Years after users complained, these pop up windows are here to stay. They won't go away after being dismissed many times. They always pop back up again with different things users can learn more--stopping users from working on projects, disrupting workflows, and increasing blood pressure. Way to go Adobe. 😞

wanted to add an Information. German Keyboard. MacOS. I can use the "Brush Toggle Erase"-shortcut. But only when asigning it to any other key than "<". The "<"-key, is assigned to "first brush". When I unassign the "first brush" in the KBSC, it is still assigned. Even when i assign any other key for "first brush", it is still assigned to the "<"-key. When assigning the "Brush Toggle Erase" to the "<"-key, u can erase with your brush, but when letting go of the "<"-key, it goes to first brush. Always. A pitty, because the "<"-key is right, where you have your left hand when painting in PS. But this key is hardcoded to "first brush". But still a big upgrade to be able to erase with your brush

@SinCr0w If unplugging your tablet resolves the issue, it could be a conflict with that tablet's drivers and updates with PS and the OS. Unfortunately PS doesn't officially support XPen. You might try using WinTab and see if that works (assuming your on a Win machine): https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/enable-optional-extensions-photoshop-cc.html#turn_off_system_stylus

GPU stops the crash: that's fix one.
Gray is a different issue.
Try the "Deactivate Native Canvas" options in preferences, and restart: is the grey gone?
On Windows, In Windows display settings > Windows HD color, make sure that HDR is not on!

I have decided, due to my upcoming work, not to do any more tests and trips on updates at the moment. MacOS 13 itself had problems on my Mac Pro. It often told me it couldn't open files and then crashed photoshop.... https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254482603?login=true it is probably as apple itself writes to ventura: That Ventura is optimized for apple silicon. And the rest has just bad luck. Anyway, I'm now back on Monterey, all files I can open and the for me stable version 23 of Photoshop is great. I will not update anything more for now, because you always run the risk of interrupting your complete workflow so much that it takes away the joy of having new features. Then rather what just works.

Perhaps try resetting Photoshop preferences?
(read this entire post before acting please)
Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes.
If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.
Here’s some info on how to do that:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html
Manually removing preferences files is the most complete method for restoring Photoshop to its default state:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Note re macOS: The user Library folder is hidden by default.
To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see here for how to access hidden user library files.
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
Unexpected behavior may indicate damaged preferences. Restoring preferences to their default settings is a good idea when trying to troubleshoot unexpected behaviors in Photoshop. check out the video
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences
Learn how to access and modify Photoshop preferences and customize per your frequent workflows
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html
And here’s an earlier forum discussion as an aid to understanding
https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/quick-tips-how-to-reset-photoshop-preferences/td-p/12502668
You may want to backup your settings and custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.
Here is general info about that: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences
Before you reset your preferences
in case of future issues, I suggest you make a copy as Adobe may need one to check problematic references.
Quit Photoshop. Go to Photoshop's Preferences folder
Preferences file locations: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html\
[on MacOS see: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings Note for those on macOS: - be aware that the user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS.
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
In the Finder, open the “Go” menu whilst holding down the Option (Alt) key.
Library will now appear in the list - below the current user's “home” directory. ]
Now you can drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe as a back-up of your settings.
Note for those on macOS:
Preference preservation is affected by macOS permissions,
you’ll need to allow Photoshop ‘Full Disk Access’ in your Mac OS Preferences/Security and Privacy
It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.
It’s recommended that you use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.
(See above about preserving preferences though! Its worth preserving them unless they are corrupted.)
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Uninstall Photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.
Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.
I hope this helps

Why are my 3D options not working? I have all the necessary hardware and software setting
Hi Jamison,
This is being driven by changes in macOS and Windows OS, as explained in this Help page from Adobe:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/3d-faq.html#using-latest-and-discontinued-features
"For a short time, a Technology Preview preference can be used to emulate the last known working state for 3D features. Go to Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews and check the box “Deactivate Native Canvas”, and restart Photoshop. Note that this operating mode is increasingly unreliable in modern operating systems, and we recommend using Photoshop version 22.2 (from February 2021) if you need more stable performance with Photoshop’s 3D features. "

I absolutely hear what you're saying, and I agree. This shouldn't be a problem.
I'm merely pointing out that since it still is, it can't be as simple as we think. Adobe are fully aware of it and have been for a long time, and their engineers are not stupid. If it was easily fixable, they'd have done it long ago.
It wouldn't be the first time that Photoshop required special operating system support that most other applications didn't (4K anyone?)

OMG OMG. This has been fixed!!!! I can't say what version it was addressed in but can confirm that in version 22.4.3 on MacOS when the PS prompt says its going to save over the file, it does in fact save over the file and does NOT make a copy version. Almost made it to the two year mark with out being fixed but HOPEFULLY this bug never comes back (seeing as how Monterey is just around the corner)

I couldn't even open Photoshop 21.1.2 on Catalina. The second it opened, it would crash. Over and over and over again. I down-graded Photoshop to 20.0.9 and so far no issues. Pretty annoying though - wasted two hours of my day! Adobe should pay me... my rate is $350/hr!

Sound like my problem. But i'm using the pathtool for an hour. Good that I'm not alone with it, bad that there doesn't seem to be a real solution for weeks unless you go back a few versions (PS2019). So it's more the program itself than the operating system. I have also worked with competing products (Pix... & Aff...) and both of them are not frozen. But no agency standard yet. Here are my reports on it from an "f...." expensive Mac Pro from work. On a clean install... just to make sure 🙂 So there are no damaged prefs or so. (I erase my hole workstation... just because of photoshop2020) https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-21-1-2-freezing-on-catalina-10-15-4-on-macpro2019 https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/photoshop-21-1-2-freezing-on-catalina-10-15-4-system-freezing/m-p/11103362?page=1#M327997
