I finally switched to the fantastic Affinity suite (link removed) and I'm not looking back. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the new interface (which is very similar to Phosohop anyway), but I've finally found a software that works, doesn't cost a leg (pay once, no monthly subscription), and most importantly is run by a company that listens to its customers and responds promptly to bugfix questions on their forums!
