So today I just installed version 25.5. and the same thing started...again. It was gone until now (I've updated regularly). So I reverted back to 25.4. and it's ok.

I just downloaded the version 25.0.0. and the same thing started. The way I've been able to get rid of this problem is to Reset the preferences on exit.

I had to revert back to 24.4.1. because it was unworkable. No problems in the earlier version.

Thanks, but no. I never had that turned on. I turned it on and the same (and even in worse frequency) occurs.

I updated to Photoshop 24.5.0. and immediately noticed considerable lag when using ALT(for eyedropper) and the Hand-tool. Intermittenly the tool gets stuck for a second or so after I release. Sometimes it gets stuck altogether and I have to press the key again to make it release. My setup: -I run Win 10 Pro and two monitors plus Wacom Cintiq 27QHD. -I have Asus PRIME Z690-P D4, ATX motherboard with Intel Core i7-12700K as the chip which has a built in GPU (UHD 770). My Wacom is attached to the motherboard (w. Display Port), as is my big BenQ (HDMI) and then the smaller Acer onto the GeForce (HDMI). My other GPU is NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030. -I have Photoshop 2023 and 2021 installed, using 2023 exclusively (I have to have PS 2021 installed, because the Wacom settings for PS don't seem to work when set for PS 2023). I also use Tourbox Neo, but the same lag occurs when I use the keyboard--as I said, this happened right after I upgraded to 24.5.0

That's great! I've tried 24.5 now for a couple of hours and it does seem that the problem has been solved. Yay! (The update has introduced a major lag on using alt/eyedropper nad hand tool, but I'll post that elsewhere.) Any chance of letting us in on what was at the root of this problem?

Yes, great news indeed! Seems like one's input does have some effect sometimes. Maybe even for the greater good? Any idea what might be the root of this issue and how long it might take before it is resolved and rolled out in a new version?

Hello, I have the same problem, and I thought I'd chime in on with my experiences and findings. The problem is this: When using Photoshop in the Full Screen mode WITH the Panels showing (so pressing F once), there is flickering. Now, I don't use the black-backgrounded full screen mode (pressing F twice) often, but it appears that the flickering does not happen then. It also does not happen in the floating panels normal view. The flickering is the same type as shown in this post in the video, but is intemittent. It does not appear to have any discernible pattern or cause, however, I mainly use brush and eyedropper tool (but the flickering can occur when they are not used). The flickering usually starts after a few minutes of painting, and then comes and goes every few minutes, coming in sort of waves, meaning that once they start, they occur a few times at random intervals and then there is a break. My setup: -I run Win 10 Pro and two monitors plus Wacom Cintiq 27QHD. I use photoshop on the Cintiq where this flickering occurs (when it does, it does not flicker on the other monitors). So I will list next the solutions I have tried, and which have NOT made a difference: -I have updated Windows and the drivers for Intel, Nvidia, Wacom, and plus Photoshop 2023 is the latest (as of Mar 20th 2023). No updates have ever remedied this issue. -I've checked in the PS settings Preferences: 'Deactive Native Canvas', 'Older GPU Mode', either and both together (and even checked off 'multithreaded compositing'), and I'm sure there've been bunch of others, none which have made a difference. And no, I don't have guides on. -I cannot see a correlation w. the size of the file or its amount of layers. -I have used both GPUs for the 'Graphics Processor Setting' in PS and ticked off and on 'Graphics Processor Settings' altogether. Same problem occurs. -In Windows, I've used both of the GPUs AND changed the Graphics Settings/Performance preference to either of the GPU's and on top of that even deleted the Photoshops from the list. I've checked and unchecked the 'Hardware-accelarated GPU Scheduling' -I have even disabled from Device Manager the GeForce GPU altogether and used the two monitors - same problem. Then I ticked off the 'Graphics Processor Setting' in PS - same problem. -I don't have GSync so I have not been able to check that off. -But I have changed a bunch of setting in the NVIDIA 3D-settings panel, off and on, with none of them having any effect (seemingly). I have photoshop.exe and sniffer.exe marked to use the GeForce, but I've changed these settings as well to try out. So, what's my findings/hunch on this? I'll list here a few links to other cases that seem to have the same issue. This is over the years, so it does not appear to be a new occurence and seems to affect Photoshop and Lightroom especially: https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Brightness-Flickering-in-Photoshop-with-dual-Graphics-cards/td-p/597936 https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/272313/photoshop-brightness-flickering/ https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/667705/flickering-problem-in-photoshop-workspace-please-help-nitro-5-nitro-an517-52 This problem seems to only occur in PS in Full Screen mode (and I guess only when the panels are showing). The commonality between these appears to be to have a dual GPU (or at least multiple monitors). Many do say that they only experience this when the 'Graphics Processor Setting' in PS is turned on (for me it occurs even then). I suspect this issue might be much more common, because its occurency is so specific. Perhaps it is indicative of something more profound... I'm running out of ideas. I've thought about buying a Graphics card that could hold all the 3 monitors and would disable the internal Intel GPU, but I'm not convinced that'd fix this issue, since when I deactivated the GeForce and then I only had one GPU (the Intel)...and the problem still occured. The only thing left for me to try out is to pull out the HDMI from the innards of the Cintiq and attach that to the GeForce to see if it would make any difference. Unless someone comes up w. another idea... Help.

These are all helpful suggestions for workarounds, thanks. I will check into the scripts. However, I still think it would be useful and totally logical that this keyboard shortcut could be altered through the 'keyboard shortcuts' -menu. Having to change keyboard input methods and install scripts or macros is far from optimal. Why the shortcut cannot be altered like other commands, who knows? I have seen on the internet other people having the same issue, so here's hoping it'll be added soon.

As far as I can tell (searched the internet far and wide), Photoshop is completely missing a menu item in the 'keyboard shortcuts' -menu to change the shortcut for "activate a mask". So, normally, to activate a mask on the currently selected layer, you press Ctrl \ (Mac: Command \). This is the same as clicking on the layer mask thumbnail. HOWEVER, there seems to be no way to change this shortcut in 'keyboard shortcuts' -menu (the item is missing). Why would you want to, since there's already a shortcut set??? Well, if like me, you're using a foreign keyboard, then the backlash won't function here. So the only way I could use the original shortcut would be to change my keyboard layout completely to a US keyboard. Please Adobe, add a menu item where this shortcut (Ctrl \) can be altered.

Didn't work for me, even tapped off the 'Use the pen button as right click equivalent.' Boot didn't work. What DID WORK was resetting preferences of exit. This eyedropper lag problem keeps coming back to me now and then. Can't be resetting my preferences all the time. I just ported from a smooth running CS5 and the CC2022 is rife with problems like this. This issue shoud be fixed like people are praying here.

This unfortunately didn't help for me. I even turned off 'Use pen as right-click equivalent' - still the same lag. It gets worse when sampling ring is turned on. Come on Adobe, I just ported from a smooth running CS5 and CC2022 is like this? People are praying for a fix on this. Please give us digital painters one.
