Ah, that Dan! Yes, I was studying his suggestions earlier. I believe my approach is correct. I'll know soon enough.

Thanks Bojan. I did end up using guides, which helped. I still wasn't able to line things up exactly, but I worked things out. I had created a jpeg previously from a crop of the main image, but had failed to save the cropped image as a tif so that's what I was wanting to do. Whether that was necessary only time will tell. I took the dimensions off that jpeg and that may have been part of my problem too.

Thanks. That makes sense as to renaming the drive. On my last call w/Tech Support, we updated the location of each year folder as I recall. Restoring the catalog was easier though since I back up regularly. I like the suggestion of fixing the port. This Macbook Pro is an oldy so due to be replaced very soon.

In my case, I have my external drives containing various years of images. So as we are approaching 2025, I want to update the name of that drive to cover 2025.

Johan, that is exactly what the issue was. I have my catalog and back-ups on iCloud and the folders use the same naming format, which caused the problem. I renamed the folder with my catalog in it so should be good now. Thanks.

I know it's been a while since you posted this. Just wanted to say that I should've read the whole post before I did the reimport from the hard drive. Add is the key! I back up weekly or more often so it wasn't an issue deleting the originals in Finder. THANKS for enlightening me.

Thanks Both. I went into panic mode, which is not good. I did see the Computer Darkroom page and it is very helpful. I especially appreciated the instruction to update folder location. Have a nice day. David

Please do not post a "me too" message in a years old thread. That is pretty useless. If you have a problem, start a new thread and explain your problem properly, giving examples. Add a screenshot if that can better explain your issue.

I did not ask for screenshot snippets …
A Layer Mask is not a Gradient Layer, so it will not maintain an editable Gradient.
You may want to use Gradient Layers instead.

Good point, I just tried it and fortunately, snapshots do work in Camera Raw in Photoshop if it’s a Smart Object layer of a file. I am going to edit my earlier reply to clarify that, in case someone reads that in the future.

Hello Bob, Thanks. That's what I figured. It seems it wouldn't be that hard to change the behavior to stack only those photos selected.

And if you want to do it in a "non-destructive" (reversible) way - put the current layer with the existing mask in a Group, ctrl+G, and put a new mask on the group.
Or ditto smart object, but Group is usually simpler.

Hi Todd, I had posted a reply to @dj_paige but I don’t see it now. I did figure out that it was due to not enough tonal separation. I was able to use luminance range though successfully. Thanks for the help.

The issue seams to be. useing Comand Q to leave the Photoshop Application Just like you would for any other Mac Application But No Adobe has desided that Comand Q should put you into Qick mask edit. But I am sure that they will spin it so it looks like your fault.

Did you find out what the problem was? I had a similar problem with Adobe Bridge showing the wrong lens, instead of showing a Canon 24-105mm it showed a Canon 70-200mm, the same thing happened when using my Canon 500mm. The problem in my case was a corrupt custom metadata template, once I had deleted it the problem was solved for downloads to Bridge. I later found after creating a new metadata template that you could apply it to the the image files displaying the wrong lens information and it would correct it. Try viewing the images files metadata in Bridge, chances are it will show the correct information, when I opened my files in a different application it showed the correct information.

Akash, I am having the same problems. I have the settings to Apply to Current Layer. I am working with Smart Objects. Some of the Nik modules work and the modules I use, Dfine 2 and PreSharpener 2, often crash Photoshop. I did not have problems with versions prior to PS2020.
