I'm not sure what you mean by configured differently as they use the same VPN, the same server location, the same protocol. Of course they'll have different IP addresses. Nonetheless, as more detail has come to light about exactly what's going on, I agree that Adobe and Microsoft technical people need to work this out. Thus we are in agreementt that there's nothing more this forum can do. I do appreciate all the suggestions offered.

I got the automated mail asking me to mark which response was correct. In a sense I suppose they all are, but none are the answer to specifically what is causing the problem or what to do about it. I am hoping to hear further from the ticket I placed. Their first reply said it was simply Adobe blocking the VPN. I replied that If it were simply that Adobe was blocking a VPN, then why would Adobe block that VPN on one PC (my desktop running 24H2) but never block it on another with identical VPN settings (my laptop but running Windows 23H2)? Yes, the two IP addresses will be different but they are in the same block from the same VPN provider site, and remain consistent until the VPN is turned off and has to reconnect. On the other hand, I understand that Microsoft has changed security requirements in 24H2. From what I’ve read it will now view certain websites as potentially dangerous that it did not before, requiring that such websites be updated in some way. However, if that were the cause, then one would think the desktop with 24H2 would be blocked whether the VPN were on or off? Thus, there is something about the interaction here that causes neither answer above to seem to make sense to me as the cause. It’s important because VPN is part of my (and many other people’s) standard computer security.

Yes. Both use Windscribe VPN with the same settings.

So far I haven't found other sites blocked. However, I did get a reply to my ticket and it asked if I had a VPN. I tried turning it off and voila, I had access again. Of course running without my VPN is not a fix, and it works fine with my VPN on my laptop with 23H2. But at least there is something that might help pinpoint why Portfolio and Microsoft are not playing together nicely.

Wow. I guess portfolio is pretty much at the bottom of the list. That's a long delay. I guess they don't consider Portfolio to be mission critical for anyone. But then it does have such an opaque and clunky interface that I can't see anyone using it long term.

Thanks. Been there. Done that. I put in a request a earlier. I tried help earlier as well, and if the answer is there it's fairly well hidden. I am sure it is 24H2 related because the problem started when my desktop was upgraded by MS to 24H2, and I don't have the problem with my laptop which has not been upgraded yet. Before the upgrade they both worked.

Microsoft force upgraded me to 24H2 by not letting me postpone it any longer. Now when I try to edit my portfolio I get "Access to www.myportfolio.com was denied" or nothing at all depending on the browser. I really need to make some changes. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks,
Dale

After the above reply was posted I was tied up on urgent projects and out of town so that I was not able before today to sit down and do the above. I opened LrC. I received a message that there was a problem with the preview cache and LrC would attempt to repair it next time it opened. LrC then closed itself. I opened it again, and the problem went away. Very bizarre as I had restarted and rebooted a number of times since the problem appeared, and nothing made any difference. In fact, last night I tried, and the problem was still present. I had not gotten that error message about the preview cache in any previous tries. So what made this time different? No idea. Wish I had something more specific to offer in case someone else had this problem. But the instruction above seem like a reasonable approach, and I was preparing to do them had this not bizzarely fixed itself this time. So thanks for providing them.

A few days ago some bizarre behavior started.
I open LrC. It is in Grid View. Everything appears normal except there is only gray where images should be both in the grid view and in the filmstrip.
I open the Develop Module. Again, nothing but gray where images should be.
I click on an image in the filmstrip however, and suddenly it shows up in the filmstrip and in the develop screen above.
I click on another image in the filmstrip and the same thing happens. I do it a third time.
Now I do it a fourth time and the first image that I clicked on in the filmstrip becomes gray again.
I go back to the library module and the three that showed in the develop module now show in the grid and filmstrip. All others remain gray.
Things I've tried.
Restarting LrC.
Rebooting the computer and restarting LrC.
Turning off the graphics processor in Preferences.
Bizarre situation. Any thoughts appreciated.

When LrC gives me a message that the photo has been changed in an external app, then it knows what has changed or it can't give me the message. So why not show me? Why not tell me what has changed? It's pretty useless to try to make a decision about whether to overwrite or not if I don't have any idea. And guessing games really aren't that much fun. If I could see the values that are different, then I could make a decision. This is probably my most frustrating thing about LrC. Please consider this going forward. Thanks.

PS CS5 is on my laptop. I need to reinstall Win7 or possibly install Win8. I may first try to restore a disk image. PS CS5 may be installed on the disk image, I don't recall for certain. PS CS5 may perhaps not be installed on the disk image. I may do a clean install of Win7 if the disk image doesn't do what I want. I may do a clean install of Win 8. The question...Should I deactivate prior to this or not? If I deactivate and the disk image already has PS CS5 installed, then I'm concerned about problems. If I don't deactive and the disk image does not have PS CS5 installed, or if I do a clean install, then I'm concerned about problems. Which is the best-way to go to get through this deactivation hassle? Dale
