No-one asked for this?!
By @Stephen_Davies
You might want to read what I posted earlier in this thread almost two years ago:
For context, Photoshop had been falling behind in this area. Easy-to-edit gradients have been available in other image editors that I use (such as Adobe Lightroom Classic, but non-Adobe software had also advanced beyond Photoshop in this area), and I am one of the users who was waiting a long time for Photoshop to catch up here. I probably won’t ever want to use it the old way again, because the new way is so much more powerful and productive. This is not to dismiss your preference, you have a right to want to do it a certain way, which still exists. But this is to help explain why it is set the new way. Fortunately Adobe does let you still do this the old way…
The problem is not that Adobe changed it, because they had to change it. If they didn’t change it, that would just add fuel to the many opinions that get posted here that “the Photoshop code base still shows its old 1990s roots through old features that were never upgraded to keep up.”
The problem is that this new implementation of gradients still doesn’t quite work right, there are a few bugs here and there. But it was and is the right direction, they just need to give it the right level of fit and finish.

This is crazy! How can Adobe after more than 3 years, claim this fills their goal of 'supporting creative collaboration' as mentioned on their reason for discontinuing Synced files, https://helpx.adobe.com/au/creative-cloud/kb/eol-creative-cloud-synced-files.html?promoid=XXTQGVPB&mv=other&product-version=6.1.0.587&mv=product&mv2=accc Not good enough Adobe! Listen to your users!!

The size at the bottom left is the size in RAM and is based on the pixel width x pixel height x 3 (or x 6 for 16 bit/channel images) and then the number of layers. But here is the catch - any smart objects just show as if they were a single pixel layer at document size. In reality they could contain larger documents, multiple layers and even further 'nested' smart objects. So that Doc Size number at the bottom left of the screen is not a reliable indicator of the size required to save on disk.
There is a further complication when saving, depending on settings in Preferences File Handling. Compression can reduce the saved file size on saving , whilst both meta data and 'maximise compatibility', which adds another flattened layer, can increase it further. None of this is calculated until the actual save to disk.

I don't know if this is a solution or just a coincidence. But, the problem kept returning for me with every new PS update. Then I read somewhere someone mentioned something about having this issue when using the 'Edit In Photoshop' feature in Lightroom, which is what I do, too. So I tried opening a file outside of Lightroom and didn't have the problem. At that point, I realized I had 'Maximize Compatibility' turned off. I turned it back on and haven't had the problem since. For anyone having this issue, try turning Maximize Compatibility on and see if it solves the problem. It's worth a shot if nothing else works.

When I try to click on a tab to close it, a save as dialog box pops into existence, but is invisible. If I hit <RETURN>, the box sppears, so I have to save, then delete. Why can't I just close a tab I don't need but don't want to save? OS 12.6, PS 24.0.0

Has anyone replied to this? I have the same issue. I can't even minimize to go to the file where I write the latest password that I had to use to open the Adobe file. How do these requests appear when I'm not even on-line??

Try to disable Hardware Acceleration (Flash Player Settings) to see if this fixes the problem. You may also try to update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter. You can find earlier FP versions at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html (the downloads are huge, as they contain all released versions for all platforms).

Wow, so simple! I should have known it was a Vista issue!
I've had to run other dev programs as administrator, but forgot to
do it with Flex Builder. Works great now, thanks!
