If you want to have text with this triangle shape, first create dots, Expand Appearance and Image Trace them: Ungroup the dots, create a triangle and then use a replacement script, like Monika suggested or this one: Replace items script: https://github.com/alexander-ladygin/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/replaceItems.jsx

Good to hear that worked. GPU preview is fast but often inaccurate. Ilike the speed, but in doubt I switch temporarely to CPU. That is what is used on export and printing.

Another approach with a 2 color gradient across a single stroke: Color changes are best done with Recolor Artwork, which will automatically create a new 2 color gradient.

Why? Maybe because most Illustrator users didn't attend school or didn't pay attention during math classes. I can confirm the change. When dragging on the AI app icon, previous versions just placed the file on an artboard with the last created (and saved) size. Now it creates an artboard that has the dimensions of the image. If you want something like the previous versions, create a new file and drag the image onto it. I don't have that problem anymore, but in the past I had to turn off "Enable Missing Glyph Protection" in Preferences > Type to get the scrolling to work.

There are a lot of limitations with Create Swatch Info. Fitting swatches on a page is one of them. Unforunately Spot colors are converted to their CMYK equivalents. But even if they would be spots, there is a limit to 27 spot colors in a document.
