Hello all - So I was able to get everything up and running. Because I could do a rollback my entire server very easily, I wanted to try the CFPM option one more time. I stopped every service. I stopped anything in the processes tab of my Task Manager that could have been CF related. I even stopped IIS. And when I ran CFPM, it still gave me the errors related to 5 files being locked ( as mentioned in a previous post). I ultimately followed the instructions found at: https://coldfusion.adobe.com/2024/09/a-simple-way-to-install-coldfusion-updates-manually-in-offline-mode/ And that is what worked for me. HI Charlie - How many services are there for CF? On my machine I have 4 services related to CF. I have: API Analystics Service API Datastore Service API Manager Application Server All of them were stopped. What else could have been holding onto those 5 files that I mentioned in a previous post? HI Charlie - My bad on the understanding of the user selection in the SSE. The last column in the Service tab is blank, and I think it's running under the System option. When I examined the details for the service using the SSE tool, it looks like it's under a group policy for System. I did try using cfpm using the CLI doing a run as Admin. I stopped all the CF related services. I moved the past Update 12 hotfix directory to a backup directory. I ran Update all on the cfpm. I was told of all the updates that would be performed. I hit Y to accept the upgrade. The system showed the download process, I saw some dots to show progress, and then I get an error and to examine the log files. So I got the same msg for the 5 fatal errors - : Moving files failed:: Failed to back up the previous hotfix files. Retry installation after ensuring that the server is not running or files are not locked by the server. Hi BKBK - As Charlie said, I tried that a few times. I can see that the packages were downloaded, but then the server does nothing else. I can't tell if it's upgrading the server, I can't tell if it's restarting. I can't tell the status of what the server is doing. I would watch the Services and kept an eye on the CF Service to see if it stops and restarts. After 10 minutes, I restarted the service and the server was still on Upgrade 6. So the GUI didn't work. Hi Charlie - I used the SSE tool that you suggested... and there was no joy in Mudville tonight. (If you know the reference). You're right, it was easy to use, I added myself to the service, but unfortunately nothing happened. I restarted the service several times, and I tried the Install option on the CF Admin GUI. But it still produced the same result of not updating the Core. I will go through your options again, and see what I can do. Thanks Doug

Hi Charlie - Thank you for all that you do for the CF Community and all the presentations that you do. You always provide a ton of information... and you actually do it at a decent pace, and tone that is good to hear as opposed to some speakers that are dry. I'm listening to 306 at the moment. Anyway, you're probably right, I am probably overthinking things. But, since it's a prod server, I always like to make sure I understand everything first since I ran into issues. When I initially tried to do the update to 12, I did it through the CF Admin tool. If the little bar that says "Downloading" is supposed to be a graphical bar showing percentage... it doesn't do anything. There were no other messages. I haven't tried the tool you recommended yet. But I will download it and give it a try. If that's what is needed, I will do it. I will be doing it around midnight your time. So, I will endeavor to leave a comment tomorrow about how things went. Hi BKBK - Yes.. I noticed that the server didn't update to the latest version. The Download process worked, but the update process didn't stop /restart the server. So I will be trying again.

Charlie - Another question: I was comparing the CF \bundles\repo directory vs CF \cfusion\hf-updates\hf-cf2023-012-330713 directory and I noticed in the hotfix directory there are a number of updates for the different packages, that's not in the repo directory. Do I need to move one dir to another? Or does the CFPM handle all that? Thanks Doug

HI Charlie - When you say that ther CFPM installs a full core update. So it's updating the core and loading the latest update found in the cf \bundles\updateinstallers? I'll watch your video and see how it works. But that caught my attention and wanted to just ask. Thanks Doug

Hello - I tried to update my CF2023 on Windows using the CF Admin tool's Package Manager. I clicked on Download and Install, it looks like it downloaded the latest version to the server, according to the updates log, it downloaded Update 12, but the process didn't stop and restart the server. I did that manually, and my account has persmission to access the services, so that shouldn't be an issue. I didn't notice the update to 12 being applied. I am bringing the Server from 6 to 12. I'm just trying to get the updates and the other packages up to spec. I've looked at different update guides... and there is a part of me that get's a little confused as to what files I need to modify and where to point things. As I mentioned that the admin downloaded the file and put it in one directory, but when I follow the updates instructions, and download the zip file, the instructions want me to point to that unzipped directory.. I think. I'm sorry, but trying to make sure I modify the right file and point to the right spot always has me concerned when I am making changes to my prod server. Any idea or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Doug

I would like to see the option to add to an image the file name as part of the watermark options. I use Behance to post photos, and I would like to show the file name so if someone is interested in a photo, they can tell me the file name and I can work on it, or have it printed for them. LR keeps adding all these nice features, but I would like to see this one added, and it wouldn't be that hard to do. What are your thoughts?

