"Okay, so now have a new issue with PhotoShop and Ventura: When I open a grayscale image, the file opens completely black. Resizing, trying to use any tool, or closing and reopening the file does not fix the problem (happens on many different files - not just one). The only thing that I found that works is - I have to change the image to RGB, then change it back to grayscale.
Anyone else have this issue?"
Nope, grayscale (a single-channel grayscale document) is fine under Ventura and the latest version of PS.
Try disabling your GPU in preferences; any difference?

Deleting only the mask doesn't make any sense. There are numerous easy ways already to delete or disable a mask. Click and press delete should delete the entire layer, as it has been for all previous versions of Photoshop. To change it means all people using automated behaviour while working have to adapt to new behaviour. When implementing new features please just make it optional not manditory changes. Thank you.

Even though I have this 10-bit test on my Mac, I tried downloading it from Dropbox to make sure nothing funny happened to it (like maybe somehow I uploaded a JPEG etc). Well, it looks as expected on my SpectraView in the latest version of PS on macOS 13.0.1 at 100% zoom.
The 30-bit check box is grayed out, and more importantly, there's a check mark.

@SteveSchadt The team needs to have more information, as the fix given is temporary, until the underlying issues such as yours are ironed out.

@Viscott , the note was for those that had older versions of the driver, which would have been problematic for any version of Photoshop.
If you have 24.0.1 installed, then could you try the following:
Navigate with Windows Explorer to: [Installation Drive]:\Users[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2023\Adobe Photoshop CC 2023 Settings\ Create a text file called "PSUserConfig.txt" with the only text line in that file as follows:
GPUAllow3D 0
This does NOT work in versions of Photoshop before 24.0.1.
Restart Photoshop and test.

Hi @si-boneGFX thank you for the post. It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
Thank you,

you guys really need to incorporate your community input before removing features like this. I depend on this pen tool width and varity of color chocies. what graphics program in this day and age limits user colors to 10? Did you allow some non-artist to make that decision? You've restricted it so much that it's useless.

Same problem here. Still present in PS 22.4
Hello,
I'm 35, have been using Photoshop since version 5.0 in 1998. Using the software on an everyday basis as a working tool for my company.
I had a computer with i7 2.60 Ghz •32GB Ram •Nvidia Quadro K2200M •Win7Pro64 and here is how Curved were handled in PS 2015.5.2
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xYSd4Fr_gUQ" style="max-width: 100%; max-height: 100%;" width="640px"></iframe>
Now I have a computer with AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12 Core 3.70 Ghz • 64GB Ram•Nvidia RTX 3700•Win10Pro64 and here is how "Curves" are handled by (crappy) PS CC 2021 (22.3.1)
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/B1u8r-F7GX4" style="max-width: 100%; max-height: 100%;" width="640px"></iframe>
Needless to say that I know how to set the preferences in PS about usage of RAM, history, Open CL etc etc. Everything is well set.
Do you have some explanation or, even better, a solution Adobe ?? Every sliding-based tool is handling the same way. Of course my Win10 installation is all new and fresh and up-to-date with latest drivers.

@JeffreyTranberry I have 22.4.1, and the last two days PhotoShop has been crashing non-stop. Is there a way I can back out of this update and go to the previous version? This latest is a disaster.

The pattern on the texture layer style attribute can be scaled, as Jeff suggests, and it looks OK to me. Checking with one of the engineering teams as to whether something changed with pattern handling between 2020 and 2021.
