Much feedback was posted in the Back Room by Top contributors on this site.

I never thought the Jive Powered site was great for it has some issues.   Lithium make Jive look great.  I can not understand why Adobe chose to use Lithium as a replacement for Jive other then Lithium  purchased Jive and announced it was stopping new Jive development.  All the feedback I have seen has been negative and IMO its justified.

Adobe should not try to fix up Lithium they should evaluate the best  of the current forum packages and pick a replacement for Lithium. forum software 2019

It's really not Lithium, Actually khoros (or something like that) as Lithium is no longer the proper name.

But supposedly Autodesk uses this same companies forum system, maybe not the same templates (as that is what some of this is being referred to) but from the same company (Lithium) Khoros. So it's not really the main company. The blame falls direct on Adobe and the people that chose this platform and Set it Up.

Asleep at the wheel comes to mind or Asleep at their desks.

Here is a SS of the Autodesk forum, one of the forums.

So the question is Why can't the Adobe forums be similar

Agreed. That screenshot demonstrates what a useful forum should look like.

Given Adobe's position in the industry, this forum should be a prime example of a good forum. Regrettably, it is currently a poster child for what not to do. Hopefully, we see vast improvement soon.

[I posted this a version of this a while ago in the Backroom forum.]

Khoros.com touts Godaddy Community as an example Lithium community. I spent a few minutes poking around Godaddy Community and subscribing to a few threads, and it appears to have the most important functionality missing from Adobe Forums: more compact and useful listing of threads; paged listings rather than infinite scroll; sorting threads by last-post date; flat rather than threaded replies; email notifications that include the poster's name, the forum, and the thread title; and links from the email back to the forum post that actually take you to the post.

Two possibilities come to mind:

- Adobe and Khoros have made poor choices for configuring the Adobe forums.

- GoDaddy is on the old version of the Lithium platform, while Adobe forums are on the new "Khoros Community" platform that Khoros called "next-gen", and this new version lacks the desired features.

There is almost no detailed information about Khoro's new Communities Platform, just marketing blather and lead-generation to entice potential customers to talk to a salesman. As a general rule, the less information about an enterprise product provided online, and the more sales-driven the Web site, the lower the actual product quality.

Perhaps Khoros sales persuaded Adobe to "upgrade" from the old Lithium to the new Communities Platform, and promises were made when the contract was signed that Khoros hasn't been able to deliver on yet.  It sure seems that the Communities Platform is still in beta.

Keywords: connect, create, empower, dynamic, branded, interactive, knowledge, learning experience. Marketing dribble - words that don't really mean anything but sound good. It gives the impression of being up-market and modern for the 'connected generation'. It's a Brave New World!
