It's an annoying bug, without question. I have been a designer longer than some of you have been alive, that being said, the downgrade to 2024 is a great solution. I work on a Mac and find that if I leave a project open for prolonged periods of time, it triggers this bug. I save often and will restart photoshop when it shows up. No, as I have stated all along "Standardization" of terms between the apps. As an example what almost everyone who has ever used a computer in the past 30+ years has encountered an Adobe Acrobat file. In the early years of the Acrobat file the user became very familiar with the icon and what to expect when opening the file. However, in the past few years others developed apps to create PDF files. I found one thing that was causing the slowdown. Apparently in a recent update Adobe in their ever growing desire to control what we do and upsell us on AI has added an option at the top of the page to turn GAI on or off while using the remove tool (that feature may have been there before but I don't think so) and have by default turned it on. Hey y'all.  It has been very hard to repro this internally here at Adobe. There are so many variables. We did implement a lot of mouseUp/Stylus tracking fixes over the past number of releases so it sounds like there's been some success.  Just recently we had a customer provide us with an excellent video with exact steps required to repro a related cursor flicker issue and we were able to fix it, which will be in the next release. I can't predict the exact version where the problem started (because I don't use Remove tool very well) But 25.12 and 26.1 are. Maybe you can refer to the bug reports from other users who posted that the use of the remove tool will lead to a surge in cpu usage. I think the first stroke always has a CPU. ... View more

If stable is selected, GPU is disabled. With some versions of Photoshop + compatibility issues with Nvidia drivers, it's an inevitable choice. Not a fix. The reason for the feature called stable or fast was that there was a huge crash for more than a few months, not days or weeks, and Photoshop eventually included the option of not using GPUs. The issue continued until Nvidia released a new driver at the time, and Photoshop released a new Photoshop that matched it. But the problem is that this is not the end. The current Remove tool is unstable too. So the Adobe community says try the stable option, but it's not a fundamental solution. The part Adobe needs to fix. ... View more

In ten years of heavy PS usage, I have never had a single crash until this version.  In addition to what I noted on my initial thread here, PS regularly locks up now when I am in LR and choose to edit the image in PS.  PS opens but the image does not transfer over.  Sometimes, if I wait for 3 or 4 minutes, it finally transfers.  Not impressed with this update!!! ... I'm finding Photoshop Elements 25 unusable for multilayered collages. 1. I can't automatically link different layered Graphics. 2. Right Clicking on Text Box: Edit Layer Style is now missing. The quick and easy solution is to get in the habit of dragging an adjustment layer to the trash icon, instead of using the Delete key.   In principle I agree with the basic premise of this thread - not because one way is better than another, but because the current behavior is inconsistent. I am using a PC with an i9 processor, 1TB SSD, 1TBHDD, and 32GB ram, with Intel Model UHD Graphics 770 and Device ID 8086-A780a NVIDIA Model GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, updated to the latest driver. The remove tool was fantastic until this latest PS update. It is now so slow that it is unusable. Even the smallest spot takes up to 10 seconds to remove. One cannot even spot a bunch of specks and wait for the computer to catch up; I just get a sound and any attempted spot removal isn't registered. I turn off the Generative AI, and I I have tried switching between "Stable" and "Faster", and nothing helps. Please keep the Generative AI feature on a separate tool. ... View more

The most reliable solution for me is just turning off G-sync straight up, but I do play games on the same computer I use Photoshop on, so always going to the control panel every time I play and use Photoshop to switch G-sync gets annoying.   Fortunately, someone made a program to switch G-sync on and off more convenient: GsyncSwitch by kwizatz88 on GitHub. Yes, layers were an interesting aspect of Photoshop, and it’s no longer unique to Photoshop alone. Destructive editing and non-destructive editing are, in fact, just wordplay. The misconception people have is that applying something directly to the image or retouching on an empty layer using 'all samples' is considered non-destructive editing. That isn’t necessarily better. Non-destructive editing, as the term suggests, allows you to revert to previous results and provides convenience when changes are needed to meet client requirements. Therefore, retouching directly on the image itself is essentially the same. The only drawback is that it doesn’t allow you to immediately revert to a specific point when responding to client feedback. And focusing on AI functionality isn’t a bad choice. The market is already evolving, and staying ahead is a better strategy than falling behind. However, for example, over the past few months, numerous bug reports have been filed regarding issues and crashes with the remove tool, yet we rarely see such crashes with similar removal features on smartphones. Of course, some may argue that the quality of Photoshop’s remove tool is incomparable to that of smartphones. But what do average consumers think? A Photoshop tool that fails to function or crashes frequently versus a tool that works instantly with a simple touch on a smartphone. At the resolution that typical consumers use, the difference between the two tools is not significant. This is what I wanted to point out. While it’s impossible to eliminate all bugs perfectly, releasing stable, fixed versions each year, like in 2023 or 2024 (versions that work with minimal issues, similar to Photoshop from 2016 to 2019), and following up with additional public beta releases would be fine. It would also help if a warning appeared when updating in Creative Cloud (e.g., “This version is experimental and may have various issues”). Many other programs follow this practice.
