Every time I update Photoshop it refuses to open. And everytime I try a lot of things, and finally - ofte after 2-3 hours - I manage to get it working again. I use a little special setup, wich might be the issue. I am on a fast new ASUS i7 Laptop, with a RTX4050 Nvidia GPU with 32 GB RAM, SSD HDD, latest drivers and Windows 11 etc. All Adobe software runs smoothly on this machine - exceot Photoshop will not start at all. It just thinmks a little for 2-4 secs and stops. In jobmanager it shows that Photoshop is loaded, but also a Adobe Crash Processor. If I try start Photoshop fx 3 times after each other all three shows up in jobmanager. Its just hanging/crashing and nothing happens. At all! I use two external monitors - besides the laptops own - so 3 monitors in all. I first managed to solve the issue by forcing Photoshop to use the Nvidia GPU. I have also solved it sometimes by run as Administrator or making it start in compatible mode etc. I havew tried disconmnecting external monitors etc. But it´s not working anymore as a single solution. When I manage to get it up working again it´s often after trying a bunch of different things - and even though I have tried noting what helped and what not, it seems to be very hard to tell what really did the trick. I really would like to find out what the H... is going on, as I use so much time everytime I have updated Photoshop, to get it up running again. AN when it gets up running - its stable and theres is no issues before next update. ANd I want to have keep my software (that Ive paid for) updated. Any clues?

Seems I have solved this issue by pressing ALT key during startup and then select Reset app preferences, Clear media Cache files, Reset plugin loading Cache and hit continue. After that it played back much better. Even at full resolution and with LUT. Furthermore I moved my data-files to another and faster disk, which made playback even a bit more smoother. Hope this solved the issue completely and might help somone else.

I have had similair problems during the years. Try the following: 1. Test your system load: hist CTRL+ALT+DELETE and watch the CPU, Harddrive, RAM. GPU load during playback. Does it peak out in any of these? 2. Test your harddrive speed - if it can´t read or write at at least 150-200 MB/S you may have a problem. Use SSD disks for the data and cache if possible. Things to try: 1. Delete your media cache files (Edit>Preferences>Media Cache) - This can also be done 2. Try adjusting the playback resolution to 1/4 or 1/2 3. During start up pres ALT key - select Reset app preferences, Clear media Cache files, Reset plugin loading Cache and hit continue. This solved my issues once. 4. Check if all drivers are up to date.

I have issues with lag and stuttering playing back material shot on a Sony A7SIIi in 4K 50p 200mbs 10-bit 4:2:2 S-log3 on both a 1080 and 4K timeline. It starts playing back ok, but after 5-10 seconds it begins to lag heavily. 25p material same specs plays back like butter. I have tried everything: playback resolution, LUTs and effects off, disabled and enabled everything. Reinstall, downgrade to version 23.0, downgraded Nvidia driver etc with no luck. The weird thing is that my system ia not at work at all. CPU:25-30 %, Harddrive: 10-20%, RAM: 10-20%, GPU:15-40 %. Nothing even close to peaking. My system: i7-9950 3,3Mhz, 128 GB ram, 3060TI 8GB, SSD disks, windows 11. Everything updated and optimized. Is it because premiere pro still does not support hardware 264/265 HEVC 10-but 4:2:2

I experience the same issue... with a i7-930 128GB RAM, Nvidia 3060 Ti 8GB, SSDs. Untill recently I could playback 4K 4:2:2 in V-log or S-log with no issues. After updating to latest version it lags a lot and makes it impossible to edit. My CPU is at 30 % during playback, and my GPU 40 % and only uses about 25 GB RAM...the disks are optimized and works well. So whats the issue? I have tried disabling Antivirus and all effetcs etc. So tired of Premiere Pro having these issues from time to time...

This is a big issue...maxing out my 64 GB RAM everytime just to create some thumbnails. There must be a way to solve this - and please do it fast Adobe...this has been an issue for quite some time now. First I thought it was me or my machine, but its not - its PPro, thats so insanely slow to generate these simple thumbnails.

I am a big idiot...I just realised, that Filmimpact makes installers for their transitionspacks. So I just had to download these and install. It was so long ago I had updated the packages, so I forgot how it worked. I thought it had to be installed through the extension manager...sorry for any inconvienece - I owe you all a free beer 😉

Thank you for your help 🙂 I can not even acces the Extension button - its greyed out. So I can not install any extension directly from Premiere - only through Exchange - but the Filmimpact plugins are downloadable plugins that neesd to be installed through the Windows>Extension option in the menu inside Premiere Pro. Take a look at the image I attached in the first post - as you can see Extension is totally greyed out an not possible to acces at all. And its the same on both my Desktop and my Laptop. I did remove the 2019 because I had tried out 2020 but did not try the Extensions - so I regret not maintaing my old versions.

