Hello there, Since some people still appear to have the issue, I wanted to leave my solution on here, as it might help someone. Mac user here. I too was having issues when importing these "jpegs" into After Effects and Photoshop, and wasn't able to convert them to other image formats neither But since it worked on the Finder, I tried opening them up directly with the Preview, hit Export, choose another file format, and lo and behold - it worked! I just ran into this issue with the clone tool. I closed the brushes panel and opened it again and I was able to change the brush size. This should be such a simple fix since it's clearly UI based. Adobe needs to address this, but in the meantime try just closing and opening the brush panel. (Ctrl+9) ... View more

This is what is happening with me, and it looks like the same problem on here. I use Ae 22 on a macbook currently and whenever I try to open the effects tab, as you can see, it glitches out and mutliplies itself. I have tried to reset the control panel to saved layout, restart ae, restart my computer, purge cache, etc. but nothing seems to work. I have also tried moving the presets/deleting them as said in this passage but that didn't do anything as well. There's only this so tedious but effective work-around to retrieve those parameters you set on the Particular version you spent time on. In order to get out of the loop of crashes caused by a Particular update you can do this: After the crash, restart AE / Menu Effects/Manage Effetcs / On the list, search for Particular/ deactivate. Restart AE/ Open your  project/ click Ok on the warning that says you dont have Particular, it's ok / Go to the layer where you put Particular effect on/ There you have those parameters you put in your older project. Make screenshots displaying all the settings you want, or copy to a paper. / When restarting turn on Particular via Menu/Manage Effects (you always have to restart AE to make this change take place/ Open your project /Select the layer with the effect/Delete the old Particular and apply a new one/put those parameters you have to the new one. ... Yes, you can do this in AE with Element 3D.  - Make two solids and put a Gradient Ramp on each.  - Set top solid to Add blending mode.  - For the top layer, the gradient ramp goes left to right and is the red channel.  - For the bottom layer, it goes top to bottom, this is the green channel.  - The blue channel doesn't matter, as long as its consistently set to either 0 or 1.  - Add Expressions as pictured below.   - Precomp this, I call it STMAP. - Add Element 3D to a solid, Add STMAP as a Custom texture map - In E3D, add 3D model. I encountered the same problem, the shortcuts are panel based as opposed to it being global, at least that's what I think. I mean it activates on the panel being selected. The most basic shortcut in my opinion is this (being able to jump prev or next on keyframes) while being maximized in the program control.
