This has now been fixed in MacOS 15.2. But I believe both Local and Remote Macs need to be updated to this OS version to work.

Yes, this issue is most likely related to the macOS Screen Sharing. It is affecting users on both Sonoma and the latest versions of Sequoia as well. The problem does not occur on any Mac locally -- ONLY on Macs that are being used remotely (connected to over the built-in mac OS Screen Sharing app), so working in Safe Mode on the local Mac does not solve the issue. When the remote Mac was running an earlier OS like Ventura, this issue did not occur -- ONLY when the remote Mac was upgraded to Sonoma or Sequoia did this issue occur. This problem happens on any opened Illustrator file, but the more complex the file is, the more likely it will outright crash, as opposed to a simpler file which will flash the "error" message for a split second (as detailed above) and cause a lag when moving a shape and will not draw the shape as it moves like it should. In Photoshop, this issue is more noticeable the larger the file. I haven't really noticed it for files below 1920x1080, but it becomes more apparent when dragging layers around any file that is about 1920x1080 or larger. If Adobe is unable to research or solve this issue, then do you have any way of contacting Apple for us? I have tried several times over the past year or more to contact Apple through their bug reporting site and community pages, but no one has responded. This is very frustrating for all Mac/Adobe users who are increasingly working remotely in recent years.

Thanks, Anubhav. I have tried all of those things, and the problems still persist in Illustrator and Photoshop, even under the latest MacOS Sequoia 15.1. This is only an issue using the built-in MacOS Screen Sharing app to remote into another Mac. We have several remote users at our company, and have experienced this on multiple versions of the Photoshop and Illustrator apps, on both Intel and M-chip Macs, and only started experiencing the problem after any remote machine was updated to Sonoma or later. The user's home Mac could be any version of the OS -- it only seems to be a problem if the remote Mac is Sonoma or later. Something changed in Sonoma that made Photoshop and Illustrator not work well when dragging items on the canvas. Maybe some kind of screen drawing issue over the remote network? This doesn't seem to be a problem in other graphically intensive apps like InDesign or After Effects. And this does not happen with other third party remote software like Splashtop or TeamViewer, but those apps have limitations that the built-in Mac Screen Sharing app does not. I've tried placing this bug report several times on the Apple Support website, to no avail. I don't know if you have any contacts at Apple support, but I have gotten nowhere for over a year now. And it seems I'm not the only one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for looking into this, Anubhav. I'll let Luke send you his examples, but here is a quick screen recording of the issue. For me, it also seems to activate my "CC Libraries" panel even when I have it closed, after the first time I open Illustrator and try to work a file. Not sure if that's part of the issue. I'm also attaching a screen recording of a similar problem in Photoshop. Not sure if you can relay this to the Photoshop team. I've tried making a bug report for both apps, but no one has responded to me yet, and this has been going on since the macOS Sonoma update. My current setup is: Home Mac: Sequoia 15.1 Remote Mac: Sonoma 14.6 Illustrator (on remote Mac): 29.0.1 Photoshop (on remote Mac): 26.0

And this is still happening in Sequoia. Apple needs to fix this it seems. I would encourage everyone to go over to their community bug pages and report there, because I've been reporting this since upgrading to Sonoma and Apple doesn't seem to be paying attention to my lonely voice.

I just updated a few Macs that my company remotes into for work to Sonoma 14.3. All three of these Macs were running Ventura 13.2 before the update and working just fine using Photoshop on the remote Macs. Now, when anyone connects to their updated remote Mac running Sonoma, trying to use the Move tool in Photoshop creates a very considerable lag, and the move itself doesn't even complete after the lag catches up. Photoshop is running the latest update, but it was updated before updating the macOS on each remote Mac. Also, both Home and Remote Macs are using "Adaptive Quality" (lowest render setting) in Screen Sharing. This seems to be an issue with the Screen Sharing app on Sonoma, receiving "click and drags" in Photoshop on the remote Mac. I have sent this same issue to Apple Support to see if it is somehow a Screen Sharing problem, but no other Adobe product seems affected, even intensive programs like After Effects. Here are the specs for all machines and programs involved: Home Mac: • Sonoma 14.3 • 2021 Apple M1 iMac / 8 GB RAM • Screen Sharing Version 4.1 (592.1) - "Adaptive Quality" Remote Mac: • Sonoma 14.3 • 2019 Mac Pro • Processor: 3.5 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon W • Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro W5700X 16 GB • Memory: 96 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 • Photoshop version 25.4.0 • Screen Sharing Version 4.1 (592.1) - "Adaptive Quality"

On version 25.4, this issue is still not fixed. I'm also not seeing it in the latest "Known Issues" list, so I'm hoping you guys haven't marked this as "fixed", because it is not.

