Hi, @jodmcc49, I just happened to relook at your original message and you state you're on Catalina OS?
There's a problem there. As shown on https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/system-requirements.html
Here's a screenshot:
Sorry I didn't notice that earlier.

I assume you are viewing the pdf in Acrobat or Reader. Can you upload the file so we can have a look? Did you open and save the pdf in another program? that could flatten the layers.

I am commenting to confirm this is still a problem. I am working on a catalogue for a gallery, & I wanted to have hand written sections in it. So I made my catalogue in InDesign, exported them as PNGs, then edited the ones I wanted to write on with Photoshop. I repackage all the edited pictures with the old ones through acrobat, but the hand written pages are inflated to huge sizes. There is something obviously wrong with acrobat & how it reads them. It doesn't matter what I do. I have tried at pretty much every single resolution & pixel density I could, & no matter what I did; the edited images from Photoshop came out very enlarged. I have tried pretty much everything you can do with formatting & reformatting something in and out of Acrobat. I suspect when you do something to that image in Photoshop, it forces itself to expand in order to fit the details from things like brush strokes and filters(?) I'm not sure, but I'm very sure this isn't getting fixed because god forbid I pay $60 a month for Adobe pruducts to work together properly. The only feasible solution I have found is to export your pages at really high resolutions, put them in a PDF in Acrobat, then instead of a printer, choose "PDF Creator", then scale the Images down. Now this in itself can cause so many problems with compression & image quality so be wary. An extra kick in the stomach- even if this works Acrobat will only export them to fit legal sized paper (I'm working with a SQUARE catalogue. Ugh.) Thank you for everyone actually having real input on this subject & sharing your experience. It's very obvious which half of this thread actually understands what the problem is. I also would like to thank all the useless "Well, PDF doesn't change MY document" comments. This forum never fails to be the most useless place for any actual problem solving.

I did several years ago and was provided a polite "We're looking into it." Whatever that means. But yes, you are correct, this has to be made by Grammarly, not Adobe.

old post, but as a suggestion, use the searchable image output option. Usually you are just wanting to be able to search the document anyway. If you really need the covert to editable text/images option you'll just have to wait. I've heard that searchable image option has more accurate ocr over the editable text/image option, but i've never tested it.

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
Would you mind sharing the version of the OS and the Acrobat App you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure its updated to the latest version 25.01.20428, go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
What is the workflow/steps you are taking? A small video recording of the steps and the issue as it occurs would be very helpful for more clarity and understanding
We are here for help, just need more info.

Hi @kittee47 ,
Thank you for your feedback.
We are unable to reproduce the issue on our end. If we delete files one by one and undo, it will restore last deleted file and if we delete multiple files at once and undo, it will restore all the files.
Please share the screen recording of the issue at sharewithbr@adobe.com and mention this thread. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Bridge Team

Hi, @RJF9919, There is one big thing you need to know: Acrobat has no scanning capability whatsoever. Rather, it uses an extension called Twain that links your scanner's software with Acrobat. So, when you are scanning with Acrobat, you are using your scanner's software.
What you are describing is one of several long-standing bugs on PCs that Adobe has never been able to fix. I'm on a Mac, and I do not try to scan through Acrobat for different reasons. Nonetheless, I suggest you try doing what I do and see if that approach works for you. [Consider this the "I want to get the job done" approach as opposed to "This is how it's supposed to work, and I'm going to take all day to make sure it's working the way it's supposed to.]
Use the software that comes with your scanner. Since I have no idea what make or model it is, I can't be specific with what to do, but have your scanned pages left in a convenient folder. Always scan documents in the TIF format. What you'll see in that folder is something like scan.tif, scan(2).tif, scan(2).tif. etc.
Next open all of these files with Acrobat and you'll get a message asking if you want to create one document or many (individual) documents. (You choose).
If you save all of the documents into the TIF format, Acrobat will then automatically OCR them. If you save them as JPG or PNG, it will convert the document into a PDF but will not automatically OCR them. If you saved the document as TIF, it will.
One other issue: your first page (scan.tif) will show up as the last page of the document because, alphabetically, it will show up after all of the other documents. You can either manually drag this to the front in 'Organize Pages," or you can rename it before you start by renaming it scan(1).tif
Admittedly, this involves more steps than you'd do otherwise, but you'll complete it much faster because Adobe doesn't know how to fix this.
Lastly, here's a blog I wrote for Adobe a number of years ago, it might give you some ideas for scanning.

