I believe it because this is the worst update yet. I can't even explainwhat is wrong. Its just like everything doesn't work normally anymore. I am very close to giving up on adobe completely.. This AI sucks and you will never gaslight me into believing it is good.

My fear is we will be forced to upgrade eventually. And hten what. That is what happened with a much earlier version. Then I had to uninstall photoshop from that laptop because there was no way it was ever going to work.

@amym7372318 You’ve posted to an ancient thread. It is highly unlikely that the issue described in this thread, though not impossible, is the same one you are currently experiencing. Rather than resurrect an old thread that is seemingly similar, you are better off posting to a new thread with fresh, complete information, including system information, a complete description of the problem, and step-by-step instructions for reproduction.
If the issue is the same, we will merge you back into the appropriate location.
This thread will be locked.
Thank you!

It's entirely up to you where to keep the catalog folder, the Pictures folder is the default, because this folder exists on every computer. Other than that, LrC has no way of knowing what location you prefer.
Just move the folder anywhere you want, and double-click the catalog file to launch LrC the first time after moving.
Having the Pictures folder on OneDrive is probably something Microsoft does to be "helpful".

Hi! I'm having the same issue. Jpegs from clients are now opening up in preview from Bridge, not Photoshop. In the settings menu, it says to open up jpegs in Photoshop 2024 (the program I'm working in), but in stead it opens jpegs in Preview, which I'm not working in and isn't open. This is a new issue. In the last week, I've updated photoshop and reset my permissions. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

I may have found a solution that works at least when using only Photoshop. Please report any sucess with other programs in the suite! I opened 'Preferences -> File Handeling' and changed the path under 'Cloud Documents Local Working Directory' to a less invasive location than my Documents folder. Then I deleted the 'Adobe' folder from 'Documents'. Starting Photoshop does not seem to recrete the folder now.

I think I spoke too soon. I noticed when outside of adobe I would open a photo, which used to open with the windows photo viewer (which is fine when I am not working with adobe). I noticed that started opening in Photoshop. It never used to do this because I only want to open in photoshop from bridge. I changed that back to "use windows photo" as the default. Anyway, I went to the bridge prefs to check and they are still set to Photoshop.even though it is now opening everything in Lightroom again. I may try rolling back to yet an earlier version of Bridge. I mean, I know something weird like this happened before. I wish I know which versions of bridge work with which version of Photoshop I am running. I am running photoshop 22.2.0 because it is the only one that does not hang and crash my laptop. (Like I said, I have a recent installation on my desktop. I just want this for simple stuff.) I also just updated to windows 11 from windows 10. I thought it did not break anything, but maybe it broke this.

Ok final data point.. disabling of SMT was having a performance impact on other activities I need to accomplish with higher multithreading requirement. Re-enabled SMT and spent about 10 minutes opening up about various images and used the object selection tool and others. All things are stable now. Looks like the crashing was a result of the MSI gameboost function within bios being turned on.

All you have to do is to manually delete the file for Photoshop from within the 'Save'-window, then immediately click save, and it'll work. (Clicking on the file for deleting it has already given the new file the exact same name in the 'File name' field, so you've done one step manually that photoshop would've otherwise done automatically). I found out that Photoshop only lacks the rights to delete / change a file, not to write a new one. I know, it's not a solution but a pretty easy work-around, cause from what I found out, this seems to be an issue with drives formatted in exFat. Reformatting, however, is a pretty blunt and not viable option for people like me who use these drives especially to travel between PC and MAC machines, since the "ex" in exFAT stands for "exchange" and it is the only format to use for both.

I still have very eimilar (identical?) issue. I've reported is as new thread but then found this one ... Details are here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/can-t-import-photos-to-nas-folder-no-write-permissions/m-p/13766077 Folder in NAS HAS CORRECT WRITE PERMISSIONS for Windows user and IS WRITABLE as I can freely copy files there, adn can delete them from that folder though Lightroom. Yet I am unab;le to import into that folder (no write access). This is insane ...

OK. I guyess the answer is that we cannot use SSD drives. It is totally irritating and annoying but I guess I will have to work on my internal drive. What the difference is, I have no idea? I did not design this system so I am forced to rely on the answers from people who did. I guess they assume that we will upgrade our systems once a year to compensate for system requirements that were once adequate but are no longer. Just wish I knew that upgrading to Photoshop 24 would totally ruin everything. I am not making giant billboard sized posters. I just want it to work for dumb instagram posts and such. Can't there be a SUPER PRO version veruus a "good enough" version? Ready to give up totally because I am constantly reinventing the wheel and nothign ever stays fixed for more than a minute..

I don't remember exactly what finally fixed it. It seemed like I was on the right track the whole time. It was related to Preferences pointing to a folder that probably moved (because I had moved all my photos to external drive). But It seemed like I tried to change the locoation several times before it atually worked. But I set the folder in Preferences > File Handling .> Cloud Document Directory to the file I wanted it on (on my local C drive) and it seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks, this "open with" Photoshop is not an option fro me in Bridge. (Although once I opened with Windows Photo Viewer) I was able to right click and open with Photoshop. But that is two steps for every file, forever. I don't know why the whole thing just like totally blew up suddenly. I did a windows update which may have caused it. But any updates I do, I do because I have no choice. So if Adobe is downloading newer versions of Bridge than Photoshop what am I supposed to do about it? CTRL + ALT +SHIFT while simultaneously opening Bridge and resetting seems to have fixed this problem (although this in itself is somewhat of a pain). It is better than uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Creative Cloud App. There are too many updates and I spend literally two hours a day, just getting things to work that were not broken until the updatess. Like every single day.
