I don't think this is mistake but just a hard-core marketing campaign by Adobe to get the loyal users to prepare for the new level of subscription (AI credits). Hype these core users as beta community, tease the product and hit them with the new subscription early. It might seem hard to swallow now, but they'll get used to it. Adobe doesn't need feedback, they need buyers.

Thank you @droopydog500 , this confirms this is not a bug and that this is indeed Adobe's commercial strategy (although omitting that "limited trial" is only 2 prompts). So in the end it's all in the choice of words. We are not a beta community, we are paying users.

Same here! Was finally accepted to join the Beta program but was hit by Paywall after 2 prompts! As a long-term subscriber to Adobe's services, I sadly kind of doubt it's a mistake...

Hi, I was really looking forward to try Generate Video (beta)! My request to join the beta community was finally accepted after 6 weeks! But what a massive disappointment: I was only given 2 tries (2x 5s videos) before being hit by a paywall for a yearly subscription. As decade-long fully paying subscriber to Adobe's Suite, I would have expected better and more. And if Adobe is truly seeking meaningful feedback from beta users, offering them only two prompts is clearly not serious. So my only feedback will be about Adobe's commercial strategy: brutal, as always. Sorry guys.

Thank you for sharing your process. However I have to say the sheer complexity of this process is showing how far behind AE is compared to the the flourishing video editing market which at last makes it accessible to all with better AI algorithms. Times are changing.

This goes back to the same request time and time again! Illustrator's recovery function is a scandal: it doesn't work (unlike InDesign recovery that DOES work). In twenty years of using Illustrator I never had one single file recovered – despite checking Automatic Data Recovery. This is simply such a critical feature and Adobe's inaction is not acceptable.

As I said I have worked with Illustrator for decades, so I have learned to save regularly (the hard way). However it happens to all of us, there's always a time when under pressure or interrupted in flow, we forget to save. That's when software design need to come into play, especially when it's such a basic feature.

Yes I did create and save the file on my mac's hard drive. Then I saved several times. The file was still there but with the content from 3 hours before the crash (which was when I last saved it). Ouch

Alas Monika, I haven't ticked 'File Recovery' this time round, probably because it has been reset with the latest Illustrator update (why isn't it a default setting, like on InDesign?). Nevertheless I have ticked 'File Recovery' in the past and it has never worked - hence even more frustration. As for the 3rd party recovery plugin (why 3rd party on such an essential feature?) I haven't heard of it before – so thanks for the tip, I'll look into it when I have caught up with my work...

Without warning, I have lost 3 hours of work. Over the last 2 decades as a paying customer and long-term user, I have lost many weeks if not months of my life, just because Illustrator crashed in the middle of things - with no recovery or auto-save. I have seen countless designers live that misery, again and again, no matter how experienced with the software. No matter how long people have asked for some a recovery for Illustrator, Adobe has done nothing. 25 years of nothing. And to add insult to injury, you always have people who say it's possible, and you always the message 'would you like to open the recovered document'? Nothing there, as always, no matter the version, no matter the century. And of course Adobe will keep doing the same thing: nothing.
