When changing label or name of a clip on the timeline, all clips from that source clip change name and/or color. not just the individual clip on the timeline. Anybody else seeing this? version 22.6.2. see attached screen recording

Thx for the pic. That look would not be done in AE. It's more of a design / visual effect best done in photoshop in my opinion. It's quite organic. You could use the smudge tool to soften white lines. Attached si a rough one I made in 10 minutes in PS.

Hi Can you post a screenshot so we can see visually what you are trying to do? FTI, there are opacity settings for masks that you can animate to reveal things, or you can precomp a mask and its masked layer. Thx, Steve

HI Make sure the layer to be replaced is selected before using alt-click rto drag the new image onto the layer. Otherwise it just makes a new layer. Hope this helps, Steve

Hi. What effect are you asking about? Since it's a still image, we don't know what animation effect you moight be talking about. Let us know a bit more detail and we'd be glad to help out. Thx, Steve

Hi Unfortunately AE doesn't really take advatntage of multiple CPU cores. The processor speed is the main driver of perofrmabce, along with having a decent GPU (if you are using GPU based effects). It also greatly helps to have an SSD for cache. Hope this helps, Steve

Hi, Thanks for seeking out some help. If your video has movement in it, then there are only a couple of options. One is obviously to use AE. You could create a simple precomp containing the picture so that the user would only have to replace the picture and maybe resize teh image in the comp to match the previous image. Then render out the comp. You can even avoid rendering by using dynamic linking so that teh AE comp used in PrP updates automatically. Hope this helps, Steve

Remember that you can use the transform effect independently of the native position, scale, and rotation parameters. This mught give you some options that don't mess up your layer connectivity.

Is your text made in the legacy text tool or the new text tool? The new text tool requires you to pick the T icon form the toolbar and then you can double click on teh text to edit. Steve

Pretty easy to do. You just need to create a mask for your arm for the top layer. Then create a mask for your lower layer to transition out underneath your arm revealing the new content. It's done a lot easier in After Effects though. Steve

Your best bet is to import the native AI file into AE. But, like mentioned, some of the blending modes won't come in correctly but that's easily dealt with in AE. Steve

If you export at a different size ut use the same bitrate, which is the amount of data per second, then the file size will be the same. When you lower the frame size, also lower the bitrate. Using the output presets provided by Adobe under H.264 always works well. Hope this helps, Steve

I would buy the fastest clock speed you can get along with a fair amount of cores (8 minimum). Clock speeds generally go down as you add more cores. If I was building a Prp and AE systems, the Ryzen 7 3800 looks like a great deal Ryzenâ„¢ 7 Processors | AMD

Good question! First off, After Effects currently is all about clock speed on a single chip. GPU plays a part in some operations but most of AE is single core CPU driven. Nothing on AE is multiprocessor aware. PremierePro can definitely gain from multiple processors and higher clock speeds. I would certainly look at AMD Ryzen CPUs. The cost to performance ratio is much better. Steve

The easiest way I can think of is: - Create two layers, one with your binary text (animated if needed) and then create a layer of your final text. Your text layers will need to be monospaced font to avoid the binary numbers jumping around or not matching the final characters. - use an animated mask to reveal each letter of the final text while hiding the binary character. This movement of the mask needs to be hold keyframes s that partial characters aren't revealed between keyframes. Hope this helps, Steve

When you are in icon view, there is a sort pull down menu at the bottom of the bin window. When you re in list view, you can click on a column name to sort by that info (name, date, etc.). You can add more columns by right clicking on the column name and going to metadata display. In that are you can choose to see a ton of different column types. Creation or modified date is under the basic set (see second screen grab) Steve

Hi I'm not sure by your post where you are generating the animation. But if you plan on possibly slowing it down, you should render at a higher frame rate like 24. This way there are extra fames when you slow down a clip on the timeline. If you render something at 12fps, any slower than 100% means that frames have to be invented by PrP. Steve

When you are ready to edit. One easy way to ensure good settings that match your footage is to drag a clip from your project window onto the new item icon at the bottom fo the project window. This will make a sequence with settings that match your footage (assuming that's what you want in most situations). Then simply delete the clip from the sequence and start editing. When ready to output, use the presets (like YouTube 1080). They are very handy and easy to use. Hope this helps Steve

Sure. You can set the work area in point to where your timeline curser is at by hitting the B key. The end of the work area can be set with the N key. You can left click on the work area to get options like "trim to work area". One big shortcut combo you need to know is IBON. Select a layer and hit those keys (one at a time) and your work area will be set to the length of the layer content. Hope this helps, Steve