I found a solution. THE SOLUTION Suddenly it came into my mind - that the job I tried to export in PPro 2017 was made a few weeks ago in PPpro 2016. And I had used some customized Lumetri-effects that I had made as user-presets, Just made some minor changes afterwards. I always use a layer for the Lumetri-effect and does not place it directly on the clips. So I started deleting these user-preset Lumetri-effects from the layer and just replaced them with new Lumetri Color (from Video effects>Color Correction > Lumetri Color) on the layer. Afterwards I changed all the settings to about the same as before as in my old presets. AND IT ALL WORKED. I can now export with no issues.Same LUTs and same settings... So if you experience these issues - maybe try to delete your lumetri color effects on your clips and make new ones inside the version of Premiere you use...It might be the solution. It worked for me... And for the record - my Videocard is an oooolldddd - ASUS GTX 570 - but it still works OK. I can playvack 4K in full resolution with Lumetri effects 😉 I work with 4K files (from my GH4) but on a 1080 timeline. The Export settings was just the standard Youtube H254 - but I always turn of the "Use maximunm Render Quality!" because it often makes errors as well during export. Hope this will be of some help for some of you...I too have used a lot of time trying to solve this issue for the past few years..so I tottaly understand how frustrating it is not being able to export in Premiere - especially if you are close to a deadline... Cheers /Morten

Has the latest 2017 update solved any of these issues? Mine came back after updating, so be carefull... Mine was initially solved by going back to an older driver. But the latest 2017 update does demand latest driver...so I did install latest driver and crossed my fingers, and hoped Adobe had solved this old but very irritatiing issue, but no - the issue came back. Error Compiling, can not redner frames etc.... What is the oldest driver the new 2017 update wanna play with? The 354 is not enough it seems....

Hi I have struggled with render issues since CC2014. I managed to get rid of it after installing an older driver for my Graphics card. It still sometimes went black during playback or when rendering, but it mostly would be solved after restating PPro. I just updated to 2017 and it required that I updated my Nvidia driver. It looks good - can playback in full without issues - even with Lumertri on, but if I try to export/render it crashes. Error compiling movie - GPU Render Error - Unable to process frame. I know my GTX570 is not the latest card, but it still works and have worked nice untill this update. Anyone having the same issue with newer cards? Anyone having a solution for this very irrtating issue, that has yet to be solved once and for all by Adobe... Maybe I will install the RAM upgrade before the HDD...that depends. I have a powerfull desktop PC at my homeoffce and I think i will continue to use that for most of my video-editing, but I just want to be able to edit video to some degree at the out-house office as well. I will be using the ASUS mostly for indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and stuff like that. i can´t wait to get my hands on this laptop 😉 Thx a lot 🙂 Morten

It sounds like this is the laptop fo me 🙂 I have been reading a lot of reviews now and a lot of them mention the low noise from the G751 - even during heavy load. I don´t think I can get a laptop with the same amazing specs for the same price. The Lenovo, MSI and others I have seen all have smaller SSDs, older Graphiccards etc. So I will buy the G751 for sure... I will consider upgrading to 32 GB ram and maybe invest in an external HDD USB3 or Tunderbolt for data/archiving. Morten

HI Bill THank you for the quick reply.. I have read a few reviews of the Asus Rog today, and it seems to be the best choice right now. At least for me. So I am very glad to hear, that you have had so good experience with the Asus as well. My biggest concern is noise from the coolers, because I need to have a very lownoise laptop when I sit in the new office. The room is small and we need to work with some kind of noise reduction because the walls and floor is quite hard and kind of amplify all sounds in there 🙂 Another thing: the one I plan to buy gomes with 16 GB Ram (2 x 8) a 256 Gb SSD and a 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD. I might be able to live with this setup - at least for some time. i guess I could just put in another 16 Gb ram and change the HDD some day in the future when my needs eventually changes. SSDs comes in 1 TB now - could that be the way to go? Keep the 256 and change the 1 TB from HDD to SSD... I also read a bit more about Thunderbolt. Seems to me, that with fx. a LaCie extermal Thunderboltbased raid system I would be able to edit fluid 4K directly from the external disk??? The only thing I reslly dont like with theAsus Rog series is the gamer design. I can almost smell the rubber. i would rather have an aluminium/carbon cased monster instead. But I can live with that as long as the specs looks so good. Anyone else having any comments on the Asus? Please share 😉 / Morten

