Thanks Bojan. I did end up using guides, which helped. I still wasn't able to line things up exactly, but I worked things out. I had created a jpeg previously from a crop of the main image, but had failed to save the cropped image as a tif so that's what I was wanting to do. Whether that was necessary only time will tell. I took the dimensions off that jpeg and that may have been part of my problem too.

I have an image I want to crop to a specific dimension. In my case, I want to keep the crop aligned to the right side of the image with the top and bottom edges also aligned. Is there a way to do this in Photoshop? Note I'm not changing the height, but moving the crop rectangle to the far right. Thank you David

Thanks. That makes sense as to renaming the drive. On my last call w/Tech Support, we updated the location of each year folder as I recall. Restoring the catalog was easier though since I back up regularly. I like the suggestion of fixing the port. This Macbook Pro is an oldy so due to be replaced very soon.

I have an issue on my MacBook Pro where one of the ports is not as tight as it should be. If the computer or SSD gets moved the drive will disconnect and reconnect as the connection is loose. When it reconnects, it lists as 'Folder 1' or 'SSD Name 1'. Of course this totally messes up my LrC catalog. The only straightforward way I've found to fix this is to restore a backed up Catalog. However, I'm wondering if there is a better way. Here is a screenshot of my folder structure. I've been on calls with Adobe Tech Support and they have fixed the problem, but I'd like to understand better how to fix the problem myself. Thanks, David

Johan, that is exactly what the issue was. I have my catalog and back-ups on iCloud and the folders use the same naming format, which caused the problem. I renamed the folder with my catalog in it so should be good now. Thanks.

I back-up my catalogs regularly and have my preferences set to Open Most Recent Catalog. To free up disk space, I delete old back-ups. However, when I delete a specific back-up and the one to which show as the location of the catalog, things get messed up. This is a fairly new issue that arose about 3-4 months ago. I would think the location of the catalog would update to the most recent back-up. What am I misunderstanding or doing wrong? Thank you

Here is another issue of which everyone should be aware!! It puts a Reject Flag on photos that have been deflagged or rated. This is random, but I've come across this a handful or more of times in the last week.

Hello John, I suspected it was an issue/feature/bug with Lightroom. I have paused the sync. Is there a way to turn this off or is it better to just keep it paused? Also, I really don't want to take up all this storage so is there a way to see what photos are synched? Thanks!!

I have strange things happening and I think the cause may be LR, which I rarely use. If I manually change the capture time of an image in LRClassic, shortly after I make the change, it will revert to some random time. When reviewing and rating images in a folder, something happens where the images get all out of order. So maybe if I'm on image 50 in the folder, I hit '1' to rate this one star and then the order of the images changes such that that image is now 150 and the later images have been moved toward the top. This just started happening. I am running LrC 14.1 on a Mac, Mac OS 13.7.1.

I know it's been a while since you posted this. Just wanted to say that I should've read the whole post before I did the reimport from the hard drive. Add is the key! I back up weekly or more often so it wasn't an issue deleting the originals in Finder. THANKS for enlightening me.

LR Classic - Vers 14.1 Mac - Ver 13.7 I'm having some issues with my LR Folders (another problem I'm dealing with) so had to restore a previous Catalog that I had backed up. The problem is that when I close LRc and back up library, that restored catalog is not opened the next time I open Lightroom Classic. Thanks for the help.

Lightroom Classic 14.0.1 Mac Ventura 13.7 I added a second external SSD drive to my system. I copied the files that were on a third SSD drive to this new SSD drive and eventually got everything copacetic. It wasn't easy, but I did it. Then I copied folders of 3 years of images from my original SSD drive (call this #1) to the new SSD Drive (#2) using the operating system. Now I'm struggling with connecting those 3 years of images to SSD Drive 2 in Lightroom. If I disconnect Drive 1 and use Find Missing Folder, I get the message about Merging. I accepted it once, but it didn't choose the Parent Folder for the year just the sub-folders. I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you, David

Using LR Classic Version 13.5.1 MacOS Ventura Version 13.7 I added an additional external drive and renamed the original drive that had my images on it using Finder. I then tried to Find the Missing Folder for one of my Years containing folders of my images for that year. First Problem I have: 1. How do I add the Parent Folder for the Year and then get the subfolders into that Parent? I have all the folders for that year, with ? of course, but they are under Drive and not in their Year folder Second Problem * Once #1 is fixed, how do I point my images, with Find Missing Folder to the right external drive? I appreciate any help in cleaning up this mess. David

I did try try the Reset Tool and shut-down and restarted PhotoShop. I did click on the mask to see if that would bring back the tool to no effect. I will attach screenshots.

Thanks for this information. It seems that saving snapshots may be the work-around needed to review how changes have affected the image. Of course the undo/redo would work, but you wouldn't have that history the snapshots provide. It is good to know that Snapshots don't work if using Camera Raw as a filter. I access CR from my smart objects loaded into PhotoShop from Lightroom Classic so the snapshot functionality should work there.

My goal is to simulate light shining on the side of a building by using an elliptical marquee and a curves adjustment layer. However, when I draw out the ellipse and try to adjust its position using the Free Transform, it seems I get an overlap of the new position with the original position. It seems what I have to do is to apply the original ellipse to the curves adjustment layer and then do a Free Transform on that mask layer. Is this the only way or is there a better and different way? Thank you.
