Hey! Curious if there are any updates? I record services using Adobe Rush with a Rode Mic plugged in. We randomly are having clips that have NO AUDIO when we stop recording and go to check it. Do you know of any way to retrieve the audio? One is fine, the next has no audio. We're about to ditch Rush completely for recordings.

Hi @gjetleyk,
I see that you are using a very old version of Premiere Pro but a new version of macOS. Is that so? Let us know.
Thanks, Kevin

These pops and clicks have been a problem for years. This is true for both old and new projects in my experience. Sometimes you can hear them before rendering and other times you can't. Clearing the cache has not helped in my instances. The only work-around I have found is to reboot my computer and restart all Adobe applications from scratch before any final renders that must be really good. Sometimes logging out and then logging in again on my iMac Pro running Big Sur 11.1 helps, too. I just had to do that with Premiere 14.7.0 (Build 23), released on 12/8/2020. And yes, this Premiere defect makes it just that much harder to get results that a client will accept.

This seems to be working for me so far. Thanks. It means I need to align all the audio clips that need the same effects on the same track. But that's probably a good practice anyway.

I take it back. This problem happens in the new version too. I should point out that for me only the normalize max peak and all peaks are blocked, the others are ok. Also, once the peaks are calculated, the peak is remembered if the project is closed and reopened, but not if premiere is restarted.

Hi, Matt from the Premiere team here. Are you using BlueTooth headphones? Can you take a picture of your Audio Hardware Preferences so I can take a look? -Matt

After many experiments, I finally solved my problem! Premiere was randomly switching from Adobe Desktop Audio in playback options to NDI output. I uninstalled NDI Tools and since then everything seems normal.

Ah and yes, if you study the logging of timestamps then you'll see that the host doesn't provide 4096 samples at the tail (end of a clip), it just provides ~3763 samples. And I guess it drops only 3763 samples in the beginning, that's why the echo appears.

Can you tell us what version of Premiere, what Operating system, and what the Prefs>Audio Hardware>I/O settings.. is set to?

One over-simplistic thing to try would be to check that you have the latest drivers for you Apollo interface and--even if you have the recent--try re-installing them. I'm still favouring the mixed up master clock source as a problem but an old or corrupted driver can cause similar symptoms. FYI, ASIO drivers are part of the system for keeping your recordings in sync--they work with Audition to compensate for the inherent delays in monitoring. Anyway, just a thought.

Listen to Charles. Lets the VST's install where they want to, rarely will you have to manually copy effect DLL's around. There is even less reason to do so now with Audition CS5.5. The Steinberg folder is put there because they developed VST and got naming rights. It is the de-facto location for 3rd party effects (depending on which DAW you use, Sonar creates their own folder and modifies the Registry to then use that folder). Unless the plug-in manufacture doesn't follow the registry setting, Audition should scan the correct folders. Generally, DO NOT mess around with the Audition program files folder. And if you do, all bets are off. Audition CS5.5 effects engine is a total from the ground up rewrite, so none of the legacy quirks that users have developed over the years as workarounds for perceived bugs in Audition 3.0 are no longer needed. Trust the default instal locations and you should be just fine. My advice for reinstalling still stands. Waves will properly place the DLL's in the correct folders; they know what they are doing. And scanning multiple copies of the same Waves DLL (as abicamusic appears to be trying to do) is probably what is causing his problems. That is why I said the he/she should uninstall and delete, reinstall, it will most likely work if all the files are in the proper location. -MattS
