17 Feb. 2025 Hello Axel, My replies--- Is the external drive (and with the same drive letter as the last time) connected when you click on the import button? [Yes] When you quit the popup with ok can you choose another folder? [Yes] If yes, try to select a folder on the internal hard drive as the destination folder. [No problem – I use “Pictures” folder located on my external hard drive.] What happened if you open the import dialog again after you chosen the destination folder on the internal drive? [Same pop-up message appears. That is my problem, I cannot stop the message: “The destination folder “” is not available. Using “Pictures” folder instead,” Everything else seems to be working correctly. It is only the pesky pop-up I cannot stop. Axel – thanks for staying with this.

Hello dj_paige, I am importing folders ALREADY stored in my external drive. In LrC, I click the “Import” button on the bottom left of the screen and that is when the message, “The destination folder “” is not available. Using “Pictures” folder instead,” pops-up. Thanks for staying with this.

16 February 2025, The precise message I continue to receive is as follows: {LrC} [< the Icon appears and this message:] The destination folder “” is not available. Using “Pictures” folder instead. [end of message] I must click OK to make it go away. I do not understand stand why this has started. My normal destination folder is the “Picture” folder located on an external drive. It appears to indicate the folder is called “”. I do not know how to stop the pop-up. dj_paige, my reply to your message below - Change the Destination Folder in the Import dialog box (right side, near the top) to a folder that exists. [Sorry I do not find an Import dialog box to make a change.]

[It is on my external drive in a file called “Pictures”] Is it on an external hard drive? [Yes] If so, make sure it's correctly mounted. [It is and is functional] Did you change the name of the folder recently by any chance? [No] If you're using Import Presets, could you try setting the Import Preset to "None" and manually selecting the folder? [I not not using Presets.] --

A few folders in my LrC catalog are greyed-out and shows “0” files, but when I open the folder in Windows 10 Explorer, there are pictures there. What causes this and how can I fix it?

Sorry Ian, I found your recommendations beyond my technical understanding. When I attempted as you suggested, I am reluctant to change settings in the preferences I do not understand, that may affect other functions of Lr. I would expect Lr C to operate normally without other technical adjustments, and if the Adobe tech had problems – the situation remains beyond my capabilities too. So, I will continue to download files from my SD card directly to my computer, using Bridge, then later import them into Lr C.

While using Lr C, when it freezes, I get a pop-up, message "Adobe Lightroom Classic is not responding,” but the system keyboard and mouse continues to operate normally. The "busy wheel" continues to spin, and I can do nothing else with Lr while it is in this state.

[April 2, 2022 initial statement correction, see below] Each time I attempt to add import pictures to my catalog from my SD card my system locks-up freezes and I have to close the program. What am I doing wrong?

April 2, 2022 Hello Denis, thanks for taking the time to reply and send an example picture. I so appreciate it. Yes, your example picture is what it looks like when I try. Then the next thing I click, will cause the system to freeze. Earlier this week I gave permission to the Adobe support person to remotely operate my Lr Classic and he had the same results – the system would FREEZE. After several tries, his comment was – “Okay, it is clear that GPU is cause root of the problem.” And, “Lrc 11.2 needs 2000 ops/sec GPU as minimum requirement.” However, later, when I use Adobe Bridge, I can import from the SD card with no problems. That may be my work around – download into a folder using Bridge and later import using Lr C. This just seems so unnecessary. What do you think?

Sorry the problem remains unresolved. Useing Lr Classic, the system continues to freeze when I attempt to import from an SD card. Adobe suggests it may be a graphics hardware problem but I am able to import normally useing both MS Explorer or Adobe Bridge.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I can but this adds additional, and seemingly unnecessary work to the process. I’d prefer to use the LrC tools. Is this possible?

When I attempt to import from the SD card the "busy wheel" starts spinning then the system locks-up. I was told it may be a problem with the SD card but it does the same with another card.

Is there an easier way? Using Lr Classic, I have a problem downloading pictures from my SD card. Is this a good “work-around?” Using Adobe BRIDGE, I download the images to a folder on my hard drive, then open Lr Classic and import the pictures into my catalog. Is there an easier way?

I have the identical problem as peterm4847186 posted here in 2018! Has there not been a fix for this in Lr Classic in four years? Using Adobe Bridge, the card reads and downloads the files as it should, but this doesn’t enter it into the Lr catalog! What am I missing?

This is from a Lr Classic - newbie! I. Using Windows 10, can I back-up the ORIGNAL images, (not the Lr Catalog) using Lightroom Classic to an external hard drive? I've searched You Tube but no answer found. II. If these back-ups can't be done within Lr, then just backing up the images normally will lose the Lr Catalog functions for those stored on the external drive?

Is there a way to “gang” recover or “re-sync” "collection" data back into Bridge Collections? I have a new computer system with Windows 10, and a new Ps from CC. All my stored pictures were back-up and reinstalled. But now all my image information in Ps Bridge Collections is missing. How do I recover the data? I have a multitude of “collections.” The “collection” shows but all are empty and shows: “xx Missing Files Detected.” When I click “fix” it requires a search for each individual image. Is there a way to “gang” recover or “re-sync” the data back into Collections?
