As Chuck says. Nothing has ever been visible outside the canvas, unless you expand the canvas to include it.
Yes, it's still there, there can be content outside the canvas boundary - but you don't see it.

I would say this is a bug with export as. I've never cared for that feature and still prefer to use save for web. Save for web was suppose to be removed, once Adobe got export as refined — doesn't look like that has hapened or will happe. Any time soon. It sounds like you need a workaround. I've been using Bridge's file export a lot, for multiple files. That way I often don't need to even open PS.

Adding HSL Masking sliders as an alternative to the color point selector in color range mask, simillar to HSL Secondary in Lumetri/Premire Pro. The color range is a great tool, but when batch editing shots where the color point moves it isn't ideal. Being able to mask with HSL Sliders as an alternative of having the color picker automatically adjust HSL sliders would be more useful I think.

As designed doesn't necessarily mean it's the right thing for everyone who uses the tool! I manage thousands of assets that are tied to an ID, so the PSD and the exports live in the same directory. Point being, the majority of my use-case is that I need to save JPGs alongside my PSDs. For example – I have a folder that is /SomeProject/0012/ In that folder is my source file, usually /SomeProject/0012/0012-Source.jpg Then, I create my PSD, usually /SomeProject/0012/0012-Main.psd – it does this by default :white_heavy_check_mark: Then when I go to export my PSD to jpg, it takes me to the previous ID I was working in : /SomeProject/0011/0012-Main.jpg Obviously, it is incredibly annoying for me to redirect to my most recent folder so that I can save the export to the right directory : /SomeProject/0012/0012-Main.jpg That said, I ocassionaly dump to a global exports folder so the as-designed behavior is useful in that case : /SomeProject/GlobalExports/ Solution : an option that let's you switch from your app-wide most recent save location vs. your export most recent save location... such as this! When adobe switched from "save for web" to "Export As", it added the following option in settings. Thank god.

I know this is almost a decade old thread but I am having same issue of not seeing the timeline shortcut option for Frame Animation. Seems like Adobe still hasn't made this an option?

I hope I am doing this right. I created a thread before that ended up in "Discussions," not "Bugs." The brush sizes in Photoshop seem to be tied to Accessibility Pointer sizes in MacOS. If a person wants or needs a bigger pointer in the OS, it has a significant adverse effect on how the brush size displays. Here is my thread and another thread about this, both in Discussions. My thread includes screenshots and another person's "solution," which sort of fixed the problem, but makes clear that there is an accessibility issue here. Someone in my thread told me to "add it to the feature request." I consider this a bug that needs fixing, not a feature I would like added.

Finally got the solution after installing reinstalling like ten times. I went into the registry Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.psd Deleted the 3 folders in there: OpenWithList, OpenWithProgids, UserChoice. Restarted the PC, then went into file associations and manually added photoshop to open the PSD files, since it wasn't there by default. By the end this reg entry should look like this instead of the "photoshop.26"

Nevermind I found it! You have to convert the image to a smart object, and then go to filter > filter gallery > artistic cutout - looks much more appealing than posterize to me. Thanks for the helpful responses!

I just replied to your other comment, but a version of this script as well where I can open multiple dngs/CR2s as smart objects (skipping ACR) would be amazing. Thank you for your help!

Oh, OK. If it's just to sketch it out to give clients an idea, and total realism isn't expected by anyone, then these suggestions should work.

With Photoshop ArtBoard being such a robust product
By @pacificm
This is debatable. Artboards were a relatively recent addition in the history of Photoshop, added in response to web/mobile design to an application that was originally designed for print graphics. There are a number of ways that the “bolted-on” nature of artboards can be observed, such as the confusing way artboards interact with document size (Crop tool, Image Size, Canvas Size…), and how only the newer Export commands can export artboards properly.
The way I interpret this problem is that not being able to have a different timeline for each artboard is another symptom of artboards still not being fully integrated with Photoshop.
Animation is a secondary feature in Photoshop. It’s great that it has it, but again the video and animation features of the Timeline are quite limited compared to software designed around motion.
Many animators (and special effects teams for cinema and TV) use Adobe After Effects. Some people even call it Photoshop for animation. For projects with multiple components, the Adobe video apps (Premiere Pro and After Effects) offer nested timelines, so for example you can have a parent timeline for the entire project, and nest sub-timelines that animate components. For example you could create a timeline that animates a wheel that rotates once per second, then drop two of those into another timeline of a car (so that the car now has two rotating wheels), and then animate the car across the project timeline.
After Effects also provides far more control over keyframes than Photoshop, such as what kind of interpolation between keyframes you want, and acceleration/deceleration in and out of keyframes.
P.S. I just read your reply that you’ve moved on to Apple Keynote. After Effects has a steep learning curve, so if Keynote is doing the job, that’s great. I have seen many impressive demos of the animation possibilities in Keynote, and need to learn a little more about those myself. (Apple also has an application called Motion that’s like After Effects but not quite as deep.)

That's great @Chuck Uebele – thanks for correcting my code!
@TiagoRocha – Please mark Chuck's reply as a correct answer if works for you (it did for me).
P.S. There appears to be a duplicate artboardGuides function code block which can be removed.

In response to the bid, owner Sam Altman posted on X: "no thank you, but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion if you want."

This works but not as intended of course, it took 7 layers and resized them but left one of the seven resized off a bit from the entered value and other layers. Appreciate the share and effort here, I think in time PS will add this or AI will get smarter to understand better and make it work. I tired AI and it blew the art off the canvas (4) layers and left (3) layers on canvas. We shall do this manually for now.

You can apply mask from another file, in the current version of camera raw, opening the files directly into it. Can can sync the corrections and just unchecked all except for masking.