I don't put in scheduled tasks all the time, but as of October, everything was good. As for what updates or changes have been made since October... not sure, except for almost regular updates, and maybe a couple of new packages installed. 3) When it comes to adding new tasks, I can't add any new one. Everything I try has that value hard coded. It's always Priority u equals 4. I've tried different options and values to test out creating new tasks, and every process fails. There are a number of existing tasks, and I've checked all. They all have a valid priority value. 4) We went from CF 10 to CF23 (Yes, a big jump). We didn't import the scheduled tasks from the old server. I created them from scratch, just to play with the different parts of the new server admin software. And at that time, I had no issues. 5) As to how many are experiencing this problem... That would be like Schrodinger's Cat. You don't know you have a problem until you have to look at it. Greetings one and all - I recently tried to create a new scheduled task, and I made enough of them over the years that it should be an issue. I go through the process, and the get this message: An error occurred scheduling the task. For input string: "u=4" I have no idea where or what this message is referring to. I look under the Additional Settings, and under Priority in the input field it shows: u=4. I know I didn't enter it. When I change it, it resets it back to 'u=4,' and I get the error message again. No matter what value I choose, (blank or a number), I get the error message, and the value is back to u=4. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

Ok... I did some additional testing... I changed the fieldname from journal_date to journal_date1, and that was included in the form.fieldnames. Does anyone know if journal_date is reserved? Thanks Doug

Hello - Has anyone ever seen CFDUMP - form, not display all the fieldnames with data in it? I have a number of formfields, but not A LOT of them and one of the names is missing. Anyway, I have attached a CFDUMP of the form fields... The field in question should be the last one in the list, it should be journal_date. It doesn't exist in the list of fieldnames, but the value does exist. Anybody have an idea of what's happening? Thanks Doug

Hello - I am curious, with the current versions of LR Classic (2024/13.2), I am curious is there a way to create a batch function that process each photo individually based upon the batch functions. For example, After I do some basic processing to my photos, I would like a process that would: 1) Capture a process that I would hold SHIFT and hit double click on the Blacks slider. 2) Capture a process that I would hold SHIFT and hit double click on the White slider. 3) Click on Auto option in the Upright tab 4) Click on the Blur Option and click on Apply. I tried doing the Upright tab as a Sync, and that doesn't work properly. I would like to be able to process each image individually with it's own Upright setting not have the same 1 applied to all the images. Any and all ideas, suggestions, and comments are appreciated. To the CF team - Please add an enhancement that allows us to select a datetime format for those date/time fields in our queries / structs. There are times when I want to maintain the data exactly from my database so that it shows the same way in my SerializeJSON output. Give me an option to select which dateformat to send to the client. Hello - I've got 2 issues going on: I have a document that needs to be signed by 2 people. I go through the steps. I select Request E-sigs. I type in my 2 emails. I click Specify where to sign. I click on the first person's e-mail and select the area to sign. I click on the second person's email and select the area to sign. I click on Send. I think click Close. I tried several times before the document was registered as an agreement and not just a PDF. Once I finally got it sent out, the listing of documents show that 0 of 2 people signed the document. But when you look at the Activity, it actually shows that at least 1 of 2 people signed it, at the time of my test. And I have a screenshot to prove it, if requested. Any and all help is appreciated. I'm having issues with the Neural Filter also. It's not detecting everybody in the shot. If I crop in a bit tighter, it works, but when done like the example shot, it doesn't find everyone. And I had another pic where the lady on the left was not found. Any ideas? Or are there still some bugs and kinks to work out?

Hi Aaron - Ok, it sounds like you and I have the same issues across the board. Here's what I learned and my workarounds: 1) Even though we're supposed to be able to add text to a new layer automatically from all the videos and tutorials what I've seen, it's not the case. The workaround for this is to go to the Effects Panel and drag and drop a title graphic/text area onto the sequence. From that you can modify the text however you need. There are some basic title sequences which makes it easy to modify for your needs. 2) I have the same issue when it comes to importing graphics or creating color mattes. Anything other than movie files, the import process just sucks. What you need to do when you import your assets, is just bring them into PP, which will probably show up as a black images, and then save your file, close your project, go out to the main menu, and reopen the project. When you do that, everything will get displayed correctly. 3) There may be a setting for image time lengths, I don't know off hand, but one thing I noticed when dropping images onto a sequence, their time duration is 12 hours. Right click onto the image, and look for Speed / Duration. Change the duration down to 5 seconds or the time you need. This will only change the duration down to 7 minutes. Why? I don't know. Do the change again, and the next time will take you down to 5 seconds or the duration you are looking for. I've dealt with that issue for years... why it's still happening, and it takes two changes to get it right, I don't have a clue. Anyway, I hope this helps! Take care and good luck.

