Hi, thank you for your quick response @CShubert. Yes, it worked – apparently, my Photoshop installation was "stuck" because even the splash screen was still the old one, and after resetting the preferences, it updated it and the pins in the Field Blur effect are visible again! To add to the pile, this has happened to me in every version of Photoshop I've used in the past two years on 2-3 different Windows 10 installs across a few machines. I'm not even sure what version to download anymore. Last stable release did it and the last two beta updates did it. Seems like if I change update the problem goes away, but it always starts again almost spontaneously and when it starts, no amount of closing, restarting, or transform settings changes allows it to work again.
