I ran into this issue as well, it is still a bug. I cleared the cache, which did nothing. And after doing things like reseting my workspace, restarting the software, and rebooting my computer, I eventually discovered that the cause was the Essential Graphics window. When I clicked away from it and went to the Effects window, this issue stopped, and did not come back when I pulled the Essential Graphics window back up. I just..... I can't. It feels like half of my job as a video editor these days is just fighting the Adobe software and troubleshooting problems with it.

My problem was that nothing happened when I clicked on anything in my workspace, only when I clicked on any option bar up there would it execute the command I had given before. I was getting stressed out about this. Resetting my workspace was the only option that worked for me, thank you very much!

That wasn't what anyone said - it was just mentioned in passing as a possible cause (hacker-modified code). Which isn't entirely unreasonable, given the extremely high volume of pirated copies being offered on the internet, to unsuspecting buyers.
But the general consensus is that this is most likely the GPU driver. If not that, then possibly an overheating/malfunctioning hardware component.
The bottom line is in any case that a modern application cannot cause a BSOD. That's prevented by sandboxes and insulating layers. What the application can do, is trigger a BSOD by making specific calls that expose latent problems.

Just had this happen after an hour long export. The selected section of the timeline had no text. 2024 version of Premiere running on Windows. It would be nice if they figured this out.

This will be the sole reason, that I will cancel my subscription when the time is up. Been looking for a fix for this for a long time now. It did not do this in earlier versions. I am using a Corsair mouse using the ICUE software, if anyone has any suggestions besides "Well just use a new mouse" then I am all ears.

And for those that were like me and had to literally SEARCH WHERE GLOBAL FX WAS, since no one mentioned it in this thread. It is in your editor, chances are if crop is not working, make sure Global FX is off.

This should not even be the case. We pay for this product, why are updates screwing things up? After updates, we do not have the time to have to deal with this stuff. Leave stuff alone adobe!

Also find it atrociious that if you accidently hit a button by mistake, you spend the next 10 minutes trying to figure out what happened. The most User Unfriendly software I have used. Not to mention you have to go into several menus just to get basic stuff done that should be a simple two click procedure. Transitions, remove green screen, just to name 2 at the top of my head, should be a click to open a submenu and easy drag. Exactly like a WSIWIG type of thing like most editors have. But hey, you at least they give you tutorials. Lord help you if you click on a tutorial inside Premiere, now you are trying to find the area to get back to your workspace. /rant off. Pretty soon, my subscription for the year will run out. Will uninstall as soon as that day hits and back to other editors.

Thanks, I was thinking this might be the case. Sure they will figure out a way to do this very soon. Everything I have seen so far with AI Image Creator, I can picture this technology out in the very near future. Thanks for the response. Back to regular editing techniques I go.

I am having the same issue, i have very similar specs for my computer, less graphics though. Unfortuneatly for me, my only resolve it to purchase final cut and convert my projects over to meet my deadlines. If final cut goes as smooth as people say, i might just stay with it and cancelt my adobe membership. I will report back!
