Yes that's just what I did and no it didn't work. I then tried a preference reset abd that didn't work either. I've gone back to the previous version until this problem is fixed

Interested that you can download individually from inside the apps - when I tried that with InDesign, it just took me to a web page telling me what is new in the product, as a sort of reminder of what I am missing! I finally got Creative Cloud to work but it won't download apps unless I turn off my anti-virus, which is Bit Defender. Strangely I'm not very willing to do this. Surely some time Adobe has to address this. Do you suppose they ever read the forums? If they are reading this - then please sort the problem.

I am still having this problem. I overcame it with the last update by turning off Bit Defender (scary and a totally unreasonable thing to expect customers to do) and by using the Elements page workaround to make the installation zip files download. However, that is an old version of Creative Cloud that is listed in the links above, so the first thing it asks me to do is to update the application again. I am currently sitting watching that update window freeze as it approaches 6%, after which I know full well that it will tell me error 207 and the server is having problems. This does not happen on my other computer, which is also running Windows 8.1 and which is on the identical network, with the identical anti virus etc. It only happens on my main desktop. Very clearly this is not an issue with my network, or with the networks of others complaining in this and other forum threads. It is abundantly clear that this is an Adobe Problem, plain and simple. It needs to be (1) acknowledge and (2) fixed. Oh, and an apology wouldn't go amiss either. Meanwhile, has anyone else found an answer to this problem please? I am now having big problems because my two systems are out of sync and I can't exchange files between them.

I have created a websuite in Dreamweaver, configured the servers to BC and uploaded all the files. My index.html file is replaced by some generic lorem ipsum page, and even if I rename that and re-upload my own index file, the old one comes back. I have launched the site but still the same. What am I doing wrong?

I just wanted to reply that yes, someone else does have frustrations like yours and I have no idea why Adobe makes finding information so difficult!! I keep uploading my site's index.html file and it just gets overwritten by some lorem ipsum default webpage stuff. But you don't want to know about my troubles! I was hoping to see an answer to your questions here, but apparently there are none. Good luck.

Have you had any luck with sorting this? I have just encountered this problem for the first time and I see there is over a year's history of the problem with no proper solution (other than to disable virus protection which is clearly not an option I'm about to follow!!). It seems as if Adobe is trying to lay the blame for this problem on the users although it is quite obviously at their end.

Wow! Many thanks for all that excellent advice. I have indeed seen the excellent video. I've used Calibre but not ADE, so I'll try that. You obviously have a lot more knowledge of css than I do - I am also on a very steep learning curve here. I have, however, already done what you (and the video) suggest in using styles for everything and assembling a book from separate chapters (that's slowed down my work-flow very effectively!) Everything works well except for the new page for a chapter in CS4, despite using the TOC idea. In CS5 it works fine and I get a new page for each chapter. I have compared the output files and see that CS5 also creates about ten files per chapter, whereas CS4 creates just a single file per chapter. CS5 also includes a fonts list. Although I don't think the changes for CS5 are truly significant, it may be that the reduced amount of work I need to do for each book could make it worthwhile upgrading. (I have to convert nearly 50 books in the next couple of months). I will, however, try out some more of your suggestions before committing myself and I'm really grateful for your help Frances

Hi - thanks for that - but I have now managed to edit the files (just changed a header statement) and get them back into the zipped format, but the book looks complete rubbish! I'm experimenting with a trial copy of InDesign CS5, seeing how it handles the headers to allow new pages for each chapter, and then reproducing that (simple) code. But it seems to impact everything else too - no page breaks still, and huge fonts that don't resize. I guess I'm going to have to break out my life savings and upgrade to CS5. Frances

Hope with your new expertise you might be able to help me I'm trying to edit the xhtml files that are output from InDesign CS4 as an epub. I've extracted them as archive files, used DreamWeaver to edit the xhtml and then re-archived them (I use WinRAR) and re-named the archive with the .epub suffix. The eReader can't open this file, since it says it's corrupt. I don't see how else to edit the files - any clues what I'm doing wrong please? Frances