Hello - I'm working on an indesign file that I have been using for years. I go into it make the appropriate changes, and everything is good. I would cut and paste from PDF files or Word files, with no issues. save it, and export it when I am done. Recently (within the past 2 months), when I would paste new text into a new text box, the box would take the text initially, I could make changes to it, and then after a slight pause or if I change tools, the look of it would revert back to the original pasting of the text. Just to provide an example: I could paste this: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Phasellus varius libero at sapien pretium, ac volutpat tortor tempus. Morbi facilisis dui ut dolor efficitur vestibulum. Duis fringilla, nisi vitae pretium tristique, enim justo eleifend nulla, ut sodales risus urna at metus. Etiam sed mattis purus. Suspendisse iaculis, ante sit amet venenatis sagittis, tellus leo ornare urna, vulputate tincidunt nisl lorem ut ex. Sed interdum, lorem sit amet ornare varius, nisi mi finibus ante, eu egestas massa libero vitae dui. Aliquam elementum lorem enim, et sagittis urna venenatis sed. Duis fermentum efficitur lacus, eget pharetra justo tristique ut. Suspendisse ex leo, pulvinar ut tortor sed, porttitor convallis ligula. I've been dealing with the same issue for a while.. I'm glad I'm still not the only person having problems with the latest version of InDesign in the same way. Complete crash.. no windows log file. Frustrating as anything, especially since we're paying to use the latest and the greatest programs.

Hello - Quick Description of problem: I'm having an issue with a cross dissolve exposing my masked area that was used in my green screen and ultra-key. Details: I have on one layer my subject, who was recorded on a green screen. I used the pen tool under Opacity to create a tighter mask around my subject. I then used Ultra Key to get rid of the green screen and apply a background layer of a red drape. The timing of the project is that I have a movie of a curtain that comes down first (on layer v2), and then about 10 seconds in, on layer v3, I have a cross dissolve that starts off that layer which leads into the exposure of my subject, which was green screened. During the cross dissolve, the masked area is exposed and then my subject comes into the frame normally. It's that masked area that's the issue. I have created a new project, and imported the assets into that with no effect. I have played with the Ultra Key masking tools... with no effect. I am including a link, which I hope works properly... it's a very short clip, so watch carefully. but you will see the problem at the 4.5 - 5 second mark. Does anyone know if the Developers edition can be installed in an Azure environment? And the same thing for the 30 Day free trial. Can that be installed in an Azure environment? I know the new version is suposed to be capable of it, but can the "freebies" also be set up in a cloud environment to do some proper testing and understanding of the new features before I recommend my company to buying it. @jstrawn - Thank you for reaching out. This is a very unique situation and I wish I could provide more infomation. So let me add in more details. I will admit it's got to be something on my system, what it is, I don't know. I just went through uninstalling PP 14.6 and rolled back to 14.0. I tested it with that version. Same issue. I rolled back to 13.15.1 (I think that was the other versiom number) and same thing happened. The text layer would not cooperate. I opened up the test project, I went the text layer, and I was able to enter in text without any issues. I moved the playhead to a blank area, and clicked on T to initiate the Type tool, click on the playback area, to start typing, and if I try to type "Hello World", The H is pressed and triggers the Hand tool. One thing I did notice with the earlier versions (14.0 and before), after exiting the project, they would stay in the Task manager and not close. I moved the PP window to both monitors to test location and to look for any other windows taking the focus. No other window is there. 1) The text layer was provided for me from another community member who may be in another part of the world. I am located in California, USA. 2) When I am editing the project, No matter what I do, or what layer is active, when I click on T, and then try to type anything, nothing happens. If you want to know the different drivers I have running or you want to know more, please let me know, and I will help you. If you want to have a Zoom call, and I could show you what happens, I would be happy to do that.. I have figured a work around, I have to use one of the Essential Graphics title bars to give me a text layer of some sort, and then make adjustments to it. Thanks Doug

Hi @DaciaSaenz - Thanks for offering more ideas. 1) I don't know if it only happens in 14.6. I don't use PP all the time, but I do update it when I am told to by CC. 2) I will reinstall PP and see if I can use an earlier version and see if I can figure out where the change took place. 3) I've done multiple restarts, and did it as thr first task of the day on my computer, and still had the same issue. 4) I've checked and I don't see any other panels popping up - whether on a different monitor, or behind the program. (Nothing wrong with stretching, I always appreciate any attempt). I will change versions and let you know what happens. Thanks Doug
