Accidentally marked "Assumed Answered"

I accidentally marked my question as "Assumed Answered".  How do get it changed back to "Not Answered" so that it will show the correct status?

Dave,

I really believed that, apart from the random hits by the software, only moderators/staff could mark threads Assumed Answers.

But I just had a look in an old chat thread that I had failed to unmark as a question, and I can see that it is possible for the OP.

But from this thread it seems that it is impossible for the OP to unmark Assumed Answered, as opposed to Correct Answer.

Is that really so?

That is correct.  Even for mods it's not quite straightforward to fix it.

The only way for the OP to reset "Assumed answered" is to mark a reply as Correct, then unmark it again. That will assign points then take them away again, leaving the thread in "unanswered" status.