Hi I have a nice system at my homeoffice, but now I need a laptop too, for when I´m working at another office in town. I´m in a bit of a hurry, and have not catched up lately on all the new laptops and stuff, so I hope some of you guys will give it a try and help me with this one 😉 I allready have an 4 year old laptop with only 4 GB RAM and even though it did a reasonable job years ago in Photoshop CS4 etc. it really doesn´t work for anything else than Word and internetbrowsing anymore. So I need a laptop that will do nice, but not a 10.000$ workstation laptop... I mostly edit AVCHD files and nothing above 1080 50P, but who knows if I will not have to deal with 4K within a year. But the 4K is not a real dealbreaker - 1080 will be just fine for a while I guess, as I mostly edit videos for online use. Besides from Premiere I use Indesign, Photoshop. Illustrator and Lightroom a lot. As I ám going to be sitting in a small office with two other persons, I really need a laptop that does not make to much noise when idle or during normal use (like photoshop, etc.) I can live with a bit of noise when encoding/exporting video, but not while I am edditing in Premiere... I have thought about the ASUS ROG G751JT-T7018H - wich comes with 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD / 7200 rpm, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M - 3 GB GDDR5 and thunderbolt.... So the pricetag would about 2500 $ I guess - don´t want to spend more. Anyone having experiences with this laptop - especially concerning noiselevel? My questions is (and these question are general questions - not only concerning the the ASUS mentioned above): 1. Is 16 GB RAM sufficient - or will 32 make a huge difference? I did not see much improvements when I upgraded my desktop from 24 to 64 GB RAM... 2. Wich Geforce xxxM cards should be avoided - if any? Is the 970M supported? 3. Would it be better with one 1 TB SSD disk instead of 256 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD? Heat- and noisewise? 4. Think I read somewhere that an external disk (RAID) with Thunderbolt could speed up things - make editing smoother - any thought about the Thunderbolt? If you have any suggestions or experiences with running Adobe CC on any of the newer laptops from 2014/2015 please share them. Thx in advance - and sorry for the long post... Cheers

Hi ntreuter... I have the GTX 570 and a system a bit like you. (better CPU, twice as much RAM, RAID for data, SSD for system). I consider upgrading to the GTX 970 - mostly for better playback during editting. When playing back with fx. Magic Bullet Looks in PPro CC2014 I have to use 1/2 resolution for having almost fluid playback...Adding any other effects will make it stutter...My CPU is only on 10-15%, my disks 5-10 % so I guess it must be the GPU??? Do you have any experineces with your upgrade from 570 to 970 you would like to share? Good or bad? Is it better playing back, rendering etc or is it not worth the money? Hi I am also having these errors and I am almost certain that it makes my PC crash more often because of it. I run Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and have the Adobe Master Collection CS5 installed. Everytime I use Premiere Pro CS5 after 10-15 minutes my PC freezes and I have to wait for 5-10 minutes for it to get back to normal again. Everytime I have these SideBySide errors just before it happens. At the beginning it was mostly the one with Acrobat9 but I managed to use a solution from Technet removing the dependecy of 32 bit - using Resource Tuner. But then I got a new issue - this time it was with the Adobe Media Encoder CS5 and the file PhotoShopServer.exe. - System - Provider [ Name] SideBySide - EventID 75 [ Qualifiers] 49409 Level 2 Task 0 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2010-11-10T20:30:51.000000000Z EventRecordID 32348 Channel Application Computer MP-PC Security - EventData C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5\PhotoshopServer.exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5\PhotoshopServer.exe 2 This time I can not use Resrouce Tuner because it will not open 64 bit executables at all. So I´m stucked here. It seems to be an old issue from way back. Adobe please do something about this - I am sick of issues using Premiere Pro CS5 - the transition issue with two identical AVCHD subclips from same sequence is also not yet solved. I love Adobe Master Collection and the GUI - but PPro CS5 is not a usefull production tool if one has to use a lot of time getting things done that should have been done in 1/10 of the time.

OK - but RAID0 with 4 drivesor what? And then put media on one stripe (Disk1+Disk2) and scratch (on Disk3+1Disk4) or what? What about your OS? I have two disks - Disk one is partiotioned in two (drive C and D) - OS is on C, programmes on D. Disk two is only one big partition with only DATA - like videofiles etc. I defrag often. Are there any way I could take backup of these drives (I have a 4 TB Bufalos NAS server) and then install RAID whatever - and then restore everything again somehow or will that be a bad idea. I could restore C and D. If I make a RAID0 with fours disks - every disk on 1,5 TB will I have: 1. 3 TB all in all? 2. Have to have exactly same disks or is it OK to keep my two existing disks and then buy two others - making stripes of those matching? What is best practice? Morten

