Sorry if the title is a bit vague, but this issue is not so easy to describe in a few words. The problem I had: Wanted to compose jpg image sequences. Image import goes well. Tried to drag and drop sequence to 'new comp' icon - crash. New comp is created, but the screen goes blank as if GPU was restarting, which it probably was doing indeed. After that, the comp preview is white. I can move the cursor on the timeline, but nothing happens. Any other action brings up the Win10 'not responding' dialogue. A couple of times, the screen stays black. A couple of times, a full system restart follows this 'new comp' action. On a rare occasion, a notification from Maxon is shown - 'Graphics driver error. Please check if your graphics driver and OS are up to date.' Solution I tried #1: Updated everything - Windows, AE, AMD. They were actually up to date, so I un-and-re-installed AE. Same with Radeon drivers. No help. Solution I tried #2: Abandon ship. Started the project in my laptop that has a GTX 960M. No problems. Brought the files to desktop. Inside the edit comp, where I had multiple sub-comps with the sequences, I could scrub and play. Navigated back outside it to the root comp - crash and burn. Opened again and tried creating comps without drag and drop - just made a new one and placed a sequence in it. Worked, but then upon navigation to root comp - crash. Solution I tried #3: Roll-back on AMD, to 18.5.1. and roll-back on AE as well, to 15.1.1. Seems to have done the trick for now. Questions I have: Has anyone else experienced something like this? Any other solutions than the ones I tried? Is my GPU broken? Although I myself would say no, because accelerated graphics do work in other Adobe applications. I can edit with Premiere and Vegas. I can play games. What's up with that error message from C4D plugin? AE itself never pushed any error splashes, and no crash report dialogues. It made me even think that C4D Lite is the culprit, but regular image sequence comps shouldn't be any of its bloody business, or - ?

Really, Adobe, wow. 2018. Way to go. More good ideas like these, if you may. What next? Download porn unless the user has 'precise cursors' option checked? Ingenious. Creative cloud indeed. Rant finished. Thanks for providing the solution.
