Monochrome raw files behave the same way as color raw files.
You can only render them into RGB (or CMYK) files, grayscale is not an option.
If you really want a grayscale file in Photoshop, use Adobe RGB, then convert to Gray Gamma 2.2 in Photoshop.
Note that support for grayscale profiles outside of Photoshop in pretty much non-existent.
Any image that leaves your computer should be in RGB, or CMYK if that's a requirement.

This workaround, if I did it right, didn't seem to work for me on Windows. Putting the .jsx into the Bridge Extensions folder lead to a "can't load script because it's not compatible" dialog. What really sucks is that I JUST installed the new Photoshop 2025 and Bridge 2025 (v15), and I still can't get Image Processor Pro to work from within Bridge. I did choose to "transfer settings" when I installed each of those apps. This is just dumb. It shouldn't be this hard to get it to work...and I can't for the life of me understand why Adobe won't actually build IPP into Photoshop by default. It's so much better than the old, simple IP.

The paths should be the same as described in the instructions for both the ImageProcessorPro-3_2b5 and Dr Brown's Services 2.3.1 sans the version of Photoshop/Bridge
The only scripts that go into any other folder other than Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2024/Presets/Scripts are the the
photoshop_ximage_processor_pro.jsx that goes in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe Photoshop and Dr Brown Services.jsx that goes in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe Bridge 2024.
The other items
Image Processor Pro.jsx
Image Processor Pro.xml
icons folder
Image Processor Pro folder
go into
Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2024/Presets/Scripts

Just a TLDR... 1. don't EVER install Beta software from ANY company on a production machine. EVER! 2. Shame on Adobe for even suggesting that their Beta's are just a "fun little pre-release playground". They are NOT! People are lucky they didn't have to completely reinstall Windows, which happens very often. Treat Beta's like Malware, and let other people be the "experiment testers".

I've also had a similar situation with a '528 incompliant error message', trying different ways and approaches to export my newly created Lut was all a failure, so I decided to click on my /workspace panel/; selected /photography/; and then clicked on /Reset Photography/ and finally I was able to export my newly created Lut. Hope you find this procedure useful sir. Perhaps you can help explain the error I am encountering when trying to create a cololour lookup table. I have an image open with adjustment layers and I have tried in both rgb & lab mode. Exporting it as a lookup table (tried 3DL &n Cube) to - applications>Ps2020>presets>3dluts as the destination. I get this error message -"unable to run the Export Color Lookup plugin because error: General PS error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this version of Ps." Following these instr. https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/photoshop/using/export-color-lookup-tables.html Any ideas ? Thanks, Frank By @frankg_photos workspace panel

I looked for a raw file that doesn't turn neutral (equal RGB) when selecting Monochrome profile. I say 'looked for' because as I've said, it isn't Always the case. Anyway I found a recent one and to answer your suggestions - On this file 1. The histogram shows the 3 col channels 2. Mask tab? (not sure where to look for 'tab'. Mask tool doesn't show anything unusual.) 3. Display Calibration - yes, I use a hardware device 4. Grading - Shadows, Midtones & Highlights individually and all together. I dont see any Col settings or saturation 5. Curves - I dont adjust the separate individual RGB curves I feel somewhat bewildered by this situation and I'm probably overlooking something obvious to others. One setting I am not familiar with or clear about is the Calibration tab. Not sure what it is. It is set to Version 5 with a Shadows Tint slider and RGB sliders. I assume this is automatically set either when importing the Raw file or when the Monochrome profile is selected ? Is this better than selecting Version 4, 3, 2 or 1 - and how should the sliders be set?

Thank you very much for finding this fault ! You are a digital detective 🙂 How or why this 'pyramid' box became checked is a mystery because Ive never had this problem before and I've done a lot of this over the past few years. The only thing different now with these 'tests' is that I am using Save As (with a different filename which I don't usually do). The 'pyramid box' only shows in the Save As dialog box. My usual workflow is - I always start with a Raw file in ACR (camera raw) and when I have it processed the way I want it I save it as a 16 bit Tif file and then do final corrections or retouching in Photoshop and save it (still as 16 bit). When I need to upload or send it to a client or a lab I either Duplicate the file or Copy it to a new folder then change the image mode to 8bit and save it again, so I have not dealt with this Save As with the pyramid options before. This halves the file size e.g 100mb in 16bit becomes 50mb in 8bit. I have looked under preferences & googled but haven't found a way to have the 'save pyramid' box unchecked/ disabled yet so that it doesnt happen again, by default. Thanks again for finding the solution to the problem. I appreciate it.

Ignore msg - it's working. Cant delete msg ? I updated to ACR 13.02.644 / Photoshop 2022 and cant get the 'Box Zoom' to work. From my search it should just be a matter of hold the CMD key and drag over a small area to magnify it and for that 'boxed' segment to enlarge.

I noticed a 16 bit Tif being unusually large in MB size and checked the Layers & Channnels but didnt see anything in them (except of course the one layer and 3 channels). I nevertheless Flattened the layers and voila the file shrunk to the expected size. Why would the layers (whatever they were?) have been hidden and how do I prevent that that. Thanks