Hi Yes I know - but I have had very bad epxeriences with RAID a few years ago. But maybe it is time to go for it once more. What would you suggest me to do? My MOBO supports RAID in different ways - do you think thats OK or do I have to buy a new RAID controller? I do not understand fully how I should do - I have two disks allready - pretty quick and low-noise. Harm tells me they are too hot - so I might put in a fan or two (low-noise) - but could I make a backup of my entire system - setup system for RAID 0 with my two existing disks and then copy everything back - or is it better to iinstall additional disk (how many) and start allover again (haven´t got much time - having busy in my company and two small kids (4 years and 5 month) at the same time) - so time is valuable - but I just wanna know how much time I would have to spend on this so I can plan to do it at a better time in near future...But RAID 0 is quite risky - isn´t it? I can see my MOBO supports the fowllowing (from specs of my MOBO): South Bridge: 6 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors (SATA2_0, SATA2_1, SATA2_2, SATA2_3, SATA2_4, SATA2_5) supporting up to 6 SATA 3Gb/s devices Support for SATA RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10 GIGABYTE SATA2 chip: 1 x IDE connector supporting ATA-133/100/66/33 and up to 2 IDE devices 2x SATA 3Gb/s connectors (GSATA2_0, GSATA2_1) supporting up to 2 SATA 3Gb/s devices Support for SATA RAID 0, RAID 1 and JBOD You mention overclocking a bit - I have a i920 running 2.8 Ghz - I have overclcked it once to 3,3 and it was stable, but did not give much performance. But overclocking RAM might be usefull...My BIOAS tells me it runs 1033 but SPECCY shows this: Slot #1 Type DDR3 Size 2048 MBytes Manufacturer Kingston Max bandwidth PC3-10700 (667 MHz) Part number 9905403-011.A02LF Serial number 7EFACC96 Week/year 13 / 09 SPD Ext. Hi again Maybe there is some difference in encoding speed? I do not know - and don´t have the time to test it...reinstalling the old card. But I guess I will put the ols GTX 260 into my "old" (1½ year) Qaud CPU 6700 machine and install CS5 on this as second spare PC if this one fails and do the "hack" so I have two machines running OK if needed. Actually this makes me a bit more satisfied having bought the FX3800 - because I now have two machines capable of editting AVCHD. Might be nice if something goes wrong or I need rendering a lot and then can free up the other PC for different jobs.

Hi Chris I hope there will be some difference - but using the "hack" (changing one line in a text-file in PPro directory) made my GTX 260 playing back excactly as good as FX3800. I can not see any difference - where the GTX 260 had problems the FX3800 also did (4 layers fx) etc. But maybe I do not have setup the carsd right? It is latest nvidia driver etc. I have tried to overclock my system a few weeks ago and it did not make any difference in speed at all - so I just went back to normal. Playing back is much better in CS5 now - no doubt - I enjoy smooth playback with multiple layers AVCHD in 720 50P - scrubbing not so smooth. Accellerated effects OK - not accellerated makes clips stutter in playback. This goes for both cards....if I remove GTX 260 in textfile I get software playback wich is awfull. Here is my system - note I have two monitors: Operating System MS Windows 7 64-bit CPU Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz 47 °C Bloomfield 45nm Technology RAM 12.0GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 531MHz 7-7-7-20 (1033 Mhz) Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Hi I can now confirm that FX3800 (wich I have just installed) and a GTX 260 (with the modificated txt-file as described elsewhere in this forum) - are performing equal in playback. I can not see any difference in speed or performance playing back. Have not tested encoding speed - and will not either - don´t wanna install the old GTX once agian. The AVCHD clips i had problems playing with the GTX 260 does have the same issues with the FX3800. But I have found out that the main reassons are: 1) using non-accelerated effetcs like Shadow/Highlight 2) The AVCHD issue with CS4/CS5 - that one can not use the same clip twice adjacent to each other. Fx if you take a movieclip and make two clips out of it and put them togehter at the timeline and use a Croos-dissolve between the two clips - you will experience stuttering and pausing in playback if you use AVCHD. THis issue has been reported to Adobe! So waste of money? Maybee - but at least I now have a card that has been tested and is officially suppoorted by Adobe/Nvidia. My FX3800 is from PNY and there are as I recall only this manufacterer - when my GTX is from Inno3D - and there are lots of dirfferent manufacturers. Meaning the FX3800 is more Pro in the way it is allways made by the same company - and not as the GTX made by several.that might user different parts in the production that may vary and give different results - and might even cause issues? BEsides the FX3800 has been heavely tested by Adobe to meet the requirements - so they say... So - all in all - I hope I made a good choice here.Hoping for Adobe to give even more advantages in near future to us that has invested in supported Nvidia cards. /Morten
