Concrete example of loss of a most valuable contributor

Anyone who visits the Color Management forum is very likely to be aware of the contributions of Prof. Dr. Gernot Hoffman, a color scientist at a leading German university.

Though we have lost many other valuable contributors, reading his post today has deeply saddened me.

I'm just quoting the relevant lines at the end of a lengthy and highly technical discussion:

… The ProPhotoRGB file, loaded by Photoshop, echoes  the correct

Lab values - within 1 unit accuracy, despite only 8 bpc numerical

resolution.

If somebody wants to continue the discussion: I'm asking politely

sad day. also one of the most knowledgeable photoshop (windows) contributors. he'll be missed for sure.

Yes, a sad loss.   

Just out of interest, Gernot asked us, when he retired lat year from university life, that we should drop the academic title.

(Very un-German, since most  of them try to append and hang on to titles of any description!)

I've had numerous public and private interactions with Prof. Hoffmann.  I believe he understands that, for those of us who accomplished the bulk of our academic education in German universities in the decade of the 1960s and before, dropping his academic titles is an absolute impossibility, just unthinkable.

Every Adobe forum is seeing the loss of valued contributors such as Gernot. It's these people who made the Adobe Forums such as a valuable resource. And Adobe is refusing to acknowledge this loss or take steps to reverse the flow. What ignorance.  What arrogance.
