> In all seriousness, what is wrong with Ctrl/Cmd + V to paste in a new layer? It's a single command.
I don't think I've ever needed a blank document the size of the clipboard. I very frequently want the clipboard to open in Photoshop. Why should I enter a keystroke to avoid something I never want?

Thanks for all the ideas. Need to spend time on them. Essentially I want those concave channels be convexx (rising above the flat sections, not embossed in).

Slightly different issue and alternate solution... I have had a similar issue with the canvas *apparently* not extending equally on all sides. I can't reliably reproduce the issue, but it most frequently occurs when I have extended the original image using generative fill and somehow cropped. (There is one image that exibited the issue without having been extended.) I say "apparently", because when I enlarge the canvas, I discovered that Photoshop is somehow retaining the precropped data and filling that in when I expand the canvas. This goes unnoticed when there is little significant detail in the filled in data. The solution is to crop the image (at the full size of the image as loaded) before resizing with the Canvas Size. The example below is of an image expanded using generative fill and then cropped (at an earlier time). I opened the image (2400x1513 pixels) and then created the red blocks at the 4 corners. I added a background layer, then increased the canvas size by 440 pixels in height and width with the anchor point at the center. I made the background blue for contrast. The resultant image shows where the "hidden" image was displayed. (Ideally, in this case, I would want the blue border to start at the outside of the red blocks.)

The functionality is already old, so I suppose it may be part of the Photoshop-code itself or be a plugin, the internal workings of which we have no access to.
And while I suspect it makes the determination of the relevant snippets’ positions and angles in a clever way, it could employ an outdated approach by today’s standards.
I would recommend that you post a Featuer Request (mark it »Idea« instead of »Discussion«).
That would be bound to register at Adobe (even if you should get no feedback).
But please try to explain (and accompany with sketches/mock-ups) what you would actually want to get – a dialog/Panel with customizable settings for padding of the isolated elements, just one menu item that rotates an image (if so what should it do if more than one »clip-worthy« element is identfied in the image), …?

Another way to select all areas of the same color is to use the command Select > Color Range, and sample the color.

It's only an idea. Check if your GPU support is enabled and if you have installed the recent version of the graphic device driver. If you have installed a NVidia card make sure the you have installed the Studio version of the driver and not the Game Ready version.
You can alos try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset-preferences
It's recommended to backup your settings before resetting the preferences.
See here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#backup-photoshop-preferences

Swift update, I have updated Photoshop to 26.3 and its still the same. However, on a different MacBook that I have, on 26.3, I can see the Gradient controls, the other Macbook is on Seqouia, but I am not willing to upgrade my main macbook as I had some non-compatible driver warnings for logitech and possibly a few oither things in the upgrade process, and there doesnt seem to be a log provided of the exceptions thrown during the upgrade process.

If you lose your preferences in minor dot updates, something's wrong, like not having full administrator privileges in your user account.
With a major whole-number version update, preferences do not carry over, they never have. There is an option to migrate preferences, but I don't recommend it because of the high risk of accumulated errors carrying over as well.
As for actions, brushes, anything that can be saved out - save out and keep it in a safe place. Then it can always be easily reloaded.

Some CS5 & CS6 customers have had success with OFFLINE activation by generating a response code and then disconnecting from the Internet. But this won't help them if their activation limit is exceeded.

IMO, Adobe should lay the Creative Suite monster to rest. At this point, it's a bigger hassle than it's worth.

Appreciated for your help, is this a screen recording ? If yes, would you share the video with me ?
By @Calvin21914323wi10
There isn’t any more to the original video, it was done in one take and not edited, just converted to GIF. If you want to be able to stop it and play back specific sections, or look at it frame by frame, you can use your web browser to download the GIF animation from this page and load it into any app that can play back a GIF animation.
For example, you can drop an animated GIF into Photoshop, and if you open the Timeline panel (Window > Timeline), it will provide playback controls.

Do you have install PS v26 as an update? If yes most of the settings from the former version will be taken over. If you want to clean the list click in PS on "File - Open Recent..." , goto to the end of the list and click on "Clear Recent File List"
Do you have tried to create a file in "C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2026\Adobe Photoshop 2026 Settings" called "PSUserConfig.txt"
Insert the following lines:
# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
Then restart Photoshop.

Stephen, thanks! This is part of why I've never gotten into smart objects. So confusing to learn. Do you agree, in this case/ scenario.. (read thread), maybe i'm best just adding a new merge visible to the top of all alwyers for the unsharp mask?

You can try using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator with the halftone effect to convert the image into dots. Photoshop’s halftone pattern under the "Filter Gallery" can help you cluster the dots while keeping the same size. Illustrator also has similar effects for more control. If you’re into design or working with different visual formats, you might also find tool calculadora alicia mejorada helpful for various calculations related to design and layout.

This happens with floating layers, but not a flat Background layer:
I've known about this "forever", so I've always been careful when resizing layered files. Take your precautions, and this shouldn't be a big problem.
I presume the explanation is that floating layers support content outside the canvas boundary, but a background does not.

You could use the Vanishing Point filter. I would isolate the subject on a separate layer, and feather the top edge of he paneling. Then the clone stamp in the Vanishing Point will follow the perspective. I'd recommend using a small soft brush, working in sections, changing the sample point frequently to deal with the differences in lighting.
