can no longer trigger the Show Loupe Overlay using the keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + O.
It still works using the menu (View > Loupe Overlay > Show).

Today I discovered another problem with 13.3.1. I'm talking about the exact same shared collection here. Both Lr and LrC are completely synced without errors. Lr has 236 likes. LrC has 239 likes I've singled down the 3 photos that appear commented in LrC but have no like/comment in Lr. They have the comment badge, but 0 Comments/0 Likes in the Comments panel. I wish I didn't have to deal with this and could just do my job.

LrC 13.3.1 indeed brings back the yellow comment icon when a photo got a like. But: - When hovering over the Likes counter in the Comments panel, you can't see when the like was made. This was possible before version 13.3. - When removing a like, the comment badge does not disappear, even though the Comments panel correctly shows "0 Likes".

Resetting the preferences didn't help for me. Thumbnails aren't updated when I make adjustments using Quick Develop. Not with embedded previews and not with 1:1 previews.

@John_R_Ellis I was able to clear the unwanted Favorite folders. I did it by randomly selecting multiple Favorite folders, unmarking, marking again, making a different selection.
This way I eventually was able to clear all folders.

For me this worked for a couple of folders.
Some other folders are still marked as favorite, but do not list in the Filmstrip dropdown.
