UPDATE: I tried the same file on my laptop (M1 Macbook, 64G RAM, OS 14.5, PS 25.0) and had the same issue. I installed PS 22.1 on my desktop and was able to succesfully resize the image. So it's definitely a PS issue. Thanks again for your help Brett! ... View more

Hey Brett - I understand your hypothesis that my Mac is losing patience when moving around a lot of data - the files are very big, after all. Hey, Brett. Thanks again for the time and the suggestions.  To answer your questions: -Yes I am throwing around a lot of pixels. I'm reducing from 11,000 wide to 2500 with layered files BUT the crash happens after I type 2500 into the width, then tab to height. In other words, I'm not applying the resize before the crash/hang happens -Sometimes this makes PS crash, but sometimes it does not -Do you think that progressively reducing size might work? Thanks, Brett. How would I send the report? Copy and paste from the dialog box? Could this be an issue with faulty memory on the comptuer? I didn't suspect that because no other apps crash (or hang) and it happens in Photoshop when I do a single specific thing - when working with large PSB files I open the Image Size dialog box, enter 2500 for width, then hit tab. Thanks so much Brett. System report is below. You may be right about memory - I have 192G installed, and have an 8T internal SSD with about 1.5T available, but am working with 20-30G files. Crashes occur when I enter a number in the image size dialog box. I'll put in a number, usually 2500, for width in pixels. After I hit tab to get to next box, PS crashes. I don't think I'm using another email. I'll try to screen capture the crash report dialog box next time it happens.   What can you tell us about the files you are working with other than they are PSB? How many layers? Probably 20-30 What are the pixel dimensions (when you start, before trying to change Image Size)? 11000 What is the size of the file on disk? 20-40G What is the file size once it has been opened?  Are you talking about the size next to the magnification size in the lower left-hand corner of the window? for the file I have open currently, it says Doc: 582/13.8G. Hey, Brett - so PS just crashed again. I'm running 26.2.1. It did ask about sending a report to Adobe, which I did. I also saw a mac OS report option, but it disappeared once I clicked send on the Adobe report. It crashed, as before, in the image resize dialog box. Thanks again for your help with this ... Usually, but not always I think. Generally when I see those dialog boxes I click submit. And yes, they are very large files, usually upwards of 10G. I s there a version of PS that would handle this better? I don't use any of the newer features so could use an earlier version if it meant fewer crashes ... View more

Hi Brett, thanks for the reply. It is an intermittant problem so I can't really say. I work almost exclusively with PSB files so every time it happens, it's saving a PSB. I do export jpegs from time to time, and it hasn't happened with them, but saving to jpeg is only about 5% of the saves so it might just be probability that it only crashes with PSB. ... View more

Hey everyone -  I'm on a 2019 Mac Pro, 12 core 3.3ghz xenon, 192G RAM, 8TB internal ssd in LR 13.5.1 At times, switching from image to image in loupe view is very slow (2-3sec, while other times it is instantaneous) and I get the message 'Loading...' at the bottom of the screen.   If I stop and do something else, then come back, it seems to be a bit faster.   I have 1:1 previews rendered for the images, and the catalog and previews are on the internal ssd.   Catalog is pretty big - 283,000 images. I have 1:1 previews rendered for only for the most recent images, but this is where the slowness occurrs. Is there a way to speed this up? Is it slow hardware? Or something in LR I can optimize?
