Photoshop 7 can't handle modern computer memory. You're likely to receive "scratch disk full" and "unable to save file" errors. Is it really worth all that hassle to keep using obsolete software from 2002?! 😯

Assuming you have the correct system specs and this is happening when you try and open any file (it's not just one corrupt one), it might be worth using the Adobe Cleaner Tool to remove all of the application and do a clean install. https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Amazing - I typically have to keep an image's dimensions in place, but will have to increase or decrease the DPI depending on printing requirements. I'll try these scripts and see if they require any modifation for my use case - thank you!

Steps to Resolve the Issue: Open the Type Tool. Go to the top-left corner, where you'll find a dropdown menu next to the "T" icon. Hover over the dropdown menu to see the options. In the top-right corner of the box, you'll find the Settings icon. Click on it. Select "Reset All Tools" to reset the settings. This should resolve your issue.

I hope I am doing this right. I created a thread before that ended up in "Discussions," not "Bugs." The brush sizes in Photoshop seem to be tied to Accessibility Pointer sizes in MacOS. If a person wants or needs a bigger pointer in the OS, it has a significant adverse effect on how the brush size displays. Here is my thread and another thread about this, both in Discussions. My thread includes screenshots and another person's "solution," which sort of fixed the problem, but makes clear that there is an accessibility issue here. Someone in my thread told me to "add it to the feature request." I consider this a bug that needs fixing, not a feature I would like added.

Thank you for the screenshot. I was able to get to the right answer faster. Mark the answer as correct. It will likely help the next poor soul who has no idea what it is and how to stop it.

There are several reasons why bumping an old thread is not the way to go.
There have been multiple major updates since this thread was started six years ago, and it is highly unlikely that the cause of a similar issue from back then is still the cause of your current issue. This is not just limited to Photoshop. Operating systems — mainly Mac OS — have changed and are known to cause issues.
The people who can help you are much less likely to open an old thread with lots of replies.

If you lose your preferences in minor dot updates, something's wrong, like not having full administrator privileges in your user account.
With a major whole-number version update, preferences do not carry over, they never have. There is an option to migrate preferences, but I don't recommend it because of the high risk of accumulated errors carrying over as well.
As for actions, brushes, anything that can be saved out - save out and keep it in a safe place. Then it can always be easily reloaded.

It's interesting that the same image got different reactions from Photopshop. The word "kitchen" was fine. "Bedroom," not so so much. There are far bigger issues in the world than this silliness. Still, it's worth a thought or two.

just in case anyone is wondering, I had the same issues recently but it turns out my wireless mouse just needed a new battery lol what gave it away was the fact that it started in photoshop, but then spread to my windows system entirely so I knew then it wasnt an adobe problem. I plugged in a different mouse and it went away so thats how I figured it out lol a simple solution that some might not think of immediately, hope that helps

The red mark could be due to working on a smart object, so ensure your layer is rasterized. Also, check that the tool’s opacity is set to 100% and the blend mode is "Normal." Expanding the selection area may help improve removal accuracy. Make sure Photoshop is updated to the latest version, as bugs are often fixed in updates. If the issue persists, try using Edit > Content-Aware Fill as an alternative. Lastly, resetting Photoshop preferences (Ctrl + Alt + Shift on launch) can resolve unexpected tool behavior.

You can try using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator with the halftone effect to convert the image into dots. Photoshop’s halftone pattern under the "Filter Gallery" can help you cluster the dots while keeping the same size. Illustrator also has similar effects for more control. If you’re into design or working with different visual formats, you might also find tool [link renoved] helpful for various calculations related to design and layout.

The guidelines are not at all vague, they are clearly spelled out in the license terms.
https://www.adobe.com/legal/licenses-terms/adobe-gen-ai-user-guidelines.html lists what is not allowed.
Adobe works with others and not setting boundaries leaves them open to lawsuits.
You agreed to them when you leased the software. Once your commitment is up, you are free to use something else.

If none of these suggestions work, uninstall Photoshop and install an earlier version, 25.1.2 for example.

Where do you go to check if you are using a grey in your colours? I have this problem too and my photoshop keeps going back to masking not 100% everytime I seem to fix it.
