"Nikon Z cameras write camera setting to XMP, which LrC understands and honors." This only happens if you've set Preferences > Presets > Raw Defaults to Camera Settings. If it's set to Adobe Default, then the develop settings embedded by the camera in the NEF will be ignored.

Adobe - please provide the ability to auto-align smart objects! I currently use a 3rd party product from Helicon for focus stacking, and it returns a DNG as part of my raw editing workflow. It aligns the raw objects as long as they are close enough to fall within configurable alignment parameters. I prefer to keep this within my Adobe-based workflow.

I had a similar issue just now in MacOS Sonoma 14.1. I had the beta Photoshop installed along with the production release v24. Opening from LrC (latest) opened just fine in the beta Photoshop. I uninstalled the beta because I didn't need it anymore (I only had it installed to try the then-new AI generative fill stuff), then when I tried open-in from LrC, it opened Photoshop 24, but didn't open the file. I uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop, and now the edit-in opens the file correctly.

531.41 WHQL
Release Date: 2023.3.21
Fixed Bugs:
Adobe application stability issues using 531.18 [4008751] ...
Would be worth updating driver from 472.84.
If that does not work then copyying Prefs out of Setttings and seeing if new default Prefs solve any start up issues.

I had the exact same problem after the updates on 10/26. When I tried to take an image from LR into PS in the usual ways, Photoshop 2022 was greyed out. Spent an hour or so on the phone with Adobe tech support, and here is the short version of what they finally figured out and did. They "uninstalled" the newly installed Camera Raw v. 14.0. As soon as they did this taking photos into PS from LR worked as it always has. Now as to why I placed the word uninstalled in quotes. After they did this, the Camera Raw app did not show up in my list of CC apps as it always has, right there with LR and PS, so it appeared that they did indeed uninstall it. But, and here's the wierd part, once in PS I was able to open Camera Raw from the drop down list of Filters and it was totally functional. So, is it really uninstalled? Who knows. But, I got a follow up message from Adobe support and they want me to call back in so they can "reinstall" CR? Crazy, yes. Does the LR to PS and return work as it had before the upgrade, a definite yes.