@Mohit Goyal In addition, I see your "fixed issues" notes and it says that it has fixed the issue of "Color Profile not embedded in Save as PNG action", but it's not running an action on one file; this issue occurs ONLY when you run a BATCH on multiple files. The first PNG saved out during a batch will have the color profile embedded, but each subsequent PNG in the BATCH set will have a missing profile (untagged).

@Mohit Goyal I have updated to 25.3.1, and unfortunately this issue still persists when running a normal batch to save out PNGs with color profile embedded. It also doesn't work on a script we wrote which includes a batch saving out PNGs with color profile embedded.

Thanks for the additional testing @PP32138406s7ku. But, I can't use the Save for Web workarounnd. That's a totally different function and result as far as I'm concerned. I need to be able to save out PNGs at higher than 72ppi or with at 16bpc encoding per client's rules, and SFW won't do that. And per Tom's suggestion, I also can't turn dialogs on as that defeats the purpose for quickly automating batch saves if you have to manually hit the Save button each time on a dialogue box. And yes, this issue has been going on for awhile, since version 24.2. Here's hoping it's an easy fix for Adobe.

I tried both the minor update 24.7.1 and the major one 25.0.0, and both still have the bug. Even if you check the color profile box on your first manual PNG save, when you run a batch with an action that just saves out PNGs, the first PNG saved out in the batch DOES have the color profile embedded (as has always been the case for me) but each subsequent PNG saved out (assuming you are running the batch action on more than one file) has a missing color profile. I assume the Adobe team already had these updates "in the can" so to speak and did not have time to fix this in the newest updates yet.

I tested as well, and it is not fixed on my end. Can you try it again? The "Embed Color Profile" still does not stick after runing a batch of saving out PNGs, even after manually checking the box on the first PNG saved.

I don't know about Windows, because we only use Macs at the office. Yes, checking the profile box on the first PNG saved out manually DOES in fact keep it that way -- IF you are continuing to save out PNGs manually. However, if you check it once for manual saves, and then try to save out PNGs using the Batch function, it un-sticks, and reverts back to being unchecked for every PNG batched out past the first one. Please try using the Batch function, because that is our workflow. We need to export PNGs with profiles in batches, 30+ at a time.

ExifTool won't really work for us. Needs to be somewhat user friendly and just work inside Photoshop as that is what our users are equipped to handle.

Okay, we actually have a workaround action for the resolution, but if you have a solution for embedding the color profile AND the 16bpc data into each batched PNG files, that would suffice. Does Picture Processor do that?

Thanks for the information on Image Processor Pro. The built-in "Image Processor" won't do PNGs. I tried "Image Processor Pro" and it also seems to not be able to get around the inherent bug, even when I make sure it needs to include the source file's color profile and channel bit depth. I couldn't find a script named "Picture Processor". I have tried this on both an Intel and a M1 Mac. And yes, the broken save path in the action is not a problem. The action was created on a different machine and so any user who installs the Action set will no longer have the folder path the original user created. But it makes no difference as long as you check the box for "Override Action 'Save As' Commands" in the Batch menu. At least, it makes no difference in all of the versions we've used up until 24.2. But I don't think that is the issue. There is something inherent to the code in the new versions which "unsticks" the Embed color profile option after the first file is saved out in the batch. I just made a new action, just like the one you show in your latest edit to your post, which now includes a legit file path, and it still does not work. You tried the batch on several PSDs at once, correct? The first saved out PNG from the first PSD does correctly embed the color profile, but each subsequent PNG from each subsequent PSD in the batch is missing a profile when opened. And you do have your preferences set to give you a warning on missing profiles when opening files to check, correct?

This issue appears for the first time in version 24.2. So, 24.1.1 is the last version that works like it should. All newer versions, including the Beta, are breaking my Actions and Scripts that batch save PNGs (using "Save as" or "Save as a copy") so that the color profiles no longer remain embedded. This does NOT happen when using the Export function, but I need PNGs which are not for Web and force a 72ppi or an 8bpc encoding. I need to be able to Batch save PNGs in either 150 or 300ppi, and/or with a 16bpc encode. If I manually save out one PNG and check the "Embed color profile" option, it's fine. But each time I run an action or script using Batch, the first PNG (usually) keeps the color profile embedded, but all subsequent PNGs save out "untagged". Apparently, using Batch Save As breaks the condition that is supposed to keep the "Embed color profile" selection checked after each save. This issue has severely hampered our workflow at my company. No Script or Action that we write can overcome this inherent problem in the latest Photoshop builds. So, we cannot take advantage of any new updates past version 24.1.1. PLEASE HELP! Here is an example of an Action that is broken:

I've appreciated your quick responses so far, Cory. I'm worried I'm no longer getting through now. This issue has severely hampered our work progress. No Script or Action that we write can overcome this inherent problem in the latest Photoshop builds. Can you please get back to me and let me know if you have or have not received my last email from my Gmail account with the Action you requested. Or possibly give me an update if you have received it and if you have been able to replicate the issue on your end? Thanks.
