It's comforting that this topic is 4 years old and people are still having issues. And it's not just a Dropbox thing. This also happens with OneDrive. I'm not sure if I should blame Adobe or Apple... I'm leaning towards Apple because my old Mac with all the same settings (except for an older OS) never had this error.

Granting full disk access in system settings to both Creative Cloud and Photoshop is what fixed it for me. This should be marked as the actual answer. Removing OneDrive is not a viable solution for many users on company machines.

The problem is the Mac. That honestly does not surprise me. Thanks for your insight!

There used to be a toggle in the top right of the application to show/hide render preview. I saw this evolved quite a bit in the 4.0 update. It seems like a completely different function, actually. I used to be able to use Dimension just fine with the render preview off. But since 4.0 and beyond, Dimension is unusable because it's continuously trying to render and this dumb old Mac can't handle it. It literally takes MINUTES for one click to register and open a dropdown. There's no way I can manipulate any objects or camera views with that kind of performance. It actually makes my whole computer unusable--minutes to switch apps, minutes to simply quit dimension. If there is a toggle that will release me from the unending render hell, do share. The five minutes it took me to click "draft" under the presets didn't help. Even if there is a toggle, I don't think I can get through opening the program to use it. At this point I have to roll back to 3.4.11 and rebuild the file I lost to the 4.0 upgrade today. *cue Taps* Computer specs, cuz I'm sure someone's gonna ask. Wow, the guy in the tut even says once you close the file you can't edit the gradients anymore. I don't think people are throwing this into the "too hard" basket; it's definitely the "too limited/clunky" basket for our more nuanced effects and workflows. I appreciate the demo videos you shared, but those are very specific use cases (and frankly quite basic.) Adobe "fixed" something that wasn't broken.

This would be great. It's such a headache when libraries bug out and I have to quit the whole program to get them to function correctly.
