I would like to know the same thing. I have a lot of generative credits left over from my CC subscription. Why can't I use them for Firefly?

I just tried that, I deleted my preferences, restarted Photoshop, deleted the shortcut yet it still works when I press <.

Yes, as I mentioned, I did delete the key for this shortcut, yet when pressing <, it still works. I can't get rid of it. Assigning a different key doesn't help either. I also reverted to Photoshop defaults and tried removing the key, that doesn't help either.

@creative explorer Thanks for the idea, but I already tried deleting it. It still is assigned to the "<" key on my keyboard, even if I overwrite it with a different shortcut, this key will always select first brush. This key isn't even listed in the shortcuts. I cannot get rid of it. It might be unchangeable like @Bojan Živković said.

@creative explorer As I wrote in my initial post, there is no keyboard shortcut assigned to this function at all (see screenshot).

@creative explorer Thanks for the tip, but "first brush" is not really a tool that's exposed to the toolbar, so it doesn't show up in this list. I do have tools hidden this way, but I still need them occasionally, so I don't have the shortcuts for them disabled.

I can reproduce a Photoshop crash in the following manner every time:
- Go to Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts
- Type "quick" into the search bar
- Click on the marked spot on the screenshot. This creates a text entry field for a shortcut, that doesn't have a function assigned to it
- Click anywhere else on the UI
- Photoshop crashes
Can anyone else reproduce this behavior?
Using PS 26.3.0 and Windows 10.

I'm using a German keyboard layout, and the key to the right of the left SHIFT key (which is \ on US keyboards I believe, it's < on German ones) is assigned to the function "first brush". I took a look at the keyboard shortcuts, and there is nothing assigned to "first brush", yet whenever I hit this key, the first brush is selected. How can I get rid of this shortcut completely? It keeps messing my workflow since I occasionaly hit it by accident while painting, and it changes my currently used brush. Photoshop 26.3.0 on Windows 10.

Our monitors (Dell U2724D) are factory calibrated, but we don't have calibration hardware ourselves. I tried changing the monitor profile and restarting Photoshop, however the RGB value of the color picked outside the canvas is identical, no matter which profile I select. So I don't think it has anything to do with the monitor profiles. Creating a color managed document also returns the wrong value in the pattern preview area. I understand now that Photoshop treats the area outside the canvas differently and that this might work as intended, even if it is not intuitive, I'm just still puzzled why I'm the only one experiencing this issue. I'd like to get to the bottom of why it's only happening on my machine.

Okay, but what I don't understand is how this problem only occurs on my machine then? Shouldn't it be the same result on identical hardware/software at least?

I do have software that can switch the monitor profile. I tried all different settings available (default is set so sRGB), but the color picked outside the canvas is always the same. Also disabling the software does not make any difference. We also use the same monitor in our team, so it's strange that only I have this problem, if it is monitor related.

Another observation I made: - it does not happen with greyscales - it only starts occuring once one of the rgb values is greater than 2 My colleagues with the same Photoshop version also cannot reproduce it. But since resetting my preferences doesn't fix it, what else could be different on my setup that interferes with this? We have the same hardware and should be on the same driver versions.

Can anyone reproduce this bug? - Create a new document, RGB 8 bit, untagged. - Fill it with #ff0000 - Go to View -> Pattern Preview - Use the color picker, set it to Point Sample and Sample All Layers - Pick the red color *outside* of the canvas (depicted by the thin border) The picked color is not #ff0000 but #e43316. If I use the color picker inside the canvas, it picks the correct color. Using 26.2.0 and Windows 10.

@didiermazier Thanks for the tip, but this doesn't work for me. I changed it to Latin and East Asian Layout, created a new workspace where I checked all boxes in the dialog to save everything. It works after creating the first text layer, but starting at the second new text layer that I create, it reverts back to world-ready layout.

@Ged_Traynor My colleague has the same problem, and he has different preferences than I have. I tried resetting my preferences, and the result is the same. The identical looking menu in the shape fill gradient options works as expected by the way. Maybe it has to do with Windows UI scaling that you're not experiencing this issue? I'm using a 2560x1440 resolution with scaling in Windows set to 100% and scaling in Photoshop set to Auto (so it should be at 100% as well).

For me, the pulldown menu to select the gradient type of a stroke is hard to read, since all the entries seem to be bunched up in this menu. Tested with PS 25.11.0 on Windows 10.

I don't think the issue is exporting a 9 slice asset for most people. What I would like to see is a smart object in Photoshop that I can scale in any dimension, and it works like a 9 slice in other applications. I.e. I can define within the smart object the 9 segments of my UI element (a button or window for example), and when I exit the smart object and scale it on my canvas, it automatically uses the 9 slice info to scale properly to any dimension (either by repeating segments or stretching, this should be an option).

Is there a way to make "Latin and East Asian Layout" the default setting in the paragraph panel? Every time I create a new text layer, I have to select this option since it defaults to "World-Ready layout", which is quite annoying. Using PS 25.11.0.

This does not seem to work, when I press enter the 2nd time, the 2nd asterisk disappears as you said, but when I go back with the cursor to the first asterisk in the line above, it still won't let me select it and I cannot delete it.

I noticed today that if you create a text layer, type asterisk (*) and press space, Photoshop seems to create a bullet point list. Pressing enter creates a second asterisk and so on. However, it does not seem to be possible to get rid of the asterisk any more. Even when copying the text (the asterisk can't be selected), and pasting the text in a new text layer, Photoshop starts a bullet point list again. Is there a way around this? Using PS 25.6.0 on Windows 10.

When moving multiple layers at the same time within a group that has a layer mask applied to it, the previously visible view of the mask seems to move with the layers. When moving only a single layer within that group, the mask remains in place as expected. See video. To reproduce: - create a new document - create a new layer and on this layer, create a rectangular selection and fill it with green - create a new layer and on this layer, create a rectangular selection and fill it with red - select both layers and group them - apply a layer mask to the group, for example in the shape of a circle - select both layers within the group and move them Result: The prevously visible view of the layer mask seems to move with the layers. When stopping the movement, you have to for example change the layer visibility of one of the layers to refresh the image with the correct layer mask position. I've observed this behaviour for a very long time now, unfortuantely I don't remember the Photoshop version when this bug was introduced. How to reproduce: - create a new document, add a guide - select the guide by clicking on it - make a rectangular selection - use ALT + Backspace to fill the selection with the foreground color Result: - the selected guide is cleared and the selection is not filled as expected This shortcut for clearing guides is not documented, at least it is not configured on my Photoshop under the keyboard shortcuts for this menu entry. Using Photoshop 25.5.0 on Windows 10.

Each time I launch Photoshop, I have to go to the actions panel, select Playback Options and set it to accelerated. For some reason, step-by-step is the default, and changing this option is not saved after quitting Photoshop. Is there any way around this? Using PS 24.7.0 on Windows 10.