Good luck!

I'm seeing this question 2 years after it was posed. To delete photos from your mac computer from inside any collection or search in LRC, press and hold Shift / Option / Command and press the delete key (the one that eats from right to left) and it will delete the photo from lightroom but also from the disk - actual "gone gone."

Hi @Hansenphoto, yes you can, but there are minor conditions.
The catch here is that you need to arrange your Workspaces. My essential workspace is "Gary's Workspace," and I've always had that at the front of the list. What you need to do, though, is to arrange your two (or more) desired Workspaces in order for at least the first five.
To do this, go to the end of the workspace list and look for Edit Workspaces
Once there, you can change the order by dragging them up or down. Look for the blue line because that's where the workspace will land. Below, I'm moving the Metadata Workspace to below Output.
Lastly, open up the Keyboard Shortcuts near the bottom of the Edit menu.
In the bottom region, on the left, you'll see an area where you can select the thing you wish to change the key command or create one. You'll see that there is no Workspace names here, only by their order of appearance; hence the need to make sure the order is the one you want.
You will see that the basic intended key commands are set to Fn keys. I do not like dealing with Fn keys, so I changed them to "Shift-Command-Option-1." To do this, I clicked on the default , and that highlights that command and displays an "x" adjacent to the command. If you click on the "x," you will delete the command. If this closes up, just click in the region, and you'll see the blue/black highlight, but it will be empty. Enter the key command you want and then proceed to any others.
Now, close the window and you're done.
Let me know if this works for you or not, or if you have any other questions.

Came here with the same issue -- Massive file sizes that cannot be reduced in acrobat. I only use bridge to create contact sheets and browse images quickly (it had one job!). After reading a lot of comments, I went to Creative Cloud and installed Bridge version 14.0. Problem solved and fine for me to never update again since I don't use any other features!

If there are scripts out there, why haven't these been incorporated into the program by now??? Flipping horizontal or vertical is critical to my work, and clients don't have the budget to run thru Lightroom just for a horizontal flip. (Lightroom has too much file overhead for such a simple job.) You can rotate all day long in Lightroom and it changes the metadata in the photo by default. Why can't we flip?

Schutt be easier to read if you prefer Dark Mode. I sink it's out of order because of AI. Or because of the Legacy thing I used because of the export. Hi, @ESSAAR; you are jumping into a thread that is over a year old and introducing issues with which I have no knowledge of what you're talking about.
If you've already talked to Adobe and have been told that you require Asian language fonts and that the original author/owners have permitted you to make alterations in a PDF, then there's not much else I can add.
Earlier in this thread, I listed a blog post I wrote about getting as good a quality scan as possible. I suggest you read that. Also, be aware that even the best quality scan will NOT make converting an entire document into editable text easy for subsequent editing, and certainly not extensive editing. I have no idea how mixing Asian fonts into the mix will work. I've only worked with the English language and standard fonts.
All the best of luck!

Fortunately, all other Adobe products do not automatically update you to an incompatible version. I am alright on cpu, ram and disk space, but not of course on the windows version. Don't get me started on why it would take me 14 days continuous work to clean install windows 11 and all applications.

Your replies remind me of a TV commercial from the 80s where a guy wants to know how much for a duck call and the clerk keeps asking questions like "Do you want that giftwrapped or are you doing to take it with you?" Let me help you overcome your commically frustrating obstinence in this case, however. The US Patent and Trademark office will reject your submission if it includes a gray scale document. Hope that helps - after 31 years of arrogance.

I've had multiple problems with entire pages of text disappearing when running the OCR Recognize text function on a PDF document. I recently had a problem again, and in order to restore it to it's original state, I backed out of the PDF itself. Then I right clicked on the PDF file name, chose "Restore to Previous Version" and restored it to the date I originally created/downloaded/saved the PDF. This restored all of the text that had been erased (thank goodness!). I then went back into the PDF, went to Print, then print to "Adobe PDF", which creates another PDF copy of it, which I then saved. Then that saved version I just made could then be scanned with OCR Text Recognition with no problems and no erasing data.
